THE Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) in the iLembe District says it is “morethan ready” for today’s election.
352 voting stations are expected to ac-commodate over 304 154 voters during to-day’s general election.
The commission said voters can expectefficient service and short queues.
“Our plan is that a person should notspend more than 45 minutes in the queue to-day,” said regional supervisor of the IEC inthe iLembe District, Paul Daniel.
“We prepared meticulously for the elec-tion. There is a tendency for political parties’temperatures to rise.” he said during aninterview with the Weekly.
Daniel called for tolerance and respectduring theelection, saying the IEC acknowl-edged citizens’ rights to protest, but cau-tioned against infringing on the rights ofothers.
As an election management body, theIEC cannot not enforce the law, and actsof intimidation needed to be reported tothe police, he said.

GREATER KwaDukuza regionaltreasurer of the ANC, ThulaniNtuli, has taken a swipe at “re-
actionary forces” who are “trying tosow seeds of division and hate againstthe Indian origin”.
Ntuli was part of a delegation, in-cluding the provincial chairman of theANC Senzo Mchunu, regional chair-man and secretary Thokozani Msweliand Muzi Sithole, conducting a door-to-door campaign in the Etete area.
“In the context of the struggle forfreedom, Indian people, just like thecoloured people, have always beenpart of the oppressed black majority,”Ntuli told the Weekly.
“Therefore, Indians have neverbeen mere auxiliaries in the strugglefor freedom as may be suggested bysome, whose sole intention is to di-vide the blackmajority for political ex-pediency.” Ntuli said the promotion ofnon-racialism was the strength and
uniqueness of South Africa and theruling ANC. “We pride ourselves onour track record of non-racialism. It isgenuine and is tried and tested.
“Our non-racialism and in particu-lar the unity of the oppressed, was in-evitable, given that during our strug-gle for liberation, Indians, colouredsand Africans, as black people, shareda common fate. The liberation of onegroup was inextricably linked to thatof the other.”
Mchunu reassured people that thegovernment’s post-apartheid policyformulations and perspectives wereaimed at redressing the inequalitiesand injustices of the apartheid era.
“When we conceptualise policiessuch as Affirmative Action, BroadBased Black Economic Empower-ment, the Employment Equity Act andothers, we proceed from the under-standing that we need to correct theinjustices of the past meted outagainst Africans, Indians, colouredsand women.
“Since the inception of democracyin 1994, we have implemented poli-cies whose mainobjectives are to cre-ate jobs, eliminate poverty and re-duce inequality. The government willin the next five years relentlessly pur-sue these policies in order to ensureour economy truly reflects the demo-graphics of our country.
“While we have made progress onthis front, much more remains to bedone as indicated by the recent reportreleased by the Commission for Em-ployment Equity which showed thatrepresentations have only grownfrom 23.7 per cent to 33.2 per centover the past 10 years.”
Mchunu emphasised that the biastowards the Indian-origin, Africanand colouredpeoplewasnotmeant topolarise society but was the most de-cisive intervention towards redressandsocialcohesion. “White compatri-ots must never feel excluded in thisimportant project of building a non-racial, non-sexist ...South Africa.”

