Stereotypical of film posters, ‘Forrest Gump’ has it’s production team’s name, logo and some production members displayed. This information appears to be in smaller font and in a lower key colour because it is not as important for the audience to read as it’s main conventions.

The date being at the bottom of the page stands out in comparison to the anchorage text below. ‘July 6th’ is in larger typography and a blue colour which is visually effective on it’s white background as it will capture the audience’s attention, allowing them to know what day ‘Forrest Gump’ is released.

The photography consists of denotations of the protagonist of the film sitting on a bench in a beige coloured suit with a brief case. The character is looking to the left in an upward direction. The photo conotates as a working class man, the way in which he is looking up signifies that he is a hopeful character which the audience will see as likeable.

The fact that he is sitting alone represents his isolation, this is a visual code to tell the audience that his character is different to other characters and in the film this is reflected through his previous struggles with walking. Because he is isolated the audience will sympathise with him, they may also be drawn into watching the film due to the simplicity of the poster which also symbolises the simplicity of the protagonist that will be portrayed in the film.

The anchorage text is an eye-catching feature of this film poster as the background is white and the typography of blue and red, the red symbolises passion as the film carries a theme of romance, whilst the blue represents the sorrowful elements in it’s content. The typography in small black font written above the film title tells the audience that the this film will be inspirational with it’s words ‘The world will never be the same’.

‘Tom Hanks’ who is a famous actor, has his name written in large font above the film title to state that he plays the protagonist who is ‘Forrest Gump’, this is a form of celebrity endorsement, the audience who see this film poster could be encouraged to watch the film because they may recognise the actor.

Judging by the overall appearance of the film poster, the white background and protagonist looking across into an upward direction signifies that the film could follow Todrov’s theory, which encourages the target audience to see it.
