Explore the Viking Triangle in Ireland’s oldest city

A variety of Excursion OptionsWaterford offers cruise passengers an option that no other port in Ireland can: a short drive to The House of Waterford Crystal with its retail store and factory tour, where visitors can marvel as master craftsmen transform molten crystal into exquisite pieces. This can be accommodated on a variety of stimulating half day or full day excursions while still leaving time for passengers to choose additional excursions.

The historic South East region, dotted with medieval castles and monasteries offers an unrivalled visitor insight into this ancient and mysterious landscape.

Geographically compact and linked by five great river systems the region boasts a comprehensive range of attractions. This allows innovative handling agents to offer an extensive range of authentic cultural experiences including the Ros Tapestry and Wexford’s stunning Opera House, home to its prestigious Festival.

Ireland’s Celtic, Christian, Viking, and Norman past can be experienced at the many heritage sites located in the South East: from the Dunbrody famine ship in New Ross, County Wexford, to the mighty Rock of Cashel in Tipperary to the award winning Museum of Treasures or the magnificent Kilkenny Castle, to name a few.

The South East is also home to many of the world’s finest gardens, including, Mount Congreve (ranked in the World’s Top Ten) Lismore Castle Gardens, JF Kennedy Park Arboretum, Johnstown Castle Gardens, and Woodstock Gardens beside the beautiful village of Inistioge, the setting of many films.

Renowned as the Sunny South East, Waterford’s comparatively milder and sunnier climate makes it ideal for shoulder season visits.

Our suggested tour stops and excursion routes will introduce you to many of the region’s most scenic locations, traditional villages and some hidden gems.

Renowned the world over for its luxury lifestyle brand, The House of Waterford Crystal, with its fascinating factory tour and opulent retail store housing the largest collection of Waterford Crystal in the World. Guided factory tours give visitors an up close and personal insight into centuries old tradition of crystal making.

The House of Waterford Crystal islocated in the heart of the City’s Historic Viking Quarter, which also hosts the splendid Theatre Royal

and Bishops Palace (opening June 2011). Waterford City, Ireland’s oldest city and home to numerous historic buildings and museums, has been the home of crystal production in Ireland’s for over 200 years. Waterford and the South East region promise a wonderful opportunity to experience the country’s unique heritage, vibrant cities, towns and villages set in a spectacularly stunning landscape.
