    Introduction

A higher institution must design its basic goals and objectives to satisfy customers

(students) by offering market driven academic and career driven programs; by providing quality

teaching and learning environment; and by providing adequate student support service (Ibekwe,

2006).however the resources allocated to educational sector in India is inadequate to fulfill these

(Tilak, 1996; Sheriff and Ghosh, 2000; Choudhury and Maharajn, 2004; Patel 2004; and Yadav

2004). In such scenario, goal attainment becomes tough. At that time the role of efficient

management becomes vital to attain objectives.

Management is also important in achieving primary any of any educational institute, i.e., and

customer (student) satisfaction which includes fulfillment of needs of students. Management

improves the needs of effectiveness of delivering the needs, wants and expectations of students

which helps in achieving the student satisfaction. Therefore the role of management is very

curial. But, many people playing roles in the managements of institutions, lack the knowledge of

basic management skills reacquired for effective management. According to Magoha (2004), the

poor management of educational institutions in developing countries is manifested in several

    forms, namely;

Communication between different heads of institutions, lecturers and other stakeholders

is wanting, with the emphasis being on orders rather than consultation.

Resources are poorly managed and misused, denying good service to students and staff.

Most heads of universities are never involved in the quality assurance process, either

they are not well equipped for that or they do not know their part of their responsibility.

The management of educational institutions of a country must be free from such ill-wills to

become effective. Gazie (1996) suggested that the management of educational institutions could

become more efficient if the perception of the parties involved, like the students, is considered.

Previous general management literature suggests that the views of subordinates can be used as a

development tool for the evaluations of managers and leaders (Pashiardis et a., 2005).

    REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

Mason (1995) found that those teachers characteristics that one would expect to appeal tostudents, generated positive influence on the aggregate questions. Courses that generated lower

grades created lower overall evaluation for the professors involved.

Kealy and Rockel (1987). The research obtained four factors of perceived college quality,

academic quality, social atmosphere, location of campus and athletic quality. Students

perceptions of college qualities are influenced by information sources like significant persons,

    written material and recruitment activities.

Johnstone and Agustiar (1983). They found the following indicators for evaluating an

educational institution: (1) size of the institution. (2) Output quantity consideration. (3)

Academic performance. (4) Quality of teaching staff. (5) Students characteristics.

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    RESEARCH STATEMENT:

Views of students towards college management.

    RESEARCH DESIGN:

A Research design is a master plan or model for the conduct of formal investigation. A

Research design is the specification of the methods and procedure for acquiring information

needed for solving problem. The formal investigation plan will concentrate on the selection ofsources of information and selection of model and procedure for gathering data.

For this research Descriptive has been used. To get the answers of what, when, how, how

many, the study is to be carried out which is descriptive in nature. Here, we have to find out the

students perceptions towards college management. This Research is related to descriptive type

because the students perception about college can be judge through this type of research.

    SAMPLE DESIGN:

Sampling design requires taking decisions related to target population, sampling frame,

sample size and sampling method. These are described below:

Target Population with Sampling frame & Size

Target population is a group about which conclusion is to be made. Sample size is

number of elements to be studied out of sampling frame. In our research sample size is 300.

    DATA COLLECTION TOOLS:

Once the research design and sample design has been decided the next stage is that of

selecting source of a data. Essentially, there are two type of source of data i.e. primary data and

secondary data. For our research the best-suited method is primary data collection.

    Primary data collection:

The primary data are those data that are collected for the first time, and thus happen to be

original in character. The data were collected from the students of Naran Lala college of

management, Navsari and ROFEL college, Vapi.

To know students perceptions, it requires meeting them and asking questions. And so, the best

suitable instrument for data collection is questionnaire. The main source of data for this research

    is questionnaire.

    Secondary data collection:

The secondary data collected from the various Internet websites.

    STATISTICAL TOOL:

For the data interpretation purpose factor analysis was used.

    Factor analysis

Different respondents rate different parameters differently for their

agreeness/disagreeness level. So here factor analysis is done to reduce the factors so that only

those factors which are very important and need to focus more are considered first.

    BENEFITS OF STUDY:

The study carried out under the title of Views of students towards college management

    will give benefits as under:

The study will be helpful in knowing what are the factors that influence theperceptions of the students towards college management.

College will be able to know the facilities required by the students.

    LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY:

As no human being is perfect, it is not possible for anyone to make the best or perfect

report. Each person has some level of knowledge and is affected by some uncontrollable factors

within which he/she has to work. So, it might possible that there can be some limitations in this

report that may be due to knowledge level or some other factors.

    Respondents might have felt hesitation in providing information related to their expectation;

so, there can be some data that might questionable because of unwillingness of respondents to

    give right information.

Sample selected may not represent whole population, as sample size selected is very

small in proportion to population due to time and cost constraints.

Even many of the respondents may give bias answer.

The numbers of respondents are relatively small.

    DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION:

    FACTOR ANALYSIS:

To identify the underlining construct and investigate the relationship among the variables

which were supposed to determine or influence students perception on college management,

    factor analysis was applied.

what the variables together represents was found to be 60.801%.

    Scree plot:

From the above plot we can see that, there are mainly 6 points which are plotted above

eigen value 1. So six factors are extracted from the above plot.

    Component Matrix:

The table below shows the loadings of the fourteen variables on the three factors extracted. The

higher the value of the loading, the more the factor contributes to the variable. The gap on thetable represent loadings that are less than 0.5, this makes reading the table easier. We suppressed

    all loadings less than 0.5.
