From Our Presidents
There were sure a lot of smiles at the December Guild Meeting!
In case you missed out on the fun, the Aloha Strummers of
Mission Viejo wonderfully entertained us. Thanks to the
leadership of Gina Connoy and the bass guitar accompaniment of
Paul Levy. We enjoyed the ukulele, dancing, island sound, and
exercise! It is impossible to say the word ukulele without a smile.
It is so obvious the entire group is very talented and enjoys playing
the ukulele together! It was a special treat to have our own quilter,
Eileen Wintemute, and her group “Wahines” play a special number for us.
Thanks Kathy, Bonnie and Julia for arranging this fun evening!
Sharon and I would like to wish all of you a Healthy and Happy New Year!!!!
Linda Smith & Sharon Ludwig, Co-Presidents
Kathy Keefer & Bonnie Bennett, 1st Vice President Co-chairs
Coming Attractions January 8, 2018
To start the New Year we welcome a local quilt artist and
teacher, Tina Curran. As a life-long sewer Tina took to
quilting quickly and finds great joy in the options that
contemporary quilts provide. She also appreciates the
American roots of traditional quilting and the unlimited
possibilities of today's art quilts. This often results in the
uses of contemporary fabrics and century-old patterns.
Tina's art quilts have been on display in many art shows,
including Road to California, International Quilt Festival
and the American Quilter's Society in Paducah. Her work has appeared in
national quilt magazines such as Quilters' Newsletter and Quiltmaker over 20
times. In addition to creating new designs and teaching she has an Etsy shop
online, sells her patterns on Craftsy and creates quilts on commission.
Join us to hear and see Tina's presentation entitled "My Excellent Adventures
As A Quilter" and trunk show, which encompasses her development as a quilt
artist from beginner to today.

Membership
Our membership renewal is in February but you can get a head start by printing the renewal form now
and doing the following:
— Check the directory to see if your name, address, telephone numbers, birthday, and email address are
correct.
— Fill out the information at the top of the form.
— If you have any correction/change, complete the bottom portion of the form.
— Bring the membership form and your $40 check or cash to the February meeting.
Please help us by only completing the bottom portion of the membership form if you have changes/
corrections. By just giving us changes/cor rections and by renewing on time you will enable us to
distribute the new directory at the April meeting. Thanks for your help!
Time to Step Forward!
We are a group of volunteers and we need you to volunteer to help next year. Please take a look in
your Membership directory (pages 2-3) at the list of committees and volunteer for something. Most
jobs can be shared. Some jobs take some time during the month and other jobs are pretty much done
at the Guild meeting. Please give Michelle Howe, Linda Smith, or Sharon Ludwig a call if you want
more information about a position. We look forward to working with you next year!!
Color and Quilting Workshop in April
In January we will open sign-ups for Christine Barnes' workshop on color coming to Flying Geese
Quilters Guild in April. This sought-after color expert will teach the concepts essential to making each
of your quilt blocks read color, pattern and value in a yummy pattern called "Spumoni". You can never
learn too much about color for your quilts. A must for all level quilters. Don't be left out!

Hospitality
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
Three words describe your contributions to our very special Christmas Guild meeting! Because of
everyone’s participation, we enjoyed a party in the grand tradition: great food and great friendship,
topped by the fun of joining together to sing our favorite Christmas carols. It would have been a
fabulous YouTube event! “The Twelve Days of Christmas” gone viral! And I’m sure whenever we
hear “Let it Snow”, we will be humming “Let Me Sew, Let Me Sew, Let Me Sew!” We are indeed a
resourceful group…
Our Hospitality team will be “manning the tables” for the last time at our January meeting. It has been a
true pleasure for us over the last two years, and we have enjoyed every single minute of it!
If you are looking to get involved, please step forward to volunteer…it’s amazing how fun it can be to
show up with a few plates, cups, and napkins, and just like magic goodies start to appear…how DOES
that happen?
So a fond farewell from our team, and a heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and generosity.
P. S. As always, goodies are appreciated for the January meeting…
