Caddy’s Corner February 2018 Ahhhh can you feel it? Love is in the air! Although it seems the weather outside doesn’t know its winter, we hope February brings the warmth of love to you and your family. Mack and I have always agreed that we should show the people we love how much we love them every day not just on holidays but Valentine’s Day is a great time to focus on sharing some extra love! Take some time this month to talk to your children about what love means to you and ways to show love to others. Maybe even make it a goal to tell each of your family members something different you love about them every day! One idea I hope to follow through with is writing down one thing each day to my children that I love about them and post it on their bedroom door. Next month we will celebrate Read Across America and because it is at the beginning of the month we want to give you an early invite into your child’s classroom to share a book to show them how important reading is to you and your family. Remember that you are always welcome to visit and that we greatly appreciate any of you that can take time out of your busy day to share just a few minutes with our classes. We will have a book character parade during the first week of March to begin our celebration of Read Across America. Please have your child dress as their favorite book character for this day and have them bring their book in with them! I feel like I am constantly reminded about the impact reading has on a young mind and continues even for us as adults. Please take the time during Read Across America week to let your child know that reading is a priority for your family by sharing a book with their class, by visiting a book store or our local library, and by simply reading every night with your child! I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we have experienced some changes in staff this semester. We did lose 2 wonderful teachers last month as they are following their dreams, taking on a new adventure this year and we couldn’t be happier for them. As a result, we have faced some difficult scheduling conflicts this month and are working hard to provide stability in staff while maintaining our high quality in teachers. We partner with and support all of our teachers as they further their education. We firmly believe that we have stronger, happier teachers by working around their school schedules and provide them as many hours to work as possible which impacts the high quality of care your child receives. We have valuable substitutes who are familiar with all the classes and children in our building and have been a huge asset during this transition time. In talking with other Directors in our area, they are facing some of the same struggles, inconsistent school schedules with current staff and lack of applicants so we are not alone, although I am confident this will all work out very soon. We would still like to hire a consistent afternoon staff member, if you know if anyone that would be a great addition to our team, please encourage them to stop by or email me at [email protected]. If you have any questions in regards to our staff please feel free to contact me. Happy Valentine’s Day, may you all feel and share much love this month! “Children's reading and children's thinking are the rock-bottom base upon which this country will rise. Or not rise. It’s February! “Love Is In The Air”. We will be talking about showing Love to one another and what Love means. The Two’s Classroom is the potty training room- We are continuing to work with our friends on the potty. Everyone is learning how to recognize when to go potty and doing a great job. Please, bring a change of clothes and shoes, in case of accident. Also, we are working with our class on using their words, being independent, and how to use their own fork, spoon, and drinking from a cup with no lid. We are so proud of them all! They are doing better every week! Please encourage your child at home as well. We appreciate all of your support and encouragement through the process. Don’t forget to bring a jacket for outside time weather permitting. Lastly, we will be having a Valentine Party and I’ll send home a list of the classmates names on Feb 5th. So if your child would like to participate and make cards for their friends, they can. They will be passed out the day of the party! We are looking forward to a great month.

Happy Month of LOVE! We are sad to see Cassie & Ava move up to the Toddler Room, but we are excited to welcome sweet Maggie to our little class! We are thrilled to be celebrating Gabriel turning one on the 12th. We have so many fun activities planned this month. The children are enjoying Ms. Miriam’s music classes every Thursday. As we celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th, you are welcome to bring in Valentine cards for all of our little friends. We would like to remind you to please remember that booties need to be worn while you are in the classroom. Our little babies love to crawl and in order to keep them healthy, we need you to help us keep the floors clean. We appreciate your help with this. Hope you all have a wonderful month!

We even got to see a little snow! For February we will be learning about how to keep our teeth clean and healthy. We will have a special visitor from Kids Dentistry on February 15th to help review what we have learned. Since Valentine’s Day is this month we will be making tons of heart crafts! The students will be talking about what a President does and learn about some of our past Presidents. For the last week of the month we will talk about Kings and Queens and make our own crowns! We will continue to work on our sign language words and letter recognition. Be sure you are sending your child with a jacket labeled with their name everyday. We try to get outside at least a few minutes everyday, weather permitting, and it can be chilly in the morning. It is going to be a great month!

