September 7, 2016 Dear Kilauea Resident, Aloha! I am writing to inform you that after several years of planning, Hunt Development Group will soon be starting construction on Kilauea Lighthouse Village, a 47,000-square-foot, grocery-anchored neighborhood center situated on a 6-acre parcel in front of the Kilauea Post Office along the road to the Kilauea Lighthouse. Schedule Our contractors, Shioi Construction and Kaiwa Construction, will begin work on the site on the week of September 19. Construction is scheduled to be complete in approximately 14 months, and Kilauea Lighthouse Village will open for business shortly thereafter. Traffic Flow To minimize additional traffic on Kilauea Road, vehicles traveling to and from the construction site will use a temporary construction road that runs behind the post office directly to Kuhio Highway. We will also have individuals assisting with traffic control on Post Office Road throughout the day as necessary. About Kilauea Lighthouse Village The center will be anchored by The Market at Kilauea, a 10,000 square foot neighborhood grocery store that will provide a wide selection of fresh, island grown, specialty, gourmet and traditional favorites in a warm, inviting community gathering place. The Market at Kilauea is owned by the Sullivan Family of Companies, a local family owned enterprise that also operates Foodland and Food Pantry stores. Kilauea Lighthouse Village’s buildings will have an old Hawai`i plantation town ambiance styled to complement the surrounding historic structures. Space for lease is now available and focused on local and statewide businesses to include a restaurants, services, small shops, and offices.
