1 FEDERATION OF INDIAN PETROLEUM INDUSTRY PDPU Student Chapter Our chapter is aimed to be a path of knowledge from industry to academia, at FIPI Society we believe hydrocarbon as a fuel of future so we can help to build young professionals who are knowledgeable, skillful and can work with professionals at national level. Our aim is to provide knowledge to the students in this constantly changing scenario of oil and gas industry and make them passionate about their work. Knowledge is imparted to the students in form of guest lectures, conferences, technical fests, and many more which manifests the students to become an accomplished engineer for the oil and gas industry in the future. EVENTS NATURAL GAS: From Well Head to burner’s tip Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry organized a special guest lecture on Natural Gas attributes and as an outlook for the energy resources which took place on 14 th March, 2017. The speaker for the session was Mr. Ajit C. Kapadia, Chairman, Quanta Processes Pvt. Ltd. The inaugural started with the felicitating Mr. Kapadia by Dr. Anirbid Sircar. Mr. Kapadia in his sessions included various energy resources along with its growth from past to future and also focused on the renewable sources of energy which can be beneficial for the upcoming years. He also emphasized on various topics like security issues of India in energy sector depending on the domestic availability of renewable resources and coal, increase in Natural Gas production, fulfilling energy demands through means of encouraging solar and wind energy. A roadmap to Indian energy scenario in 2050 was also introduced, increasing the ease of product with less carbon footprint.

Withtheaimofprovidingplatformforbuildingpetroleumengineerstoshowcasetheirknowledgeandideastoindustrystalwarts,Technoaltarwasorganizedon8THAPRIL,2017.FIPIPDPUStudentChapterorganisedthisresearcher’squest–TECHNOALTAR”which included eventsPRASHTUTIKARAN, EMBLAZON andAGGRANDIZE. Thismegaeventwasstarted by the inaugural session bythe judgesMr.RajeshPathak,DGMDrilling,GSPC,Mr.AnandGupta,GMProduction, ONGC Ahmedabad andMr. Aman Sharma, GSPC werewelcomed and facilitated withbouquets. The first event was thePRASHTUTIKARAN, PaperPresentation Competition whichtookplaceparallelinthreetheHallsalong with the industrialist, ourfaculties Dr G. Negi and BarashaDekaaccompaniedthem.Inthiseventparticipantsunveiledtheirresearchpotentialsthroughpresentation.Thepresentation included the major industrial processes like drilling, production,reservoir, waste management,fracturing,etc.Afterajawdroppingpresentation session extended tillnoon, it was followed by theexecutive lunch. The post lunchsession included the EMBLAZON-Poster Presentation Competitionwhichconsistsofthepresentationoftheresearchworkoftheparticipantsintheformoftheposter,thissessionisfollowedbyawardceremonywerewinners were affiliated by Prizemoney and Certificate and eventcametoendbyconclusionspeechbyMr.RajeshPathak.

FIPI took responsibility to providestudents of 2nd year, the most basicunderstandingof twofieldswhich inturnhelpstheminknowingtheirinterestandmitigatethisselectionprocessforsame.FIPIinvitedMs.DebanjaliMallick,facultyPDPU,toconductainteractivesessioncalledABCDtobreakdownthebasisofselectionbetweentheUpstreamandDownstream.ThesessionaimedtoliftthecloudsoffogfromcurrentscenarioofOil&Gassector,toclarifydoubtssproutinginyoungmindsandtoimpartgenuineguidanceinmakingdecision.
DROOPODLIER–AQuiz
On18thSeptember2017,FIPIPDPUSChadconductedDROOPODLIER,whichwasaquizeventforthefreshmanyearstudents.Thiseventfocusedtotesttheirknowledge,quiz was divided in three rounds having question related to petroleum , Generalknowledge , Current affairs and Aptitude to test their knowledge and presence ofmind.Thequizwasdesigned thoughtfullyandconducted inuniqueway ,Quiz containedthree roundswithquestions testing their presenceofmind , knowledge and teamcoordination,thewinnerswereannouncedafter3rdroundandprovidedPrizesworth2000/-.

