Bangladesh Services Ltd (BSL) has signed a 30-year Management Agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), on 19th February 2012.

Background of renovationAs per management agreement between Bangladesh Services Ltd (BSL) and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Ruposhi Bangla Hotel has to be renovated to the brand standard of IHG.

On completion of the renovation works, the hotel will be rebranded as “InterContinental Dhaka”.

Current Status of the ProjectAppointment of the Project Management

Company (PMC) including all the consultants of different categories have been completed.

Concept and Design development has been completed.

Scope of work of the project has been finalized.

Detailed design has started and expected to be completed by 25 April 2014.

Construction of Mock Up Room will commence by 20 April 2014.

Current Status of the ProjectMock Up Guest Rooms will be completed

and signed off by IHG & BSL by 20 June 2014.

Tendering process for all works of the project will be completed by September 2014.

Appointment of Contractors for different packages will commence from August 2014.

Closure of the hotel will be on 31 August 2014.

Commencement of physical execution of the works will be in Sep’2014.

Completion of renovation and branding of the hotel as ‘InterContinental Dhaka’ will be by December 2015.

Renovation Cost and Funding

Renovation Cost: US Dollar 47.375 million

Funding: The renovation cost will be met out of BSL’s own source and Bank Loan. In the meantime, Government owned banks have expressed their desire to finance the renovation project.
