DARP Trial Flights

• DARP operational procedures are published in the GOLD

DARP Trial Flights

• Operational CPDLC is required for aircraft requesting airborne DARP reroutes.

• A DARP request must be made within Oakland Oceanic Control Area and at least 1 hour prior to crossing the FIR common boundary. This is necessary to permit adequate time for clearance delivery and AIDC messaging to take place.

• The downlink CPDLC reroute request should be made by the flight crew at least 20 minutes before the divergence waypoint to allow processing time by controller and flight crew.

•The FAA encountered a problem where aircraft DARP requests that contained a duplicate waypoint lat/long would be incorrectly processed and the uplink route clearance would contain the lat/long for the waypoint immediately following the waypoint.

•This was corrected in the Ocean21 T20 software build.

•There is an open FANS PR where Boeing aircraft downlink requests for a reroute do not include the waypoint between two routes.

•If this route is uplinked to the aircraft it loads correctly with the correct route, but it frequently causes AIDC rejects because of the missing waypoint.
