Greetings in thewonderful name of our LordJesus. February is upon us andwith it comes thoughts ofValentines Day. I hope you areall preparing to attend ourValentines Banquet honoringour full-time volunteers. It willbe February 15 @ 6:30 pm. We

will have great food, fellowship, and a good time as we honor allthose who make our fellowshipa success by giving sogenerously of their time andenergy. We encourage you toinvite your special valentineand join us for a delightfulevening, courtesy of The OpenDoor. Reservations arerequired, though, as we need toknow how many for which to

prepare. Call 337-981-6438 or [email protected].

We usually think of lovewhen we speak of ValentinesDay. Most of us have at onetime or another given orreceived a valentine from

somebody. We usually keep thebest one for that really specialsomebody. We hope he or sheappreciates our expression oflove and secretly wish that thelove will be returned. Many ofus, however, have been crushedwhen our affections are notreturned or acknowledged.

We are told in scriptureof Gods great love for us. He

has sent us, as it were, avalentine, a special invitationtelling us of His love. For Godso loved the world that He gaveHis only begotten Son.Whoever believes in Him willnever perish but will haveeternal life. (Jn 3:16) Come untome all who are weary and heavy

laden, and I will give you rest.(Mt 11:28) What joy to be ableto give us something that wecould never earn or gain on ourown.

As we grew up, perhapswe observed that there werethose who did not receive asmany valentines as others. Itseems that there were thosewho everybody wanted to have

    So now

    faith, hope,

    and love

    abide,

    these

    three; butthe

    greatest of

    these is

    love.

as a valentine and yet, others looked on withdisappointment as they were passed over and notpicked to be somebodys special valentine. Manywere left with feelings of rejection or inadequacybecause of a simple paper valentine that didntarrive.

The glory of it all is that Gods invitation goes outto everyone. Whoever includes you, me, and allwho would believe. His invitation is not just on oneday of the year. Its every day, in all the world, through all the ages; God gave His Son thatwhoever believes may have eternal life. What awonderful message! What a wonderful gift! What awonderful invitation! Believe. Receive. Trust.Come. Of all the invitations one could receive, there is none greater than the invitation to come toHim, all of us who are weary and heavy laden withsin, confusion, doubt, despair. He promises rest -relief for the weary soul.

Yet, there are those who still have not heard, whostill have not recognized that they have receivedthe valentine card of their life. The invitation that

heals all their sin, all their rejection, all their hurtshas been sent, with their name on it, and yet theydo not know.

We will gather on Friday, February 15th for aValentines Banquet. The invitation has gone out toall within our fellowship. Yet there will be thosewho do not hear. They will miss an evening of joyand fellowship. But more importantly, there arethose who still have not heard of the greatestexpression of love, the greatest invitation given to

mankind. God has sent forth His love, fullyexpressed by Jesus Christ. Yet there are thosewho have not heard. What if we told somebody ofthat great gift and invitation before we celebrateValentines Day. It would be better news thanreceiving any paper valentine from any person, ever! Think on it. Blessings!

I had a request to talk about love, and I ranacross this song while downloading music

on my new device. I miss singing this songin large groups but I feel this wraps it all up.

    1. And can it be that I should gainAn interest in the Savior's blood?Died He for me who caused His pain! For me who Him to death pursued?Amazing love! How can it be ThatThou, my God, should die for me?

Chorus:Amazing love! How can it beThat Thou, my God, should die for me!Amazing love! How can it beThat Thou, my God, should die for me!

    2. He left His Father's throne above,So free, so infinite His grace!Emptied Himself of all but love,And bled for Adam's helpless race.'Tis mercy all, immense and free,For O my God, it found out me!

    3. Long my imprisoned spirit lay,

Fast bound in sin and nature's night;Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free,I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

    4. No condemnation now I dread;Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;Alive in Him, my living Head,And clothed in righteousness divine,Bold I approach the eternal throne,And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

    Amen and Amen

    A Passover SederWednesday, March 13th

A representative of Jews for Jesus willbe joining us at The Open Door on

    Wednesday, March 13th, to share

with us what takes place during a

Passover Seder. You may ask, what is

a Seder? A Passover seder is a service

held at home as part of the Passover

celebration. It is always observed on

the first night of Passover, and in

some homes on the second night as

well. Participants use a book called

the Haggadah to lead the service.

    Haggadah means the telling, in

    Hebrew, and it contains instructions

for the seder, blessings and the

    Passover story. The word

    sederactually means order in

Hebrew. The name comes from the

fact that there are many different

parts to the ritual service, all

    revolving around the Passover dinner.

The food is an important symbolic

element of Passover. To learn more

about a Passover seder, the foods thatare eaten and their symbolisms, join

us for this very special night. We look

forward to learning more about this

    Jewish celebration.
