2012 Feng Shui Guide

Written by Pierre Mak

Thank you for downloading this 2012 Feng Shui Guide. Although this is an FREE e-book

distributed via my Feng Shui blog, Feng Shui DIY, it is loaded with lots of useful information

that could help you to live a better year 2012.

This Feng Shui Guide is written following traditional Flying Star Feng Shui principles. If you

are not familiar with Feng Shui theories, Flying Star Feng Shui is the most trusted and

popular Feng Shui system in Chinese society. It has a long history and was used by emperors

in ancient times. Basically this system utilizes the intangible energy that naturally exists in

the universe by calculating the movement of nine virtual flying stars. These stars occupy the

eight corners and the center of the earth and every building. By knowing their where-about

in a particular year, you can avoid triggering the bad effects of the bad flying stars and

maximize the use of positive energy brought to you by good flying stars.

So much said about flying stars, let’s start looking at the disposition of them and how you

could use them to bring yourself a happy and prosperous Year 2012!

The 2012 Flying Star Map

The following diagram is the flying star map for 2012. It shows the position of the nine flying

stars in this year. According to traditional Feng Shui theory, the upper side of this diagram is

the Southern direction while the bottom is North. It is 180 degrees different from the waypeople usually refer to directions.

South

4  6  8

9  2  7

North

As you can see, Flying Star 6 occupies the center. Stars 1, 2, 4 and 8 are located at South,

North, East and West respectively. Southeast, Southwest, Northeast and Northwest are

where you can find Flying Stars 5, 3, 9 and 7. (These Flying Stars actually have their specific

names in Chinese, but let’s keep everything simple here by using numbers to represent

them.)

To plan for a lucky 2012, what you need to do is to identify the bad stars and good stars.

Avoid touching the former ones and maximize the use of the latter ones as much as you can.

How do you know which of them are good and which are bad? Let me tell you.

South

South is the where the Flying Star 1 (一白) locates in 2012. It represents Tao Hua (桃花),

literally means peach blossom, which is good for interpersonal relationship. It could mean

good relationship with friends, family members and colleagues.

However, this is also the San Sha (三煞) direction. In Chinese, Sha means attack or killing

and San means three (and triple). So you know how bad it is.

If the entrance door of your house is located at the Southern direction of the house, it

means that people in this house can get relationship improvement. This is particular good

for single people. But with San Sha, people living this house may also have accident,

personal injury and illness easier.

If the kitchen (or stove) is in the Southern part of your house, your family members may be

prone to get sick especially in relation to digestive system, due to the effects of San Sha.

Do’s and Don’ts

Those who are single can utilize the Tao Hua effect in this direction by placing a vase with a

flower. Choose colorful flower. Water and flower can boost the effects of Flying Star 1.

To avoid the bad effect of San Sha, do not carry out any building works in this direction.

Southwest

This year, Flying Star 3 (三碧) comes to Southwest. In 2012, this flying star means

everything about disagreement between people, such as bad interpersonal relationship,

disputes and lawsuits.

It follows naturally that if the main entrance door of your house is located at Southwest

direction, people living in this house are more likely than not to involve in disputes with

other family members and other people such as their colleagues and friends.

If you have children and their study desks are placed in the Southwest corner of the house,

chances are they may not get along well with classmates and teachers. Home office workers

may face difficulty to win the hearts of clients if their desks are located at Southwest of the

house.

And the principle applies to the location of bedroom and bed. If your bedroom is located at

the Southwest direction of the house, you would be adversely affected by this bad flying

star. How can’t you be affected if you spend 8 hours a day on the bed/in the bedroom?

Do’s and Don’ts

Certainly you should avoid triggering the bad effect of this flying star. Do not carry out

building works in this corner of your house.

If unfortunately the entrance door, kitchen, stove, study desk, bedroom or bed in your

house is located at the Southwest corner, you can place something red there, e.g. a wall-

hung painting in red.

West

West is the best direction in 2012, where Flying Star 8 (八白) is located. It represents wealth

and prosperity.

If the entrance door of your house opens to the West, congratulations! It means that people

living in your house would probably have better luck in investment and work. And for

people who work at home this is the best location to place the desk.

Do you know why Flying Star 8 is the best? The period from year 2004 to year 2023 is called

the Eighth Yun (八運), when Flying Star 8 is the strongest and the best. In these 20 years, wherever the Flying Star 8 goes is the best direction.

Do’s and Don’ts

To make full use of this good flying star for wealth growth, make sure you put your desk

there. It is certainly no harm to place your bed there as well. To boost the good luck, you

can put things related to water in the West, such as aquarium.

