    PATTERN-MAKING IMondays, October 13December 8, 68 pmNicoleta Marinova

    Once you learn pattern-making you can fully express your creative ideas.

    Using a combination of flat pattern and draping techniques this coursewill teach you how make patterns based on your individual designs! You

    will learn to make a basic pattern from body measurements, will learn the

    techniques to manipulate pattern shape and will create a number ofvariations in silhouette. At the conclusion of the course, the students will

    create an original design.

    DESIGNING CHILDRENS WEAR

    This course introduces you to the specific sizing, pattern making, andconstruction techniques of childrens wear design. Each student will

    design a collection, create patterns, and construct an original piece!

    FASHION DESIGNThe Fashion Design Certificate Program

    offers a foundation in Fashion Design andConstruction. Students will learn the skills

    and techniques needed to realize and

    communicate their unique visions. Theprogram is perfect for students seeking to

    create a fashion portfolio for applying to

    college level fashion programs. Studentswill learn the skills necessary to create their

    own individual designs, whether for sale or

    personal expression. The curriculum providesa strong foundation for anyone interested in

    working in any aspect of the fashion industry.

    This course is an introduction to the planning of interior spaces. Learn space

    planning, material selection, and the methods used to solve interior designproblems. Focus is placed on the principles and elements of design, whichinclude scale, proportion, balance, emphasis, rhythm, and harmony. Complete

    one interior design project, from beginning concept through finished visual

    and verbal presentation.

    BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR DESIGNERS

    Tuesdays, October 13December 8, 68 pmNeda Couzens

    This course will cover the various aspects of business practices for the

    interior design professional, including business formation and structure, legalterminology, business forms, billing, ordering, contracts, and liabilities. Topics

    will include ethics, trade relations, and client-contractor-designer relations

    as well as todays marketing tools for interior designers. Guest Speakersto include Professional Designers who own, operate, and manage a Design

    Practice.

    Thursdays, October 13December 8, 68 pmHolly PringleThis course focuses on the Art of Accessorizing. Homes should be visually

    pleasing and emotionally satisfying. In this course, you will explore ideas forcreative accessorizing by using designer sources, and by learning just howmuch art impacts the living environment.

    This course introduces basic principles of graphic design and typography,

    along with the foundation computer skills involved in design. Page layout,

    grids, and working with text and images will be covered. Students willcreate works both on and off the computer and will become comfortable

    with using the computer to create imagery.

    Learn how to build your own fantastic website! Having a website is a must

    for any business, for designers, freelancers, or job seekers. Whateveryour needs, this course will teach you the basics of creating, designing,

    and hosting your own website. Using WordPress, you will create a function

    website that utilizes plug ins for social media integration and searchengine optimization. Youll have plenty of one-on one instruction, and you

    will leave the course with a finished website!

    Julian CrooksIn this course you will learn the skills to create actual garments. Youllexplore the basic principles of design and will learn about selecting and

    preparing patterns and fabrics. Basic sewing skills will be covered, such

    as seam finishes and closures. By the end of the course, you will havecreated and sewn your very own finished garment!

    LIFE DRAWING + PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENTSaturdays, October 425, 9 am12 pmInstructor TBAThis course will get you ready for the art school admission process! The

    course will consist of weekly assignments and critiques. The assignments

    will range from observational and figure drawing to mixed media andcontent driven work. In our critiques and discussions, youll develop the

    ability to talk about your own work and be ready for the college interview

    process. Youll also learn how to edit and organize your work to compileyour strongest portfolio possible.
