40 * Description: Students will complete a 24-hour virtual field experience with a general elementary

teacher. Each student will work directly with his or her assigned teacher to schedule three hours of virtual

observation per week. Minimum time requirements for virtual observation span 8 weeks, for a total of 24

hours. This time should include structured observations of instruction and meeting with the partnership

teacher. This lab will also provide the university student with an immersion experience in the elementary

school classroom that will allow the student to observe and experience firsthand the expectations,

requirements, procedures, and dynamics inherent with classroom teaching.

In addition, students will complete a separate 16-hour alternative assignment provided by their UNCW

course instructor, for a total of 40 hours of field experience. Details for this assignment will be

communicated to the student by the course instructor.
