    Message

    From

    Chairman

    FEEDS Group of Institutions

Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS) has been implementing since 1988 several projects, both on and off campus, in the fields of horticulture, biotechnology, orchid conservation, post-harvest technology and ethno-medicinal research with state-of-the-art laboratory which have helped in enhancing the social and economic conditions of the impoverished tribal communities of Manipur hill area. Doing these, we have gained enormous experience and technical competence. By establishing these three colleges, we seek to inculcate our experience and competence and create a cadre of technical professionals who will take them forward and replicate, and bring prosperity to themselves and to farmers and women. The courses offered at the FEEDS Group of Institutions (FGI) promise exciting and rewarding opportunities that ensure positive job avenues in various fields. At the FGI, we are emphasizing primarily on quality education and learning in an unique natural environment. We also lay stress on high-tech laboratory and field work in the new areas of agriculture, horticulture, agri. biotechnology, fishery and agro-forestry.

We have a vision to deliver the nationally and globally relevant curricula maintaining a personalized learning environment with a student-centred approach based on the guidelines of Fifth Deans’ Committee Report published by the ICAR.

I am confident that the FEEDS Group of Institutions will fulfil the aspirations of its students and succeed in attaining its Vision.

I extend my best wishes to the upcoming professionals and committed members of FEEDS Group of Institutions.

    Message

    From

    Advisor

    FEEDS

I have been associating with the FEEDS and the north east region now for almost

25 years. As a Consultant to a number of national and international agencies, I

have spent time at the very grassroots and policy-making levels. My learning is

that the natural resources in the north east region and the people living there

offer huge potential of development. There is no reason what so ever for them

to live in poverty. What the north east region lacks and needs is a cadre of

dedicated technical professionals who can provide them hands-on technical

support in order that the natural resources are converted into liquid green gold

in sustainable ways. And at the same time, set up their own agro-based

enterprises, take up commercial farming, and self-employ themselves.

It has been our dream to set up educational institutions and create this cadre of

rural technical professionals and entrepreneurs. The five colleges being

established at the FEEDS campus in Hengbung will deliver them. We understand

that this is going to be a very challenging task but very much achievable.

I wish the candidates success in their endeavour.

Dr. S.K. Vettivel D.Phil. (IDS, Sussex)

    Message

    From

    Director

    FEEDS Group of Institutions

Today, Life Sciences represent a potential sector of economic growth and an

important component in India's national health agenda. Appreciating the

important role that biology will play in this century, the Indian government is

expanding as well as starting several new biological research institutes, which

will open up many new positions for life science researchers. Biology also has

come to the Indian Institutes of Technology.

However, a substantial increase in output cannot be realized by just giving more

support to its existing life science faculty. Rather, the future of Indian biology

must be built by a new generation: young faculty who will be recruited back to

India from their studies abroad and, further down the road, by college and

university students who will become inspired to become scientists.

We at the FEEDS Group of Institutions are making our contribution in developing

our students future by introducing them to innovative learning and helping

them to develop the necessary skills to meet these opportunities and be part of

    the nation building.

    Hemendra Chandra Bhattacharyya