Can you believe that February is here? I cannot believe how fast this school year is going. The basis of our classroom has changed into a more challenging, structured schedule and the children have really met the higher standards that I have set for them. I could not be more proud of how each child is pushing themselves out of their own comfort zone, by trying new things and put more focus on the academic activities that are planned each day. We will continue to add more structure as we move through out the rest of our school year. During the month of February, we will focus on dental health as we discuss ways to keep our teeth healthy and clean. Love will be in the air as we talk about ways that we can show love to the people that are in our lives each day. We will also spend some time learning about some of the most noteworthy presidents in our country's history, as well as, write a letter to Donald Trump and talk about what the role of the president is and how we might would do things differently if we were president for a day! We will use Nursery Rhymes to explore Kings and Queens as we close the month of February. There will be several exciting days through out the month. We will have a visit from a dentist office to reinforce what we learn about caring for our teeth. Our class will exchange Valentine cards and have a class party on Wednesday, February 14th at 10:15. I will be sending home more information and placing a sign up sheet on the door. Kindergarten registration is just around the corner. If you would like to schedule a conference to discuss any concerns or questions that you may have regarding your child, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to meet with you at a time that is convenient. I have completed evaluations for each child. If you did not receive a copy, please let me know and I will be happy to provide a copy to you. Thank you for all that you do to support our classroom. I love working with your children each day!
Afterschool: Ms. RenataAfterschool: Ms. RenataAfterschool: Ms. RenataAfterschool: Ms. Renata Wow I cannot believe that it is already February! We have been working on doing our homework when we first come in to class. Please let me know if you want your child to complete all their homework, so that I can make sure that they are working on it. The cold months are here and we are working on washing our hands, covering our mouths when we cough or sneeze. We ask that parents also remind their children to do these things at home as well because we all want to stay healthy. Also, please send your child with a coat as we do go outside and it is cold. Make sure to clean out your child’s cubby (we don’t want to forget coats or homework!). I hope you all have a great month and a Happy Valentine’s Day!

We have so much in store this month. We will start off the month with Dental Health. The children will be learning how to take good care of their teeth. We will be doing an experiment that shows the children how some drinks can stain your teeth. We will put an egg in coke, water, and Kool-Aid and see what happens. We will then brush the eggs clean with toothpaste and a toothbrush. In small groups, we will be showing them how to properly take care of the teeth. We will also have visit from Mr. Mouth. Mr. Mouth only likes to eat food that is good for him. So, the children will feed Mr. Mouth healthy foods from home-living. The second week in February is all about LOVE. Our class is invited to bring in Valentines to share with others on Friday, February 14th. Don’t worry about bringing in a Valentine’s box we will creating our own in class. If you would like your child to participate in this fun activity, please provide them with 22 Valentines with only their name on it. We will also be reading, “If I Were President” and discussing what we would do if we were President. In our final week of February we will be learning about Kings and Queens. We will compare and contrast what it means to be King vs. President. We will then take a journey to a far off land and become Kings and Queens. We will build castles and play musical thrones.

Hello everyone and welcome to another great month! January is over, and we’re looking forward to February and the wonderful things our Busy Pre-K B will learn. First we’ll be discussing Dental Health, and why it’s important to brush our teeth and eat good, healthy foods to keep our teeth bright and strong. We’ll also be doing an experiment to show how important brushing our teeth is, and visiting an orthodontist office! Then we’ll learn about why we celebrate Valentine’s Day! Remember for February 14th, to have cards that say ‘To a Friend’, for every girl and boy in your child’s class. After that we’ll learn about the Presidents, and what it means to be a good leader. Our lesson will culminate in a mock election where our boys and girls will vote for either cats or dogs. We will finish February by looking at Reptiles, where they live, and asking our friends which reptile is their favorite. Some important notes for our moms and dads: Every Friday, we let our friends pick from our Treasure Box, a special box filled with toys, stickers, and trinkets that they can take home. Our box gets empty quick, so if you would like to contribute little things we can put into our Treasure Box, so we can continue to reward our boys and girls, we would appreciate it. Next, we’ve been teaching our friends about good behavior by encouraging them to ‘fill our bucket’. Friends can fill our buckets with good behavior, nice words, and kind actions. While Winter is still strong, please remember to teach your little ones how to put on their coats and jackets, so they can be ready to go out in the cold.
Love and Friendship is in the air this month! We will be talking about, reading books and creating masterpieces all month with love, friendship and kindness as a theme. We will have our Valentine’s Fondue Party on February 14th in the afternoon. This month is also Dental Health month. We will be learning about our teeth and how to get them extra special healthy and clean. Our class will be taking a fieldtrip to Phelun-Dempsey Orthodontist office for an interactive learning day all about our teeth health. President’s day is this month as well. We will be talking about Presidents and the responsibilities of that job. We do some mock elections within our classroom to learn about the democratic process. We will continue working on learning the letters and sounds, counting and number recognition, writing our names and other words and being able to journal about our thoughts and experiences. Have a Fabulous February!!
