“13 Seconds”

John Steen-Mikkelsen, CEO of Danske

Faerger A/S, refers to the time it takes

them to check in a car and passen-

gers, using the Carus Port Automation

Solution.

“The advanced set of solutions from

Carus is the key to our business success.

As our technology partner they have,

over time, proven their excellent service,

flexibility and understanding of the ferry

industry.”

A ferry operation with more than 60,000

sailings annually puts a strong focus on

reliability and efficiency. Having the op-

eration spread out over 14 different ports

and eight different ferry lines across the

country also requires the system to be

flexible and adaptable.

Port efficiencyThe CarRes system, which is in use right

across the Danish Faergen operation,

excels when it comes to port efficiency.

With support both for advanced automa-

tion technology and efficient manned

routines, the turnaround of a vessel with

600 passengers and 122 vehicles in less

than 15 minutes is not a problem.

For an island community where regular

travelers want to be able to turn up and

go, Faergen, with the support of CarRes,

has managed to reduce the required turn

up time to just 10 minutes.

Understanding the ferry businessFor us at Carus, it is of utmost importance

that we understand the real business

requirements of any ferry operator, to

be able to make our system support and

drive their business.

Anders Rundberg, CEO of Carus says:

“We are very happy to see that clients

such as John Steen-Mikkelsen, appreciate

the knowledge and experience our team

provides. It is Carus’ ambition to maintain

our position as market leader and to fur-

ther develop products to meet our ferry

clients’ ever evolving need to be competi-

tive and service focused.”

About Carus

Dear Friends,

First of all we would like to wish you a warm welcome to the 10th annual ”Ferry Shipping Conference onboard”. It is a great pleasure to meet you all and we are pleased to say that it is again, in great numbers. When this event started once on the DFDS Seaways route, Copenhagen- Oslo, we hoped, of course, that it would be for many years ahead. Now when we meet for the 10th time and year, it feels almost a family event within our fascinating industry. We hope that, as always, it will be in a good spirit, with a lot of interesting speeches, debates and networking. As an industry, we stand together and focus on solutions and opportunities. We, the organizers, will do everything we can to make this a positive and fruitful conference.

For 2013, we are very proud to announce, that the 11th annual conference will be arranged on the P&O route Rotterdam-Hull-Rotterdam. It is the first time the event will take place between some of the most important ferry markets the UK and the Netherlands.During this year’s conference, we hope and expect you to be active in the Q+A sessions and the Interactive debate.

Very welcome and have a great time onboard.
