CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Teenagers all over the world have much in common. They are all on the threshold
of adulthood, are busy with their friends, and are establishing the beliefs and values that
will guide in the future.
The mobile phone is one of the great inventions in 20th
century. We cannot
imagine our life without the mobile phone. Like this, it is obviously a truth that using cell
phone gives us enormous benefits in all aspects. Otherwise, this cause trouble in a
specific situation.Mobile phones have become part of our everyday lives it also plays a big role in
our daily living. We carry them wherever we go as if it is a part of us that we cant go
without. Without it, we sort of feel incomplete. Besides being a communication tool, cell
phones also serve as a fashion accessory, especially among the young and trendy. But
whats good about these gadgets accessories is that they can also be accentuated to
become trendier and hipper ( Fallarna, 2007).
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of the researcher is to study and to know the benefits and the burdens
of using cellular phones with in the senior students of MAC in relation to the affectation
in some aspects of their daily living.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study was conducted to determine the benefits and burden of using cellular
phone among senior students in Bachelor of Science in Nursing of MAC. The researchers

believed that the result of this study will be beneficial to the following groups of
individuals:
Students. This will identify the benefits and burden of using cellular phone among BSN
senior students. And this study show how it affect to the junior students especially to their
study.
Nursing Professors and Clinical Instructors. This study will be of great help to the
nursing professors as they identify the effects of using cellular phone among MAC senior
students.
Nursing Administrators. The result of this study will help them classify and recognize
learning needs of the students regarding using of cellular phones.
Nursing Research. This study will serve as a reference for the development of new and
emergent research in the field of nursing. Specifically, new studies can be building up
regarding the benefits and burden of using cellular phone.
Future Researchers. They can use this study to provide inspiration, insights and
reference for future investigations. It can also be used as a guide and basis for developing
a further research regarding the burden and benefits of using cellular phone.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The main purpose of this study is to determine the benefits and burdens as well of
every BSN IV of MAC in using mobile phone.
Specifically the study seeks to answer the question below:
1 .What is the demographic profile of nursing students according to:
a. Gender
b. Relationship status
c. Presence of Cell phone

2. What is the affectation of cell phone use in terms of finances, spiritual life,
sleep pattern, studies, social life, time management, and health.
3. What are the burdens and benefits of cell phone usage in terms of demographic
profile and affectation?
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
There is a significant difference in cell phone usage of the respondents in terms
of gender, relationship status and presence of cellphone and in terms of finances,
spiritual life, sleep pattern, studies, social life, time management, and health.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
According to Ajzen and Zimmerman (2005) Human behavior is guided by three
kinds of consideration, "behavioral beliefs," "normative beliefs," and "control beliefs." In
their respective aggregates, "behavioral beliefs" produce a favorable or unfavorable
"attitude toward the behavior"; "normative beliefs" result in "subjective norm"; and
"control beliefs" gives rise to "perceived behavioral control."
In combination, "attitude toward the behavior," "subjective norm," and "perceived
behavioral control" lead to the formation of a "behavioral intention" (Ajzen, 2002b). In
particular, "perceived behavioral control" is presumed to not only affect actual behavior
directly, but also affect it indirectly through behavioral intention (Zimmerman et al.,
2005).
As a general rule, the more favorable the attitude toward behavior and subjective
norm, and the greater the perceived behavioral control, the stronger the person's intention
to perform the behavior in question should be. Finally, given a sufficient degree of actual
control over the behavior, people are expected to carry out their intentions when the
opportunity arises (Ajzen, 2002b).

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
One hundred nineteen (119) 4th year students in the CON was the respondents of
the study. Out of 119 only 60 respondents will be used.
The study is limited 4th year nursing students who answered the questionnaires that
will be retrieved by the researcher and only to those respondents enrolled this summer of
the school year 2011. Maybe some of them were sick or with classes and on duty, thus the
limitation of the study.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter includes the review of related literature and studies both foreign and
local which are relevant to the study being done. It is also through these literatures and
past studies t hat the researchers got the insight and inspiration to pursue this research.
Before embarking on the conduction of this study, inquiries were made to see if there
were any other studies that contain any similarities to the present study.
GLOBAL LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Cell phone is a gadget that is electronically produced in the modern industrial
economy nowadays. It is a gadget that is made as a modern technology, it is a stepping -
stone in communication. It is defined as a drug because it stimulates the central nervous
system (CNS), causing increased alertness and gives most people a temporary energy
boost and elevates mood. Although not really a street drug, it is the most widely used
drug anywhere. It can be ingested large enough quantities to alter metabolism. (Brain &
Bryant, 2008)
Cell phones now become the major part of society. It becomes the necessity of
society in the whole world. It has the ability to keep in touch with your family and other
friends in any part of the world. It is the major source of today life cycle. It is the best
communication tool for modern society. There are many companies that provide latest
technologies and entertainment modules in their mobile sets. We can use it for many
purposes. It is also called in modern society cell phone. It is the most successful
invention of 21st century.
Having a relationship is not always the reason why communication is so
important, there could also be reasons such as the respondents do not want the stressed
that a relationship can bring.