BREAKING: In a move called‘dumband incredibly danger-ous’, members of the South
African government who sit in exec-utive positions have taken a unani-mous vote to ‘tell the truth at allcosts’. Thedecision allegedlymateri-alisedafter an international billion-aire funder–whowill remain anony-
mous until some random 12-year-old hacks official emails – is said tohave pledged one million US dollarsfor each ‘truth’ told in parliamentand at public rallies and conferenc-es. Themove comes after the billion-aire allegedly had the revelationwhile beating his head against abrick wall at the anticipate outcomeof South Africa’s recently-held na-tional election.
Such was the enthusiasm of thenation’s public servants to ‘get in-volved and make a difference’through ‘Truthgate’ that for the firsttime in its recorded history, all rep-resentatives stayed awake duringthe latest parliamentary sitting inorder to vote.
This included an 85-year-old po-litical veteran who was alleged to bein a coma for the last 20 years.
Speaking after the voting ses-sion, one official started tallying onhis fingers while telling the floor:
“Comrades, I am happy with theoutcome of the vote because itgrates my biscuit to sit here and lieabout having a master’s degree inpolitics.
“I am just a failed chef with a KFCfetish.Also, I amsickof calling every-one comrade, it’s very 1994.”
A second official then took to thefloor and, producing an abacus fromher Prada handbag, stated the fol-lowing: “Fellow countrymen andwomen, I am excited at the potentialupliftment that can be achievedthrough ‘Truthgate’.
“Finally I have a chance to tell myconstituents that an overflowingsewage pipe alongside a crèche isnot a healthhazard–it is an opportu-nity for the community to pull to-gether and shovel the sh*t them-selves.
“The sh*t can then be used as anice compost on the communityvegetable garden that we may build
for them in 2016 or 2017.“In the interim, the shovelled sh*t
can be placed next to the rounda-bout and slide as a little climbingmountain for kiddies.”
Speaking from uMhlanga aftertaking her vote via Skype during abotox party, one official told theWeekly: “The potential ramifica-tions of ‘Truthgate’ are enormousand heartening.
“With ‘Truthgate’ comes the op-portunity to finally meet ourmillen-nium development goals – the onesthat have been slightly tweaked forour area.
“Truthgate finally gives me theopportunity to satisfy my Messiahcomplex and to emulate my hero,Oprah, by canvassing amongst themiddle and working classes. I nowfeel no shame in donning my latexgloves so that I can give salesassist-ants and domestic workers a littlepat on their grubby clothing.
“In fact, I can now unashamedlyutilise public funds tobooka five-starretreat and take potential femalevoters from the street there in orderto give them free manicures andpedicures.
“It may be true that education isimportant, but looking good whileyou are getting educated can go along way in building a girl-child’sprospects; this way she can marryrich and will hopefully never have tothink independently again.
“I get one, you get one, we allget free manis and pedis,” sheyelled.
UPDATE: The billionaire funder hassince clarified that he will, in fact,be paying those partaking in ‘Truth-gate’ in the Zimbabwean dollar, adefunct currency. People inter-viewed for this article have since de-nied any knowledge of ‘Truthgate’ ormaking the above statements.

MINORITY Front LeaderShameen Thakur Rajbansidenounced the “pissing DAcartoon” asdamning, immor-al, senseless, defamatory andunethical.
This is a direct insult to allMinority Front supportersand the lndian community. Iam shocked and disgusted atthe political campaigning ofsome DA members who cir-culated this cartoon on socialmedia and emailed it to ourleader and myself.
“This action violates theelectoral code of conduct, signed by the leader HelenZille,” stated Mrs Rajbansi, and social sites must not beused to defame people or or-ganisations.
This cartoon has hurt thedignity of the lndian commu-nity as it displays the arro-gance of a supremist colonial
mentality over the MinorityFront which is home to thou-sands of lndian voters.
No amount of reasonableexplanation will absolve thecreator of this unethical car-toon that damages the abso-lute fabric of our society anddemocracy.
The Minorty Front logo issacred to the party and itssupporters.
This act is malicious andthe work of desperate candi-dates who stoop to the levelof human rights violations intrying to please their mastersfor their positions.
The perpetrators who cre-ated this defamatory cartoon
must be prosecuted by theElectoral Commission.
The Minority Front haslaid formal charges at SAPSfor investigation and has re-ported the matter to the Hu-manRights Commission andto Facebook,.
This cartoon has violatedthe Minorty Front's rights fora free and fair election, be-cause it has gone viral on so-cial networks, inducing hate-speech and racism.
The community must nowbe the judge.
Mrs Rajbansi stated thatthe vote of lndian people willmake history on 7May, but itwill be for the Minority Front- the real home for all lndians.
We are not deterred andthe Tiger’s legacy will not bedestroyed, as the car-toon predicts.

