5th grade ELAWe have completed Personal Narratives this quarter, in which students wrote a true story about an event or sequence of events in their lives. The topic can range in complexity from a story that is simple and entertaining to a story that is complex and riveting. The purpose of this assignment was to develop real experiences or events using an effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. Students produced clear and coherent writing, and with guidance and support from peers and teachers, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, and rewriting.The final round of the Spelling Bee was conducted last month and the top winners will attend the regional fair in February 2019.Sis. ASA Parents, We have had quite a busy month in Art and Physical Education classes these past month and a half. Our students have started to practice the idea of optical illusions so they can be better adapted to the use of color, light and patterns. Focus on these factors will allow them to create images that can be deceptive or misleading to the brains of observers. Arabic Newsletter for 5th gradeCannot believe how second quarter flew by! We have finished unit 2 (Jobs & Profession)text 1. Fifth graders also learned about Zaynab’s family members and their jobs indetails, they could tell about their family members jobs as well through (unit project). They read the story of (The ant and the cricket) text 2 and they could analyze it in details MashAllah. They learned how to form the rules of dual and plural nouns and also worked on the two kinds of taa (short and long). Students practiced a lot of reading and writing in this unit Alhamdolillah. Our students were very excited to find out whathappened to the Ant after it was saved from drowning in the pond (text 1, unit 3 Helping and Working Together). They are capable of answering questions related to understanding the text. Sis. Nafen

Technology Students are

continuing their coding lessons on code.org and are working towards

finalizing the writing portion of

the digital storybook. The

next process of the storybook is to

work on the design portion.

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Alhamdulillah! All praise to Allah (swt) who enabled us to complete this month of School successfully. Alhamdulillah, we were able to learn about prophet’s of Islam, prophets and messengers, prophet Nuh along with that they worked on a project on Prophets andMessengers with multiple quizzes and test. Alhamdulillah!! For the coming month in sha Allah we plan to do lot more with kidslearning about prophet Hud, Salih and Islamic Character engaging them in Quizzes, Activities and Projects on the same. In sha AllahWe pray that Allah (swt) puts Barakah in our time and make our students righteous Leaders of the Believers. Ameen Sis Misbah

Islamic Studies

ScienceThe chapter we have been working on has

been very interesting for students. We are

comparing plants and animals and

discussing their survival traits. We have also

planted our bean seeds which has helped to

make our learning experience more hands on.

During this unit we also had the chance to

include a discussion about the ways Deen and

Islamic teachings relate to what we are

currently learning. I am quite happy to report

that as of now our class average 100.3%! This

means students have been working extra hard

this quarter. Congratulations 5th grade!
