Load the mixed epoxy into a syringe (unless its pre-loadedof course). Inject the epoxy into the back end of the connector ferrule. Insert the prepared cable into the connector such that thebared fiber is inserted into the ferrule hole. Insert until thecable seats inside the connector. The fiber will beprotruding out the front of the ferrule by typically inch. Crimp: If the connector is being installed onto jacketedfiber, a crimping operation is required to retain theconnector onto the cable strength members and jacket. Thisis usually accomplished via use of a crimp sleeve and, inorder to retain the connector onto the cables strengthmembers as well as the jacket, two crimps are typicallyrequired. 6. Insertthe bare fiber into the connector Perform crimping Cleaving (manual or auto) 7. PATCHCORD 8. Apatch cable or patch cord isan electrical or optical cable used toconnect ("patch-in") one electronic oroptical device to another for signalrouting. Firstly, Crimping kevlar sleeve onto theconnector Slide the strain relief boot up to theconnector 9. A fibre is a single short, usually unbuffered, optical fibre that has an optical connector on oneend and a length of exposed fibre athe otherend. The end of the pigtail is stripped and fusionspliced to a single fibre of a multi-fibre trunk tobreak out the multi- fibre cable into itscomponent fibres for connection to the endequipment. Pigtails can have female connectors and bemounted in a patch panel A plastic boot is normally used for strain reliefand protection from moisture. 10. Insertion Loss & Return Loss Return Loss are two importance data toevaluate the quality of many passive fiberoptic components, such as fiber opticpath cord and fiber connectors, etc. 19. Insertion Loss refers to the fiber optic light losscoused when a fiber optic component insert intoanother one to from the fiber optic link. Insertion losscan result from absorption, misalignment or air gapbetween the fiber optic components. Return Loss is the fiber optic light gets reflectedback at the connection point. The higher return lossmeans the lower reflection and better the connection.According to industry standard, Ultra PC polishedfiber optic connectors return loss should be morethan 50dB, Angled polished generally return loss ismore than 60dB. PC type should be more than 40dB.
