Bishop Checchio will be visiting us to say Mass on Saturday, May 26th at 4 pm. Let’s give him a warm welcome. On Sunday May 27th the three new transitional Deacons will be joining me at Mass at 11 am. With the strange weather we had this past winter — alternating cold and warm, snow and freezing rain, three Nor’easters — our physical plant has suffered. Several cars were reported to have disappeared into potholes (a joke, or they may be in China.) Last week you may have noticed a change. S&G Pavers did a great job in restoring our parking lot. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but they did it all in two days! We also had a visit by the pew manufacturer’s representative and the installers. He left a “sample pew” near the front entrance. Please take care of it; it’s on loan. The timeline will be something like this: in August the existing pews will be taken apart. If anybody would like to purchase one please contact the rectory to arrange this. There will be opportunities to donate a new pew. Remember it does not mean that you own the pew or that it will be reserved for you. Then the terrazzo floors will be restored by filling in all the imperfections and polished. This includes all carpeted areas covering terrazzo flooring. Then the new pews will be delivered and installed. They claim it will take three weeks but I’m thinking 4-5 weeks. The pavers were on time, so I should count my blessings. Meanwhile we will celebrate Mass in the Parish Hall. It’ll be like the 1960’s again. It’ll be an adventure and we will be rewarded by renewed beauty and comfort to last us another 60 years. Let’s make an effort to renew our Christian Charity as we enter and leave the parking lot. Let’s make an extra effort to be courteous and eschew selfish and boorish behavior. The same is true when someone needs a seat. Please show the love of Christ for us by showing your charity for that person. Allow them to enter the pew or stand and let them enter. If they are elderly or handicapped let them sit at the end. Weak bladders are a curse of even younger people. By the way it’s a good idea to empty the bladder BEFORE Holy Mass. Also our new kneelers will be stronger but lighter. Let’s take care of them and gently lower them not making noise. B.F. Skinner the behavioral psychologist developed the concept of operant conditioning. Behavior can be modified by positive or negative reinforcements. Let’s stick to the positive reinforcement by showing pride in God’s house and our house.
A Message from Pastor Fr. Michael Fragoso

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION We would like to thank everyone who throughout the years cut out and donated the Labels for Education to our Religious Education Program. Sadly, Campbell's has discontinued the program. I contacted the Box Tops for Education program and we are unable to join in on their program. However, our nearby Catholic school collects them. We are asking that you be neighborly and start collecting for them. They may be placed in the same pink bag in the Church foyer as our tab tops for the Ronald McDonald House. If you have any questions you may e-mail Sandy Bohinski at [email protected].

NJ “Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act” - Physician-Assisted Suicide
Contact Your Legislators to Oppose Assisted Suicide
On Monday, March 12, the Assembly Judiciary Committee released the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act (A1504). The bill will now be voted on by the General Assembly. The bill would allow physicians to prescribe drugs to end the lives of terminally ill individuals considered to have six months to live. The facts are clear—in California, in Vermont and in Oregon—states that have passed assisted suicide bills-insurance companies have denied individuals expensive healthcare coverage but offered them low cost drugs to end their life. In an era of cost control and managed care, patients with lingering illnesses may be branded as a financial liability for the insurance company, and decisions to encourage death could be driven by reducing costs. Please contact your state legislators today and tell them that you oppose A1504/S1072. Visit: https://njcatholic.org/faith-in-action