Northwest

In contrast to West, Northwest is a bad direction in 2012. It could mean bad luck in

investment and decrease in income. It may also bring higher chance of fire accident.

So it is definitely bad if the entrance door is located here. No matter how hard you work,

probably people living in this house could not make much money. So as the study desk of

home officers.

If the kitchen is located at the Northwest corner of your house, please ensure that you

always switch off the heat before leaving your house.

Do’s and Don’ts

To alleviate the bad effect of this Flying Star 7 (七赤) in 2012, you can place a bottom or

large bowl in the Northwest. Put some water in, add some water, then place 1 large corn in

the middle and 6 smaller coins around (called 安忍水  in Chinese). According to Wu Xing

a.k.a Five Elements (五行) theory, Flying Star 7 belongs to metal category. It is believed that

this water bowl/bottle could dissipate the “metallic” characteristic of the Flying Star, thus

reduced the adverse impacts of it.

North

Flying Star 2 (二黑) comes to this direction in 2012. This flying star means illness.

If any of the entrance door, desk, kitchen or bedroom of your house is located here, people

in the house or that bedroom may get sick easier in this year. Particularly for the bed, if you

sleep here for 8 hours a day, do you think you could stay healthy? If your child’s desk is

here, your child may be unable to focus on his/her study.

Do’s and Don’ts

You can place six metal coins or wind chimes with six tubes/bells in the Northern corner of

your house. Flying Star 2 belong to “Earth” according to the Five Elements theory and

“Earth” could turn into “Metal” (metal is obtained from underground mine!), so these six

metal coins can reduce the adverse effect of this Flying Star by converting the “Earth” into

“Metal”. Why six? This number belongs to “Metal” according to Feng Shui theory!

Northeast

Good stuff here! Flying Star 9 (九紫) comes to Northwest in 2012. It means happiness, new

baby and marriage.

It’s good that your entrance door locates in this direction, because people in this house have

higher chance of conceiving a baby or getting married. The same applies to people who

have their bedrooms in this place.

This is a particular good place to utilize for people wanting a baby or marriage. Note that

this Flying Star brings marriage, not relationship. It does not help single people to find a

girlfriend or boyfriend (use the South direction instead).

Do’s and Don’ts

Put something big and red in this direction. This could boost the good effects of the Flying

Star.

East

Flying Star 4 (四綠) comes to East in 2012. This star means good study and work. It is

particularly good for white collar workers.

Do’s and Don’ts

To utilize the good effect of this Flying Star, it is great if the main entrance door is located

here. Or, you can place your desk there for smooth and efficient working. If you have

children, put their desks here so that they can have higher scores in exams.

If space does not allow the movement of desks, you can put a green plant in the Eastern

direction, preferably in the quantity of four.

Southeast

Southeast is another bad direction in 2012. Flying Star 5 (五黃) flies to this direction and

brings not only bad luck but also health problems and bad interpersonal relationships.

Do’s and Don’ts

No matter what, avoid starting building works in this direction. Besides, if the entrance

door, kitchen or bedroom is positioned in this direction, you should place something metallic

here. You can consider things like 6 metal coins or a golden carpet outside the entrance

door. Same as Flying Star 2, Flying Star 5 is also “Earth” according to Five Elements theory so

you use metal to reduce the adverse effects of this star.

Center

Flying Star 6 (六白) occupies the center of the flying star map in 2012. This Star means

movement. Many people in Asia who want to migrate to another country utilize this Flying

Star. This Star also means travelling, job change and relocation. After all, it is aboutCHANGE.

Image via http://www.worldgallery.co.uk/poster/Barack-Obama---Change-73618.html

Do’s and Don’ts

If you want a change in 2012, say to move to a larger house, you would need to utilize this

Flying Star. Find the center of your house and something of “Metal” or “Water”

characteristic, for example, wind chimes. I know that the center of a house is usually a

corridor or living room instead of a corner. So you can choose something that you can hang

on the ceiling.

On the other hand, this Star may also bring bad effects. Do not put big red things or plant

here. This would bring changes to your family but in a bad way. Also do not put your bed atthe center of your house.

Summary

I hope you enjoyed reading this e-book and forgive me if you found any misspelling andgrammatical mistakes. I’m not a native English speaker. I am a Chinese who have learned

and practiced Feng Shui for over 20 years.

Feng Shui is not difficult at all. It is the door opening to better living condition. It is home

science, not superstition. Once you appreciated how it works, you know it is simply
