water treatment

Page 3: Filtration

Hello, today we are going to show you how the water treatment plant works, who were the ones who invented, and what are the benefits of it.

Do you know that here, in the ATID school we use a water filter to purify the water? Well that benefits us in many ways, people who work at school do not have to go to buy any carboy or bottles of water we only use the water treatment plant, it doesn`t pollute and it doesn`t affect us neither the environment.

Page 4: Filtration

The water treatment was invented by the Ancient Greek and Sanskirt writtings in the year 2000 B.C.At this times people boiled the water, but they weren’t sure if it helped purify the water, so they started to invent methods of filtration that helped to reduce visible particles and turbidity in water.they didn’t filtrate the microorganisms or chemical contaminants because they didn’t knew that existed. All they wanted was that the water smelled and tasted better.

There was a greek scientist named Hippocrates, who invented the first cloth bag filter in 500 B.C. he also believed that if the water tasted and smelled clean, it must be healthful for your body.

After the first microscope, Anton van Leeuwenhoek became the first person who discover the microorganisms in water.

What is the relationship between information technology and environment?

Page 7: Filtration

The relationship between information technology and the environment is sort of mixed.  In some ways, IT is good for the environment, but in

other ways it is bad.

Page 8: Filtration

The water treatment plant helped the ancient society in many ways there were no more deceases because of the water, kids were no more sick and they could drink water of any river as long as it was purified, the only thing they had to do was filtrate it and the drink it, now they knew that the water they were drinking was absolutely purified. They didn’t have to last to much hours boiling water that wouldn’t purify.

Page 9: Filtration

Also today it helps, we don´t pollute the environment using big machines, we just use a simple machine that helps purify the water naturally. Also we don´t have to use to much water bottles we can better use the drinking fountain. We can even take a shower with purified water, just the same water you drink!!

How advances in technology have changed with the years? How advances in technology have changed with the years?

Page 11: Filtration

Technology influences human existence by bringing new risks as well as improvements to our lives. To try to minimize the likelihood of unwanted side effects of a new technology, humans will employ risk analysis. You can use the resources found here to help you understand how technology influences human existence by examining the benefits and risks of different biotechnological advances.

Page 12: Filtration

AdvantageTechnology advances show people a more efficient way to do things, and these processes get results. For example, education has been greatly advanced by the technological advances of computers. Students are able to learn on a global scale without ever leaving their classrooms.

Page 13: Filtration

• Agricultural processes that once required dozens upon dozens of human workers can now be automated, thanks to advances in technology, which means cost-efficiency for farmers. Medical discoveries occur at a much more rapidrate, thanks to machines and computers that aid in the research process and allow for more intense educational research into medical matters..

Good: Ideally, IT can be used to help reduce stress on the environment.  A good example of this is the "smart grids" that are under development.

These would, it is hoped, help us use electricity much more efficiently, thus

reducing the demand for electricity and the amount of resources used to

produce that electricity.

Page 15: Filtration

DisadvantageThe more advanced society becomes technologically, the more people begin to depend on computers and other forms of technology for everyday existence. This means that when a machine breaks or a computer crashes, humans become almost disabled until the problem is resolved. This kind of dependency on technology puts people at a distinct disadvantage, because they become less self-reliant.

Page 16: Filtration

Bad: The main problem with IT is the fact that, as we get more and more IT, the demand for electricity rises (as more people want to use electronics in more ways).  This, of course,

means more fossil fuels will be burned to make the electricity.  In addition, some compnents of

electrical devices are very harmful to the environment if not properly disposed of.

HOW HAS TECHNOLOGY AFFECTED YOUR LIFE?

ONE OF THE USEFUL PRODUCTS OF TECHNOLOGY WOULD BE THE TELEVISION. USUALLY, MY FAMILY WOULD SITTOGETHER IN THE LIVING ROOM TO WATCH TELEVISION PROGRAMMES TOGETHER AFTER DINNER. DURING THISTIME, WE WOULD OCCASIONALLY TALK ABOUT THE SHOWS THAT ARE BEING BROADCASTED. THIS ALLOWS MYFAMILY TO INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER MORE OFTEN.N THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TECHNOLOGIES WOULD BE THE INTERNET.

