Final Major Project Task 1 Briefs Briefs are an important aspect of everyday life. They give information about specific things in order to explain it more to the public. Jobs are one of the common things that have briefs. In a job application it will contain a brief in which the employers will explain in more detail what the job is about and what the employee would be expected to do. It is important to have a brief when you are creating something yourself such as a product. This is so you can provide the customers with information regarding the product which will then convince the customers more into buying it. Negotiated Briefs Negotiated Briefs are really important especially when creating a video. Negotiated Briefs require talking to the client and taking in consideration what they want for their video. This could be small details such as the colours they wish to use in their video which is then discussed in a group and where people will share their opinions and views on what they would improve and keep the same when creating the video. This helps both the client and other people negotiating any differences they have and working together to create a good video. Briefs

Briefs are an important aspect of everyday life. They give information about specific things in order to explain it more to the public. Jobs are one of the common things that have briefs. In a job application it will contain a brief in which the employers will explain in more detail what the job is about and what the employee would be expected to do. It is important to have a brief when you are creating something yourself such as a product. Negotiated Briefs

Negotiated Briefs are really important especially when creating a video.

“In August 2012 a California jury ruled that Samsung would have to pay Apple more than $ 1billion in damages for patent violations of Apples products particularly it’s Iphones. The judge eventually reduced the pay out to $600 million. In November 2013, another jury ruled that Samsung would have to pay Apple $290 million of the amount overruled by the judge in the 2012 case.”

Competition Briefs

Competition Briefs are used to give information to the audience about the competition that the company is running. In the Brief information about the company itself will be included to give the audience a better idea about the company. Then information about the competition itself will be included as well as times and dates of when the competition closes so the people know what the rules of the competition are. Ages are usually added to the competitions as well as some of the competitions only people over the age of 18 can enter this is usually for competitions involving money. Some of the competitions I found were found in a Sainsbury’s magazine in which a variety of competitions are advertised and when you click on each competition a brief will appear on each one you click . “A brief which is created in order to be accessible to all the production companies which are participating in creating a project/product. All of the finished projects that are created by these companies are judged and the most impressive one is crowned winner, and is taken into publication by the client.”

Co-Operative Briefs

A co-operative brief is a brief that is created with the help of someone else, a group of people all work together and discuss what each person thinks that the brief should have in It and exchange other ideas about the brief.

“ This is where two or several production companies are employed to operate upon a set brief , which they complete in unison on a team basis.”

Formal Brief

Formal Briefs are very strict when it comes to the client. The clients must stick to everything that is in the brief and not make any changes and the client has to follow all the instructions that are in the

brief. It is a good thing to have a formal brief because this is a way which the client will mostly stick to a brief.

“ A formal brief is a document that includes detailed information about what the client wants the company to achieve”

Contractual

A contractual brief is a brief in which you are told what you have to do. It is set up by the client and you have to stick to stick to the things that are in the brief. Contractual Briefs involve work between the client and you , you have to follow what the client wants you to do and they are used for different things around the world but mostly they are used for jobs.

“ It outlines the duties that will be required by the company and how the company organises their work. It is a document which states the expectations of the client, the prices they agree on , as well as the payment terms.”

Informal

Informal briefs are the complete opposite to formal briefs, informal briefs are set out more as an open conversation between you and the client whereas the formal briefs are more professional and strict to follow. Because of informal briefs being like open conversation that means that there is more room for negotiation between you and the client which means you can both make changes if you wish too.

“ There is a discussion conducted between the client and the employer , where they will come to a general agreement over the details of the contract”

Commission

A commission brief is the process of being commissioned. Within the commission briefs they tell the organisation what they have to do. Companies such as BBC offer commission briefs for their projects such as short films and TV programs by sending them details about your project such as the budget, and deadlines.

“ It is Notable that this type of brief is negotiated between two media companies, as opposed to an external client , who may receive the product once it has been established”

Tender

A tender brief is a brief in which you would get if you were going to be a part of a new job or organisation. Tender Briefs are used in business where you and other members of a team will talk

about your ideas about the job or organisation and then they will decide if they are going to work you or not.

“ A potential employer , such as a production company initiates a brief , a budget, as well as a proposal , which is then pitched to the client in order to secure their chance of obtaining the work that was previously advertised by the employer.”
