Description:
The car is one of only 145 RHD Mondials ever built.
Rarer than a 250 but a tenth of the price which is only
set to rise! With a name reminiscent of the 500
Mondial race cars from the 1950s, the Ferrari Mondial
was a replacement model for the Ferrari 308 GT4. It
was the first Ferrari where the entire engine, gearbox
and rear suspension assembly was mounted on a
detachable steel subframe. The steel bodied
coachwork was taken care of by Carrozzeria Scaglietti
and built over a lightweight steel box section space
frame.
The Mondial 8 is considered one of the marque's most
practical models with its 214hp, proven drivetrain, four
seats and low cost of maintenance. It is all about the
drive with a Ferrari and this one is no exception - it
drives superbly! In addition, this Mondial Coupé has a
wonderful history folder and shows a documented
engine rebuild in 2010 with an additional cambelt
change 2,000 miles ago and a host of other major
work.
Mechanically, this is a very good example and the
cream leather trim is pristine. The paintwork has
recently been sympathetically refreshed by a multi
award winning London body shop with photographic
history of the work and presents beautifully.
Mondials have long been undervalued and now the
market place is waking up. Supplied with a current
MoT test certificate with no advisories until March
2018, together with the original service books and 22
previous MoT's, this righthand drive Ferrari is one of
only 145 units manufactured and represents a very
good investment in a rising market - not just to tuck
away but to drive and enjoy!