SOUTH Africa is a country born out of aturbulent history, where racial discriminationreigned supreme.
Our freedom from Apartheid occurred be-cause of the countless sacrifices of blacks, whites, Indians and coloureds respectively.
Our fight for democracy was exactly that, afight fordemocracy; a system where eachper-son irrespective of their race, ethnicity orcreed, could vote and support theparty of theirchoice.
We cannot mandate people to think theway we do, neither can we force people tosupport a specific political party.
Being part of a democracymeans respect-ing each person’s right to hold their ownpolitical views.
Former President Nelson Mandela clearlyelucidated that ademocracyallows for adiver-sity of opinion, and a diversity of politicalviews. He also emphasized that those viewsmust be respected and protected. This is pre-ciselywhy Ihavebeen calling for the establish-ment of a Ministry forMinority Affairs, to en-
sure that the specific issues faced by minoritycommunities are addressed.
I therefore think Visvin Reddy needs toconsult his own party and ensure that hisstatements are in line with the party's man-date, before he makes loose assertions basedon anger and contempt, which ultimatelybreeds greater seeds of division.
As a nation, there is somuch that unites us.We have a glorious shared history born out ofa struggle for a non-racial society. This is anideal which was cherished by both MahatmaGandhi and Nelson Mandela, iconic leadersthat understood the importance of creatingunity among people from various back-grounds.
The oppression and subjugation of the In-dian community in South Africa over the lasthundred years has left an indelible scar, whichhasty statements and confrontation will notsolve.
Mr. Reddy, I am sure, can acknowledge thatmany in our community have not beenmen-tally liberated from the yolk of their formermasters.
Therefore, wemustworkconstructivelyandwith humility to release our community fromthe shackles of cerebral slavery, which stillbinds us to our former colonial masters.

L“WHENEVER and wherever there is a de-cline in religious practice, O descen-dant of Bharata, and a predominant
rise of irreligion–at that time I descend Myself.”These are words spoken by Lord Krishna to Arju-
na during the war in the Bhagavad Gita.In one such manifestation, the lord appeared
as Narasimhadev the fourth incarnation of MahaVishnu – the Man-Lion incarnation that tore theworld asunder in the ferocity of the event.
He appeared to protect his beloved devoteePrahlad from the demonic Hiranyakashipu.
The evil Hiranyakashipu had obtained a boonfrom Lord Brahma that he will not be killed byman or beast, in the day or at night, by any kind ofweapon, neither on earth nor in the sky and neitherinside nor outside the house. After obtaining theboon, he felt he was unstoppable and was cruel andespecially hostile to the devotees of the SupremeLord Narayana.
Little Prahlad, the son of Hiranyakashipu, wasa saintly child who worshiped the Lord.
Hearing this, a highly disturbed Hiranyakashipustarted plotting the death of his own son by poi-
soning him, throwing him off a cliff, burning himalive.
However, each time Prahlad emerged unharmedand protected.
Finally, in a state of great fury, he asked Prahlad:“Where is your Lord Vishnu to whom you pray somuch.”
To which Prahlad calmly replied: “He is every-where, within and out in every single atom of theuniverse.”
This made Hiranyakashipu very angry and hepointed to a large pillar and asked Prahlad whetherLord Vishnu was inside the pillar, to which he gavean affirmative reply. This enraged him and hestruck the pillar, at which moment there was agreat noise as if the entire world was torn apart.
Amazed at this event, everyone watched as theterrifying Man-Lion form of the Lord appearedfrom the pillar.
Lord Narasimha attacked Hiranyakashipu anddragged the demon-king to the doorstep, placedhim upon his lap, and using his lightning-like nails, tore him apart. It was twilight, and every single as-pect of the boon that had been promised to Hiran-
yakashipu by Lord Brahma had been honoured in itsentirety.
At that time, the rage of the Lord Narasimhacould not be pacified by anybody. The demigods fi-nally requested Prahlad to step forward and pacifyLord Narasimha. Lord Narasimha seeing Prahlad im-mediately calmed down and smiled.
Whenever the Supreme Lord descends uponearth, he comes to help mankind follow the spiritualpath through Righteous actions. Hiranyakashipurepresents one’s ego and Prahlada exemplifiespure Bhakti (devotion). Hence, we learn that if wetruly surrender to the Supreme Lord with pureBhakti, we can destroy our ego, as the ego and themind are the obstacles to the spiritual path. One,who surrenders to the Supreme Lord, will always beprotected by him.
There are only two Narashima temples in SouthAfrica, one in KwaDukuza and the other in AllanManor in Johannesburg.
We therefore, extend an invitation to the com-munity to attend and celebrate Narashima Chatur-thi and receive Lord Narasimhadev’s protectionfrom all negativity and evil forces.
