For this Capstone Assignment you need to complete the Publisher Section, not the Emerging Technologies. The Emerging Technologies section will be talked about in class. 2. Remove the test that reads: Fax: 212-555-90893. With page 1 selected, click Insert > Picture and navigate to the data files for this project. Click

PProj66image1.jpg and then click Insert.4. Click Picture Tools Format > Crop. Drag the cropping handles to create a tight crop around the

front dog's head.5. Click Picture Tools Format > Picture Shape > Oval. Adjust the shape of the oval using the

cropping handles so the picture is as wide as the column and includes the dog's ears but as little of the background dog as possible.

6. Click Picture Tools Format > Contrast > +10%.7. Click Picture Tools Format > Picture Style More button > Picture Style 22. Then click Picture

Tools Format > Picture Border > Accent 1 (RGB (119, 95, 85)).8. Position the picture with the top of the border at the 1 inch ruler guide. Adjust width if necessary

to fit within the column guides.9. Click Insert > WordArt > Gradient Fill - Purple, Outline - White.

10. Type Pet Rescue in the Edit WordArt Text dialog box and then click OK to insert the graphic. Move it below the dog image in the right column of page 1, and adjust the width to stretch the graphic from the left column border to the right margin guide.

11.With the graphic still selected, click WordArt Tools Format > Shape Fill > Accent 1 (RGB (119, 95, 85)).

12. Click Insert > Shapes > Rectangle and draw a rectangle as tall as the page (8.5 inches) and 3.8 inches wide. Align the top, right, and bottom edges of the shape with the page edges. The left edge of the shape should extend into the gutter space between the center and right columns.

13. Right-click the shape, click Format AutoShape, and click the Fill Effects button. Create a gradient as follows:

a. Click Two colors.b. Click the Color 1 drop-down arrow and click Accent 4 (RGB (235, 221,195)). Click the

Color 2 drop-down arrow and click Accent 5 (White).c. Click the Vertical shading style, and then click the upper-right variant. Click OK.d. In the Line area, click the Color drop-down arrow and click No Outline. Click OK.

14. Click Drawing Tools Format > Send Backward > Send to Back.15. Click the address text box, click Drawing Tools Format > Shape Styles More button > Diagonal

Gradient - Accent 4.

Complete Page 11. Click Insert > Clip Art, and type the keyword cat. Click the Results should be drop-down arrow

and select only Photographs. Click Go. In the search results choose the picture of a cat that shows a close-up of a cat looking at the camera and cropped off at the top and right sides. (See graphic below)

2. Crop about 0.75 inch from the left side of the picture. Then resize the picture to be 3.2 inches wide.

3. Click Picture Tools Format > Rotate > Flip Horizontal. Then position the picture in the left column to align the top with the 1 inch ruler guide and the left side with the left margin.

4. Click Picture Tools Format > Wrap Text > Tight. Then click Wrap Text > Edit Wrap Points. Adjust the wrap points to create a fairly tight border around the cat.

Complete Page 21. Click Insert > Picture and navigate to the data files for this project. Click PProj66_image2.jpg

and then click Insert.2. Click Picture Tools Format > Crop and then crop the picture attractively using the "rule of

thirds" or "fill the frame" focus. Then adjust the picture to be 3.2 inches wide and position it in the lower-left corner of the page.

3. Click Picture Tools Format > Contrast > +10%.4. With the picture still selected, click Picture Tools Format > Caption > Reversed - Layout 2.

Type the caption YourFirstName was a feral cat who was successfully trapped, spayed, and adopted.

✓ If adding the caption does not cause the first line of the Some of the services paragraph to move to the center column, click Caption > No caption, and then adjust the cropping to increase the height of the picture.

5. Click Insert > Picture Placeholder. By dragging the right side and bottom center selection handles, resize the placeholder to 2.7 inches high by 3.2 inches wide. Position the placeholder at the top of the right column, with the top border at the 1 inch ruler guide.

6. If necessary, click Insert > Clip Art to open the Clip Art task pane. Type dog cat in the Search box. Click the Results should be drop-down arrow and select only Photographs. Click Go.

7. In the search results, find a picture of a cat rubbing its head against a dog's nose. (See graphic on the next page.) With the picture placeholder selected, click the clip art picture to insert it. Adjust the position of the two animals in the placeholder, and then click off the picture to accept the crop.

