• POLITICIANS LOVE THIS LINE!• Your Representative owes you, not

his industry only, but his judge-ment;

• • and he betrays, instead of serving and he betrays, instead of serving you, if he sacrifi ces it (his judge-you, if he sacrifi ces it (his judge-ment) to your opinionment) to your opinion.

COMPARE TO STATESMAN Certainly, Gentlemen, it ought to be the happiness and glory of a Representative, to live in the strictest union, the closest correspondence, and the most unreserved commu-nication with his constituents. Th eir wishes ought to have great weight with him; their opinion high respect; their business unremitted atten-tion. It is his duty to sacrifi ce his repose, his pleasures, his satisfactions, to theirs; and, above all, ever, and in all cas-es, to prefer their interest to his own. Edmund Burke Nov 3, 1774

DID YOU KNOW

FOCUS ON• Your job is to select the best person to fi ll the offi ce

of Mayor of Mesa, AZ. • You will only know for yourself if you spend some

time to weigh the information that is at hand. • You want to make sure that your decision matches

your convictions about the type of character of the person you think should be in this offi ce.

• Your choice should understand the proper role of government.

• Man contending against Man. • Party against Party. • Idea against Idea. • Solution against Solution. • Become more involved in Mesa aff airs. • Don’t be satisfi ed to get all of your information sec-

ond hand. • Be ready to live with your decision because 4 years

is a long time, could amount to a lot of water under the bridge.

• None of us like negative messages or negative cam-paigning.

• How do we stop negative messaging? • We get rid of those who are responsible for creating

the negativity. • Don’t ever blame someone who shares with you the

truth, even though you are not ready to accept it. • Why does someone else have information that you

don’t? • Because they have taken time to observe. • Research the information yourself. • Come to your own conclusions. • Don’t ever wish that someone had told you more

and you didn’t take the time to listen or read.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. Load-ing up the nation with debt and leav-ing it for the following generations to pay is morally irresponsible.

“A primary object…should be the educa-tion of our youth in the science of govern-ment. In a republic, what…knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing…than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?”

Th ere are only two possible sources of rights. Either they are God-given as part of the Divine Plan, or they are granted by government as part of the political plan…If we accept the premise that human rights are granted by government, then we must be willing to accept the corollary that they can be denied by gov-ernment . I, for one, shall never accept that premise. Th e Role of Proper Government Ezra Taft Benson

SOME CUD TO CHEWSOME CUD TO CHEWI fully endorse I fully endorse

the 2nd Amendment. the 2nd Amendment. Does John Giles? No. John Giles sup-ports Red Flag laws that provide no due process. In September 2019 Mayor Giles had this to say about your 2nd Amend-ment rights. “I have spoken to friends, neighbors and strangers - including many conservatives - who he said support univer-sal background checks on gun purchases, ... Frankly, the lead-ers of our country need to catch up to where the public is on this issue.” Arizona Daily Star Sept 11, 2019 What PUBLIC is John Giles talking about? Liberal Phoenix or Tucson? Not Mesa.

What do you think about this series of statements? In the fall of 2018 I requested all communication between Mayor Giles and City Mgr Brady and the Developers that were interested in the Recker/Th omas Park land. I received a copy of the fi rst appraisal (25.5) and an email from Developer 2 and Mayor Giles. I was told by an assistant attorney of Mesa that NO NO TEXT MESSAGES COULD BE LOCATED.TEXT MESSAGES COULD BE LOCATED. Aft er reviewing my fi le of info I rediscovered an email copy sent to me. And low and behold this is what it reads. From the 2nd developer: “We have been communicat-“We have been communicat-ing for several months via text messages and in person...” Wow there is ing for several months via text messages and in person...” Wow there is was! TEXT MESSAGES! was! TEXT MESSAGES! So I requested again to receive a copy of the text messages between Mayor Giles and the developer. I received a response from a diff erent assistant attorney, the text messages you seek were sent on a private device and as such they are private. (I wonder how the Arizona Republic got the text messages between Mr. Brady and Police Chief Ba-tista). So in my meeting with Mayor Giles on December 4, 2019 I made a statement, “that is why I wanted the text messages”“that is why I wanted the text messages” Mayor Giles response was, “I no longer have them.” “I no longer have them.” (2 witnesses) So did the Mayor destroy or delete information that was public entitled, while conducting city busi-ness? What was in those text messages? Sure would like to fi nd out! Was evidence destroyed? We as citizens are entitled to know.We as citizens are entitled to know.

What happened to President H.W. Bush when he said, “Read my lips, NO NEW TAXES”. Th e Peo-ple voted him out of offi ce because he didn’t keep his word.

