Hard to find. Even harder to find a trustworthy one.
Craigslist fills all my needs for looking for rental opportunities.
not most efficient as a perception
what's in it for them
too expensive
Easy to connect with landlords directly
Who the hell wants to pay a middle man
Don't know
easier to work with friends
Got used to searching on craigslist
I didn't think I needed to pay someone for research I could do by myself
easier to do on own
everything online
no use for a simple lease
relo company provided enough support
Craigslist
NYC real estate broker fee
Hard to get to property managers in NYC
No effective
Paid by the expensive agencies hence they waste your time showing crap first and then something unaafordable
Craigslist is better
Price Less Options Less Independent - feel bound to them
costly they only have expensive rental.
extra delay
Except some markets (such as NYC), it is not hard to find the contacts of rental properties. I can call up the property manager of each apt complex to find availability.
I am a tenant only.
expensive don't know how to find good ones
No need for a middle man
Convenience
Market (San Francisco) Not needed (easy to find rentals)
Difficult to find a reliable agent
I prefer doing research online and through web forums
Difficult to find an agent relative to an area
Didn't feel a need - successful without them
Cannot Trust Too expensive Pushy
Thought i could do it just as easy on my own.
Feel that real estate agents are more concerned with owners
blah blah
time
Craigslist is easier

I no longer rent but when I did rent a couple of years ago, I had to mail a check or drop it off at the property management co office. A real pain in the ass - in the last 5 years I lived in 2 different rentals (one year each) and the 2 different prop Mgmt companies had no proper website where I could set up automatic monthly billing for my rent.

for "how much willing to pay" questions, i would have answered 0 for collecting rent payments -- unwilling to use another service at cost of percentage of rent. would consider one-time set up fee but currently receive EFTs at no cost except time to set up.
