Rooms4u

• It is a purpose built South African online real time accommodation listing and booking portal for all tourism players

• A tool for all accommodation service providers to get to market on the web real time and gain exposure to potential web customers

• An easy to use point of service for local and international travellers to locate and book accommodation within South Africa especially for MESE. (Meetings Exhibitions and Special Events)

Actions

• All accommodation providers concerned about the sale of their rooms need to know or be informed that Rooms4u is one of the suggested portals to assist with this issue

• 1 March all registered users will be loading their available stock onto the system for sale

• The Department of Tourism and SAT step up such communications from the beginning of March 2010.

• No cost to registration • No barriers to entry– Internet access and Bank Account necessary

• Only Pay on use of the service – For SMME as an administration fee (of 15% added to the

Net Rate) from rooms4u.co.za– For Groups a commission of 15% will be charged and billed

according to the groups specific billing structures• Direct access to Event specific markets– e.g. MATCH in respect of 2010

• LIQUIDATIONS AND FRAUD: – in the industry especially during these trying

economic times. SATSA and FEDHASA stand united that any funds that are taken by tour operators or hotels should be held in escrow or trust by the bank until the service for which is paid is delivered to the customer.

Summary

• This system allows the Department of Tourism to create a legacy that puts the country into a better position to maximise future tourism revenues from large events.

• Rooms4u not only serves to accomplish this goal but becomes the platform for tourism growth into the future protecting all in the procurement process until completion of delivery

• South African Tourism will stand proud on the world stage in regards to consolidation of both the National data base and booking systems