JOHN GILES HAS NEVER SEEN A TAX INCREASE THAT HE JOHN GILES HAS NEVER SEEN A TAX INCREASE THAT HE DOESN’T LIKE! NUMBER 1 ADVOCATE FOR CITY WIDE DOESN’T LIKE! NUMBER 1 ADVOCATE FOR CITY WIDE PROPERTY TAX ! 2006 PROPERTY TAX ! 2006 Mesa has a tradition of being a safe, fam-ily friendly city that off ers quality essential services. We all need to work together to keep it that way. In order to have fi nancial stabil-ity for future generations, Mesa must pass both Questions 1 and 2. Q1Transaction Privilege Tax TPT and Q2 Property tax. JOHN GILES IS CONCERNED ABOUT FUTURE GENERATIONS? HEAPING TAXES UPON THEM IS A STRANGE WAY OF BEING CONCERNED. Here are some facts to consider about Mesa’s current situation: Mesa is the largest city in Arizona without a property tax. WHAT DOES SIZE HAVE TO DO WITH WHAT TAXES TO COLLECT? Mesa’s per capita sales tax collections have dropped by more than 20% at the same time the city’s population has doubled. MORE TAXES IS CODE FOR BIGGER GOVERNMENT.With no new revenues, it’s anticipated Mesa will have to lay off 300 employees and cut more than $30 million from a wide range of city programs. Question 2 will help provide the stable revenue source needed to avoid these cuts. SAME OLD SCARE TACTICS. LAY PEOPLE OFF AND CUT SERVICES, UNLESS WE RAISE TAXES. We believe Mesa is a great place to live, work and raise a family. To continue that tradition, we must come to-gether as a community and support (BOTH TAX INCEAS-ES) both Question 1 and Question 2. Please join us in voting yes. John Giles, Debra Duval 14 YEARS LATER AND MESA IS DOING JUST FINE WITHOUT A PROPERTY TAX. Publicity Pamphlet 2006

Mesa District 2Mesa District 2 I have known Councilman Whittaker for 3+ years now and I want you to know that I am more and more impressed with him and his character everyday. This young man is deter-mined to make sure that every voice is heard. As a registered Independent for 20 years he has spent his time carefully analysing both sides of the political spectrum and while we do not agree on everything, I state emphatically that he is the most conservative member of the Mesa City Council. He has petitioned for equal distribution of discresionary money for and to District 2, but to no avail. I believe he is being punished and so is District 2 by the current administration, for his attention to detail in all matters before the city and thus the council. He has been a relent-less defender of the poor and the burden that higher water bills place on them His concerns have fallen on deaf ears. Mesa has the hightest water rates in the East Valley. He has spoken out every year for a balanced budget to no avail. He adamantly spoke out against the ASU building because he feels that the voice/vote of the people is being ignored and under valued. Mayor Giles Mayor Giles wants Jeremy off of the council so that his pierc-wants Jeremy off of the council so that his pierc-ing questions won’t any longer need attention.ing questions won’t any longer need attention. Don’t rock the Boat BabyDon’t rock the Boat Baby, Without Mr. Whittaker and Mr. Thompson, transparency of city business will be a concern for the public welfare.VOTE JEREMY WHITTAKERVOTE JEREMY WHITTAKERFor the record, I don’t know Mrs. Spillsbury. But I can tell you this much. I have called her 2 times and asked that she and her husband give me some time to explore why she wants to be in the race and what her goals would be for Mesa. Nei-ther of my calls have been returned. As quoted in the EVT 1-26-20 Mrs. Spillsbury, “I am totally “I am totally fine with spending money on the local level”. fine with spending money on the local level”. This is exactly the vote that Mayor Giles needs to continue his hidden agenda. Mrs. Spillsbury was specifically sought out for this position by Giles the puppet master.puppet master. Even Mrs. Spillsbury praised Mr. Whittaker for asking good questions in his role as a Councilman. Mrs. Spillsbury’s “focus on quality-of-life issues”. No chance to do that. Mayor Giles wants to spend, and tax more and increase the burdens of Mesa residents. Maybe with a different Mayor, Julie.

Mesa District 3, you actually have the easiest choice to make. What is the role of a Represen-tative? To represent the voters and protect them and their assets from being pilfered by govern-ment. Jeremy Whittaker has been a LION in this regard. He is a defender of RIGHTS and you could not do any better in a choice of a person to represent you. Why would you risk that with a Newbie? A local attorney who pays a lot of attention to the City of Mesa told me that Mr. Whittaker is the most caring and knowledgeable, when it comes to Mesa finances of any person on the Council. Remember Mr. Remember Mr. Whittaker did not vote for the Whittaker did not vote for the ASU debt, or utility rate increas-ASU debt, or utility rate increas-es or tax increases or bond debt es or tax increases or bond debt or unnecessary projects.or unnecessary projects. He has had the citizens as his first concern. MIS-USE OF OFFICE?MAYOR GILES TO BRAND NEW COUNCILMEMBER WHITTAKER: Tonight David Luna will make the mo-tion to remove Ryan VanWinkle from the Council. I would like for you to second the motion so that the decision won’t appear to have racial overtones. Th at is what happened.I visited with a former candidate for a council position because I had heard through the grapevine that a high ranking elected offi er in Mesa City government had telephoned him and very earnestly encouraged him to get out of the race. Th e gentleman responded, there was no phone call, Mayor Giles came and stood right there and told me that I was too white, too Mormon, and that he didn’t want the ethnic makeup of the council to be disturbed.A well known member of the commu-nity had decided to run for a council seat and collected his signatures and was ready to follow through with the process when Mayor Giles showed up aft er having visited with several board members where this person worked and told him that if he didn’t get out of the race that very possibly his non-profi t business could suff er serious consequences.

(How does Mayor Giles stack up?)

A Candidate was asked to drop out of the race because Mayor Giles felt that his presence made a risk for the candidate of his choice to be elected.A Candidates wife worked for a non profi t that did work with the city of Mesa and Mayor Giles sent word home to her husband through her employer that her husband needed to drop out of the race as it would be detrimental to the outcome desired.A local developer was told by May-or Giles that if he supported Mr. Farnsworth in any way shape or form that he could expect no help from the city planning and permit-ting departments
