1. Competitors and teachers are asked to read the syllabus carefully as there
are some changes in classes this year.
2. In classes where age limit is specified, the entry form must be signed by a parent
or guardian as a certificate of age. In these classes, age is determined as of
December 31, 2016. Those participants wishing to enter in older classes will be
expected to perform and be adjudicated at that level.
3. Participants are to enter only one class in each section.
4. In classes in which any one of the test pieces is a selection of the competitor’s own
choice, the title, composer and duration of the piece in minutes must be specified
on the entry form. All own choice” entries must be approved by the syllabus
committee; therefore, an original copy of the music must be submitted 24 hours
prior to the performance. Failure to comply with this provision will result in
disqualification. Be sure to have your name and class number on the music
submitted. Own choice selections must not be repeated within a 3 year period by
a performer.
5. No substitute pieces will be accepted for any class.
6. Participants are encouraged to choose Canadian repertoire for their “own
choice” classes.
7. Participants are not to do repeats in a selection unless stated in a particular class
in the syllabus. If a selection has two endings in a particular section, participants
are asked to take the second ending. In such a case that the directions say “De
Capo al Fine etc.”, participants are required to repeat that section as indicated.
Please refer to the syllabus.
8. Participants will be informed of performance dates and times as soon as possible.
9. All participants, classes or individuals must be ready to perform fifteen minutes
before the time set for the class to begin.
10. Absolute silence must be maintained and no person may enter or leave the
auditorium during a performance or adjudication.
