Prayers

A Prayer After Receiving Holy Communion

Anima Christi Soul of Christ, be my sanctification;

Body of Christ, be my salvation; Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;

Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains; Passion of Christ, my comfort be;

O good Jesus, listen to me; In Thy wounds I fain would hide; Ne'er to be parted from Thy side;

Guard me, should the foe assail me; Call me when my life shall fail me;

Bid me come to Thee above, With Thy saints to sing Thy love,

World without end. Amen. A Spiritual Communion Prayer for those unable to

receive the Eucharist My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I de-sire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiri-tually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweet-ness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R/: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wicked-ness and snares of the Devil. May God re-buke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

“Entrusted with Responsibility” Please spend some time this week reflecting on the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure which are available in the pews. Please re-member that the Annual Catholic Appeal is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments. As you review the work enabled by your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal, please reflect on God’s gifts to you. He has given you all that you have. With these gifts, you are entrusted with responsibility. Your gifts to our parish, to the Archdiocese and to the work of the Church throughout the world should be given in gratitude for the continuing gifts that God gives you. Each pledge makes a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services. Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they fund a significant portion of the work of our Archdiocese. After our parish goal of $35,827.08 is reached in cash, 100% of any additional funds come back to our parish to help to fund our needs. While this goal will is assigned to us this year, rest assured that there is no responsibility to fulfill this goal during the first year (active phase) of the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign which St. Thecla will participate in this coming July 2015.

Saint Thecla’s Catholic Schools Week

Recently, Saint Thecla School celebrated Catholic Schools Week. All of the corresponding activities were a tremendous success. The week began with Mass, and our annual open house. Students across every grade level displayed their projects, presentations, writing, and artwork around the school. Parents visited the incredible exhibits such as, the science fair and the history museum. The fun continued with a “teacher swap”. With a wide variety of age groups in one building, there are many students that the teachers do not get the opportunity to interact with regularly. The teacher swap allowed just that. Teachers from primary grades were able to switch with middle school teachers. It was exciting to move teachers around for a short time to experience a new grade level of students. Each class had the opportunity to get to know another teacher in the building, or a chance to reminisce with one that taught them in the years past.

Later, we practiced our team-building skills. We gathered all of the students into the gym to play “Moon-ball”. Moon-ball is a game that requires a team to work together to prevent a ball from ever hitting the ground. This was a fun competition between each grade level! Next, the student body gathered to cheer on their peers in the annual school spelling bee. Four students from each grade level were represented at the start of the bee. It was evident that many students worked hard to prepare. After spelling numerous rigorous words, Alexandra Trekas (8th grade), was the first place winner. Abbie Alonzo (8th grade) took second place, and Ryan Ferguson (6th grade), was our third place winner. We are very proud of all the participants. The week concluded with a presentation put on by a martial arts instructor.

The students observed many incredible self-defense techniques. Students were given the opportunity to break a wooden board! This was a fun and exciting week for Saint Thecla students. We have a fantastic school community, and had a great week of cele-brating student achievement.

The pictures below are from the ancient Chinese museum the 6th grade class designed and created! Great work!
