Main Title:The two titles on the main cover are ‘Rihanna’ and ‘Good Girl Gone Bad Live’. The artists name is usually large in order for the audience to see as they will recognise the artist name and be attracted to it. The font of the artist name is simple and basic, this is effective for the target audience as it is clear for them to read.

Tagline:The tagline, ‘Good girl gone bad live’, refers to her album ‘good girl gone bad’ fans of Rihanna will know this which will appeal to them therefore they will buy it so they can see all the footage of her live show.

Main Image: The main image dominates the cover of the DVD which mainly happens in all DVD covers. Also, the tagline, ‘good girl gone bad live’ links well with the main image as her whole image has changed compared to her before, also with the image being a LIVE photo the audience immediately get an idea of her on the stage, which attracts them to watch the DVD more.

Special Features/ Track list:On the front cover the audience get a description of ‘special features’ this appeals to audience as they get something more which is effective as they would want to know/ see more about there favourite artist.

Spine Title:The spine title is an important element which all DVD’s use, as it makes easier for the audience. This is used in order to help the audience find the DVD without taking it out from stack.

Key Elements..

Key Elements..Back cover

Track list:The track list on the back cover is very important as it allows the audience to know what they expect to see her perform on the DVD. This is relevant as it gives them a little knowledge of what they will see.

Back Cover Image:The back cover image is also taken from a live performance, and from the umbrella’s from her dancers, the targeted audience will immediately know it was taken from the performance of her song ‘Umbrella’. The audience will know from the image itself that this is a song she will cover without reading the track list which is effective as they may want to see this specific song being performed.

Rihanna – “Good Girl Gone Bad Live”

The event being captured is a live Rihanna tour for her new album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’.The DVD is targeting people who are in to the RnB genre, also predominately females. The main people who the DVD is targeting are Rihanna fans as they are most likely to buy the DVD. Also, fans who were not able to attend the tour will be targeted, therefore they wont feel as they have missed out on the tour. The cover revels to the audience that Rihanna has in fact changed her whole image, hence the title of her tour and new album ‘good girl gone bad’. We see Rihanna in a black, leather, revealing outfit. Having her wearing black, a colour which portrays being ‘bad’, and leather signifies to the audience she has actually gone from a ‘good girl’ to a ‘bad girl’. The DVD cover represents her music and her music video’s, especially the back cover image. People who may have only seen the ‘Umbrella’ video once, will immediately know that that performance is to her song ‘umbrella’.

Front cover with an image and blood which runs through the digi-pack with blood splattered on some of the other colours. The theme is carried throughout

This is a Digi-Pack promoting the band ‘Cedigest’ and their new album.

Lyrics from one of the bands songs

This is the track listing and we can see the colour beige has been carried out throughout the digi-on all the covers.

The inside of the Digi-pack which are on either side of the cd & there are lyrics on it.

We see this symbol used on the outside of the cover and once again on the inside.

However the Artist name is not very visible against the background and the typography is quite small, the image is the main focus on the cover. This indicates that the artist wanted the image to be the main focus as its two hands covered in blood this will get a reaction from people, good or bad and draw them to the product.

The lyrics could be from the main songs on the album and these lines also are promoting that song by having

Cedigest

Page 5: Final dvd cover analysis

0 The artist is called Cedigest and they are branded by the image of the bloody hands which can also be seen on other products by them.Regarding the Digipak, the theme of blood runs throughout the covers, with blood splatters shown.

The digipak is constructed in a way in which it can be opened up into 6 pieces. It is made from hard cardboard and folds up to be as small as a cd case.

The dvd is targeting a group which like metal music such as this and we can tell this by the dark colours used, the images of the bloody hands and the blood splattered.

The image the cover gives the audience the message that the music video/performance will be dark/ fast paced and with lots going on.

“Cedigest”

Includes a bar code which is a necessary thing that has to be included within a DVD digipak.

Has a clear title of the artists name, so the audience are aware of who it is

Gives details of what the DVD is about, In this case it’s the Victory Tour (some of the target audience may have been at that event )

Tells the location of where the event look place (Dallas) This may appeal to people who may have gone to the actual event itself

Format Logo

Back Cover Which included information of what is included within the DVD for example a track list of song that will be sung within. This may appeal to the audience because they may enjoy that song and may never have seen him perform live therefore a DVD is a way for them to experience it

Front Cover main image is of Michael himself , looks as if its has been screen shot from the DVD itself because he is singing within the image.

The back cover also included screen shot of the actual performances within the DVD

The artist within my digipak is Micheal Jackson (or the Jacksons) and they are branded mainly by the images/ screenshots that are included on the cover of the digipak.

The digipak is constructed in a very simple way, for example not much information is included within the front or back cover of the digipack and the images that are used through out the product are mainly screen shot from what I assume of the live concert and performances within the actual DVD itself.

I have chosen to do this digipak because it has given me a very clear idea of what may need to be included within our own product that we will be producing. It has also shown me that the most simplest of things can be very effect to its target audience.

The DVD itself I think itself is targeting people that may have been at that actual even itself or people who did wish to go to the concert but were unable too.

The message that I feel that the cover gives to the audience is that the artist has a genuine passion for music and performing mainly by snap shops that are shown in the cover, this may because you are able to see the emotion on this face and also see that the artist is genuinely enjoying himself. It also shows that he is a very performing artist in person and also in music video’s.