8. Start Excel and open PProj66b.xlsx from the data files for this project.9. Select the range A4:D12, and click Home >Copy.10. Switch to Publisher, and click Home > Paste dropdown arrow > Paste Special. Click Microsoft

Excel Worksheet Object to embed the worksheet, and then click OK.11. Position the embedded object at the top of the center column on page 2, within the column guides.12.Double-click the object to open it for editing, and click in cell D5.Type the formula =B5-C5 and

press ENTER13. Click in cell D5 again, click Home > Copy, drag over cells D6:D12, and click Home >Paste.14. Adjust the position of the data to display at the top of the diagonal-line border, and then drag the

bottom border down to display all data. Click outside the object twice to close it.15. Click Insert > Shapes > Line, and then draw a straight horizontal line just above the text box in

the center column.16. Click Drawing Tools Format > Shape Outline > Followed Hyperlink (RGB (153,102, 0)),

Lighter 40%. Then click Shape Outline > Weight > 4 ½ pt.17. Close the publication, saving all changes, and exit Publisher. Exit Excel.

Publisher Project 82 – Master It – Newsletter (pages 365–367 in the eText)In this project, you will create a two-page newsletter for the local chapter of your fan club.

Directions1. Start Publisher, if necessary, and create a publication based on the Blends Newsletter template

using the Two-page spread page size. Use the default template color and font schemes and include the customer address.

2. Save the publication as Lastname_Firstname_PProj82 in your capstone folder.3. Delete pages 2 and 3.4. Apply a 2-column layout to both remaining pages.5. On page 1, replace the business name with YourFirstName YourLastName Fan Club, the sample

newsletter title with The YourLastName Report, and Newsletter Date with the actual date.6. Delete the Inside this issue placeholder.7. Replace the Lead Story Headline text with YourFirstName Comes to Town!8. Replace the lead story text by inserting the text from the Word document PProj82_import1.docx

from the data files for this project. Cancel Autoflow.9. Manually link the lead story text to the left text box on page 2 under the Back Page Story Headline,

deleting the remaining sample text in the right text box if necessary.10. Turn off automatic hyphenation for the story and insert Continued to and Continued from

indicators.11. In the story, replace every occurrence of Benjamin with your first name and every occurrence of

Price with your last name. You may need to change every “he” to “she” as well.12. On page 1, ungroup the sample picture and the caption and delete the caption.13. Replace the sample picture with a picture of you. Crop the picture as necessary to display only

your face, and position it between the two columns of text, below the headline (See graphic on the next page).

picture to fill the space where the second column of text would be (see graphic below).23. Use Find and Replace to replace all occurrences of the text clarinet with the text tuba.24. Check the spelling in the publication, correct errors, and save the changes.25. Close the publication, saving all changes, and exit Publisher.

Login to Blackboard and go to Assignments | Publisher / Emerging Technologies CapstoneAttach the two Publisher documents and submit your assignment

Emerging Technologies Section

Skype

Skype is a great application that enables you to make free audio and video calls to other Skype users (or inexpensive phone calls to cell phones and land lines). This makes it a valuable business tool.

1. Go to http://skype.com and download Skype2. Run the SkypeSetup.exe file to install Skype3. If the installer offers to install additional toolbars, don’t install them4. When the installer is finished, Start Skype5. Create an account6. Edit your Skype profile to include a picture of your face7. Work with a classmate (or a friend or relative), so you can add each other as contacts8. Have a voice conversation over Skype or if you have a webcam, include video9. Capture the window during the call

a. Make sure the windows shows your picture (upper-left), your name, and the name of the person you are calling

b. Use Insert | Screenshot | Screen Clipping function to place it into a Word document and save it as Lastname_Firstname_Skype_SkyDrive.docx

c. Your window will likely look somewhat different than the following screen because it was done on a Macintosh

SkyDrive

Microsoft SkyDrive allows you to store documents in the cloud and access them from almost any device and any location. It also allows you to share documents with people without the trouble of passing new edits back and forth with memory sticks or via email -- you can do group work without necessarily being in the same room at the same time. With your busy schedule this could make your life simpler

Facebook

Facebook is the most used social networking service in the world, with close to a billion active users. People use it to connect with friends and relatives, and companies use it to advertise their business.

This assignment involves creating a short PowerPoint presentation to educate people about privacy on Facebook.
