The use of food in both tradition and culture is an integral part of Asia. The etiquette of eating a meal correctly can guarantee a business deal, while the sharing of a meal can form new alliances or friendships. The sharing of Liwetan, a traditional Sundanese rice dish from Solo, is more than a simple a local cuisine. The eating of the rice allows everyone around the table to be equal, no matter your place in life. This allows for open conversa-tion with no judgment or argument.

Another food and culture combination is about to be celebrated this month. With Chinese New Year taking place, a host of family traditions will take place at the dining table. Known as the ‘Reunion dinner’, the main meal of Chinese New Year should be attended by the entire family. This can result in very crowded meals, but it only adds to the warmth of family reunion and togetherness as we welcome in the New Lunar Year.

Coast to Coast Night Trail Ultra 2019 (16-17 January 2019)Taking place from the 16th to the 17th, the Coast to Coast Night Trail Ultra will be a daring exercise for any level of runner. The length can be set at 13K, 25K, 50K or for the really adventurous, 70K. Experience different landscapes and weather conditions as you attempt push yourself and challenge your nighttime senses.
