School News

Performances of Shrek the Musical will begin on Wednesday, March 16 at 1 pm with the school perfor-mance, followed by evening performances Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18 at 7 pm. This will be St Brigid's 13th musical production. Shrek the Musical Jr. is approximately a 1-hour condensed version of the Broadway production, and is free and open to the public.

Members of the cast were asked to share why they audi-tioned for the musical and what they have learned about themselves in the short seven weeks of rehearsing. Here are some of their answers:

I love sharing my talents with others to bring them joy.

Over the years our director has taught me to be myself no

matter what and to not be ashamed of my God-given gifts.

I have learned that everyone here is so supportive of my

decisions and that we all help each other to get better.

I have learned that we are all one big family.

I have learned that people have different acting talents but

they are all unique and different.

I also learned that by praying and with strength from God,

I've been able to balance school, musical and homework.

Ms. B. and Mrs. Fro make the experience fun and I am

learning that I can actually sing and dance!

The experience over the years taught me a great amount

about self-confidence and the importance of cooperation.

ST. BRIGID IS MY HOME - by the Frieburger Family

There are a wide variety of answers to the question, "What makes a great Catholic family?" Of course, there are the obvious answers of a family praying together and a family loving one another. But it's not just those actions that make a great Catholic family. It's also the way you treat others, those who you know and those you may not. It's about stepping outside your comfort zone and treating those you may not know with love. When we moved to central Ohio 13 years ago, we knew this was going to be our "home". With neither of our families close-by, it was important for us to find a Church that we felt comfortable in, and one that was welcoming. Upon walking in to St.

Brigid Church in the fall of 2005, we just felt this is where we belonged. The Church was not only beautiful and had the "this is where we belong" feel -- everyone was, and continues to be, very welcoming. From the birth of our oldest in 2006, through the birth of our youngest in 2012, St. Brigid has become our family. From weekly Mass to getting involved with the Church and school to other various activities, we are always running in to someone from St. Brigid. They are always stopping to catch up and see what's new in our lives -- treating us as their own family.

We are proud to be witnesses to so many great Catholic families here at St. Brigid. We look for-ward to the years to come!

FASTING and ABSTINENCE during LENT:

ABSTINENCE from meat is to be observed by all Cath-olics 14 years of age and older on Ash Wednesday and on all Fr idays of Lent.

FASTING is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59. Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are allowed as needed, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. Exceptions being those persons who are ill or have other medical con-ditions.

Remember to wear your 10,000 Hour Prayer Challenge button during Lent as a reminder to pray every day, and as a sign of St. Brigid of Kildare’s solidarity and commitment to prayer and hospitality this Lenten season.