Page 19: Filtration

THE INTERNET IS A SYSTEM, WHICH ALLOWS PEOPLE TO COMMUNICATE GLOBALLY.IN THE OLDEN DAYS, PEOPLEWHO WANTED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR RELATIVES IN FAR AWAY PLACES WOULD HAVE ONLY TWO CHOICES.ONE WAS TO PERSONALLY TAKE THE TROUBLE TO TRAVEL TO THEIR RELATIVES' PLACE AND ANOTHER WOULD BEVIA SENDING LETTERS. BOTH WAYS NEEDED HUGE AMOUNT OF TIME.

Page 20: Filtration

With mobile technology, people'slives are made easier as they can contact each other anywhere and anytime they want technology has affected every part of family life. We are spending more time in doors

than weare outside. The time spent on the computer, watching TV etc.. is about 8 hours a day.

Thistime is usually spent alone and not with the rest of the family. With all the technology we

have nowadays we don't need to get out of the house anymore, youcan do everything from the comfort of your home. Almost everything revolves around

technology now. What do most people do when they come back from school? They usually go

watch TV, go on the computer or something else like that.

How technology benefits your life?

Our civilization has come a long way since the art of making fire and creating handcrafted tools. Man has been powered by his imagination and inquisitive character since time immemorial. The indefatigable quest for truth has led to many a scientific discovery and innovation – intentional and accidental. Thanks to some important inventions and

discoveries, the world has become smaller and more responsive and we are much better off. From telephones to the internet, calculators to computers, cars to rockets and

satellites.

Page 22: Filtration

we are submerged in a sea of discoveries, We owe it to technology for making our

lives simpler, easier and faster and bringing luxuries to the common

pedestal. It has progressed by leaps and bounds in the past few decades making us efficient in executing complex tasks. If you are seeking information on the benefits of technology, the section

below will elaborate on how technology has benefitted us through developments

in its various fields of use.

Page 23: Filtration

Communication has now become cheaper, quicker and more efficient. We can now communicate with anyone around the globe through text messaging or sending an email for an almost instantaneous response.Communication between patients and doctors has become easier, more personal, flexible and more sensitive.Medical research has led to the eradication of many diseases and ailmentsTechnology is an integral part of any business.

Page 24: Filtration

right from the purchase of computers and software to the implementation of network and security tools.

Business organizations can remain up-to-date and drive the business forward. It also helps them sustain and survive competition. E-learning and online education has made it very simple and systematic for an individual to receive personal attention.

Learners are able to take control and manage their own learning.

Page 25: Filtration

THERE ARE MANY WAYS OF WATER FILTRATION SUCH AS:

• nanotechnology in filtration–The technology removes bacteria, microbes and

– other diseases from water using nanoparticles.

–Nano particles release silver ions which

– destroy contaminants.

nanoparticle:A microscopic particle of matter that is measured on the nanoscale, usually one that measures less than 100 nanometers.

membrane chemistryMembranes trough which water passes to be filtered and purified, are integral to modern water treatment processing. The pores used in ultrafiltration can be just 10 or 20 nanometers across-3,000 times finer than human air.

membrane:The thin, limiting covering of a cell or cell part.

waste water processingNew technologies are promising to transform wastewater into a resource for energy generation and a source of drinking water.Modular hybrid activated sludge digesters, for instance, are now removing nutrients to be used as fertilizers an are, in turn, driving down energy requiered for treatment by up to half.seawater desalinationSeawater desalination is extremely expensive. It works by mimicking the biological process by which mangrove plants and euryhaline fish extract seawater using minimal energy. Another new approach is to use biomimetic membranes enhanced with aquaporin: proteins embedded in cell membranes that selectively shuttle water in and out of cells while blocking out salts.

Euryhaline fish:fish that can live in fresh briny or salt water

Fertilizer:Any substance used to fertilize the soil, especially a comercial or chemical manure.
