Mise en scene:The mise en scene for the beginning of the opening is someone driving down the country side. He then drives to the bar and we see a different man get behind the bar. This mise en scene shows us the setting and makes the audience aware of the characters surrounding.

Sound:The sound in the beginning of

the opening is classic jazz which is iconography in a

1950’s film noir Narrative:There is not much narrative in the beginning however we are shown a specific representation of some of the characters the man that is driving a nice fancy car is shown as more prestige, however the elderly man drinking in the bar is shown as not having much money as the bar tender said he can pay for the drinks another time.

LOCATION AND SETTINGSetting:The first actual setting we see is the bar the film is ‘film noir’ but we can still see this bar is really classy as it is well polished and in film noir everything is grand and posh and this setting is a genre of crime/mystery.

Location:This is the very first location we see in the opening and the audience see the location and immediately associate this with the countryside.

We also see where the car is heading ‘Iron City’ which shows the audience they are aware of the characters surroundings.