1. WellLoggingWorkshop
On 2nd March, 2017 the first session of the workshop on Well Logging andInterpretationwasorganisedbyFIPIPDPUStudentChapter.Thespeakerfortheworkshop being Mr. Prem Kumar Chawla, SeniorGeophysicist(Retd.),ONGCAhmedabadAsset,India.He has an experience about 30 years in oil and gasindustry invariousdepartments.Thesessionstartedwith Dr. Uttam Kumar Bhui (Associate Professor,PDPU) facilitating Mr. Chawla along with theappreciation of having him as a special guest forconductingthisworkshop.Starting with the absolute basics of logging, hetouchedupontheaspectsofopenholelogging,casedhole logging and production logging. He alsointroduceddifferenttoolswhichdetectpropertieslikepotential porosity, resistivity, density, formation variations, etc. Mr. Chawlahandedoverthesessionstartingwiththevariousinstrumentsandtoolsusedtomeasure theseproperties.With timehe covered all thebasic logging tools likecalliper log, sonic log, density log,neutronlog,temperaturelog,resistivitylogs, spontaneous log, NMR log etc.alongwiththeinterpretationsofthelogdata acquired. He also provided someexerciseproblemsalongwiththeactuallogs necessary for the interpretation.The duration for the session was twohours initially, but because of Mr.Chawla’s enthusiasm, students got soengagedthatthe lecturecontinuedforfurtheronemorehour.On19thAugust2017,anothersessionofthislectureserieswasconductedbytheeminentspeakerMr.PremKumarChawlawhichincludedafurthermoredetailedanalysisofeachrockformations.

Thissessionwasorganizedfocusingon the current third yeardownstream students underguidance of our faculty Mr.Pshivakuamar and Mr. R BalaSubramaniam, aiming at providingthem with better insights of theindustrial processes, followedmainlyinrefineryworksbeforetheyactuallygetintotheirfuturefieldofwork and meant to give a betterhand for our students than otherswhen they come out into an opencompetitive arena .This Session was conducted on 24th and 25th by Mr. MSanthosh,SystemsEngineer,SIMInfoTechLtd.,certificationcourseapprovedbythecompany,whichpioneeredinprovidingsoftwareassistancetomanylargescaleindustriesinIndia.Thiswas a great success, as per the reviews and feedbacks from the studentsattendedandtheybenefittedalotfromtheevent.Softskillsareaneedofthetimeandnearlyeveryindustrialapplicationaresoftwareassisted.Hence,havingahandinsuchsoftwareswheresimulationsinvolved,makesthestudentsmoreintotherealisticproblemsandpracticesintheindustriesandhelpthemgettingtrainedforand aid the software with thetechnological application and theircreativity to combat the currentproblems faced in industry, indesigning and valuablemodificationsincurrentlyusedtechnologiestomakethe activities more productive andprofitable. Nearly 70 studentsparticipatedintheworkshopandwiththe positive reviews, we try tocontinue such events through thecomingyearssothat theexpectationofourmembersaremetandweareprovidingsomethingproductivetoo.
hechildren’sdaycelebratedonthe14thNovember,thebirthremembranceofourformer PrimeMinister Shri. JawaharlalNehru ji every year on consideration of hisfondnessforchildren.wecelebratedthedaywiththestudentsoftheRaisanPrimaryGovernmentSchool.Wewerepreparedwithfungames,creativeactivitiesforthemto engage and keep them active throughout the program and the children wereoverwhelmedhaveuswiththemontheirday.Winnersweregivenprizesforvariousfuneventsconductedandtherewasasweetsdistributionforall400studentssotheycouldhaveasweetremembranceoftheday.Theeventaimedatgivingamessageofaninbornsocialcommitmentthateveryoneshouldhavetowardsthesocietywhich