In focusing on the benefits of interpersonal relationships for persons
facing stressful circumstances, researchers have often overlooked the potentially
troublesome aspects of relating to others and the uncertain effects of attempting to obtain
support (Coyne & Delongis 2000).
It provides the great opportunity to talk any time to any person throughout the
world. It is the best tool of communication in the world. A cell phone allows an
individual to find any friend in any part of the world. An individual can also take pictures
from the cell phone. It can be storage of data and files through a memory card. Internet
surfing is also available on cell phones but from all of this goodness about using this
gadget it has effects also, especially the effects to our health and everyday living. (Shawn
C Hoch,2009)
A mobile phone a convenient way of communicating has advantages to every
being especially the latest models. You can carry it anywhere, if you are lost you can call
for directions, if you are in an accident, you can call the police, you can listen to music,
text, play whenever you are bored and also it has calculator and a phonebook for the
immediate use of data a cell phone is a miracle but it has disadvantages also. A cell phone
can be expensive, it can damage your ear, sometimes the reception or signal in some
areas are poor like you cannot use it while on plane and underground, people use
Bluetooth and camera in bad ways, and people use the phone while they are driving and
can lead to death. (Monapk, 2008)
Generation gap is common amongst most of the parents and children in the
family. This often results in poor or lack of communication between parent and child.
Children often feel that their parents do not understand them . thus creating a trust more
to their peers and less to their family. Even through text, mostly teens spend their time
with unlimited texting to their friends and through texting with parents it just lasts for a
matter of seconds (Martin 2007).
Mobile phones are one of the most positively viewed inventions in the
technological era. Considering that fact a serious disadvantages is present. I believe that
possessing a mobile phone hides numerous disadvantages with social problems, health
and economic issues being the leading ones on a lengthy list.
8/4/2019 Final Thesis Mam Osorio
8/32
The most widely spread disadvantage though the most unseen, is the addictive
relation developed between mobile phone and its user. Psychiatrists and sociologists
believe that mobile phone addiction is becoming one of the biggest non-drug addiction in
the 20 century. Along with the age drop of the mobile phone users and the ease of prepaid
method provide by the system operators, most teenagers now own their own mobile
phone and network service. Teenagers are engaged on their mobile phones all the time
and therefore affecting their daily living and social relations.
There are differences in levels of religious beliefs across different disciplines that
affect the behavior of students (Christopher, 2011).
Another type of problem is the affectation to their social behavior resulted from
the emergence of phone is losing good habits, such as punctuality. When we couldnt
keep in touch so easily, if we had a date with someone, we tried our best to arrive on
time. But now, because of the mobile phone, we are not afraid of being late, it seems that
an individual is on time if the individual gave him a call. Repeating it makes us
developed an irresponsible behavior.
The increased risk that cell phone pose to driving is clear-cut and widely
acknowledged and commonly called a fatal distraction. It seems harsh but
unfortunately it is the plain truth. This increased risk is due to the inability of the human
brain to fully focus on driving while, shortly after, talking on a cell phone leading into an
accident. Matter of fact cell phone is dangerous that in many countries it has been legally
penalized. (Sokin, 2008)
According to Frank Heasley PhD, president and CEO of MedZilla, (June 6, 2002)
in nursing where men are but a small fraction - 5.7% according to the latest statistics of

LOCAL LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Mobile phones have become part of our everyday lives. We carry them wherever
we go. Without them, we sort of feel incomplete. Besides being a communication tool,
cell phones also serve as a fashion accessory, especially among the young and the trendy.
But whats good about these gadget accessories is that they can also be accentuated to
become trendier and hipper (Fallarna, 2007).
Teenagers love to have cell phones either for communication or for fashion. I
consider my day incomplete if I cant touch my cell phone. Through my cell phone, I can
make new friends, especially girlfriends. I can ask for other peoples numbers and be able
to contact them. Some say cell phones are just an added expense. I say they are a great
help (Menguito, 2002) especially when contacting parents or fellow classmates.
One could have not imagined, for instance, how mobile phones have become
fashion statements for some young people, or even the mature crowd. Devices will also
act as a communication tool, personal digital assistant, and most of all, a mobile
computer. And they all work without the usual wires (Gonzales, 2003).
I think teenagers are crazy about cell phones because cell phones are the fad. Thus
they couldnt resist owning this hi-tech gizmo, either due to necessity or to be accepted in
their own social circles (Tanayan, 2002).
The key problems teachers have with unsanctioned cell phone use in schools
include: 1. Sending friends text messages during class time. 2. Sending or receiving test
answers. 3. Bullying or harassment via unwanted text messaging. 4. Taking and
distributing inappropriate digital photos of students. But there are also good reasons in
having a cell phone at school like using it as a calculator, digital cameras, internet access,
and dictionaries. Effective schools for nurses have a bilingual meaning, it can speak for
education and it can also promote health not only to patients but also to the personal body
as they usually practice different kinds of skills and various techniques in order to
provide for a healthy community (Lundy, 2009).
says that chronic procrastination is the serious condition that needs to be blamed
off. It is on what people act and think not to the things around us says professor Ferrari of
DePaul University in Chicago (Ferrari, 2008).

One student in five suffers from problems with their careers, relationship and
health because of poor time managing. Many researchers are blaming mobile phones and
computers for providing too many distractions for people (Michael Day, 2008).
We live in a modern, high-tech world. Maybe this is the reason why teenagers
need cell phones. This gadget is a great help in cases of emergency. They facilitate
communication. On the other hand, when cell phone owners do not know how to
discipline themselves, they simply waste time texting or playing games instead of being
productive. With snatchers roaming Metro Manila, sporting cell phones also endanger
owners lives (Villegas, 2002).
Most teens have become addicted to cell phones, and that includes me. I love to
text, play games, change settings, or listen to ringing tones. A cell phone is also a fast and
cheap way to keep you connected to friends (Dapilan, 2002).
SYNTHESIS
On the literatures cited globally, it talks about the benefits and burdens of using
mobile phones. Cell phone usage greatly affects every aspect of our daily living. it plays
a big role in communicating with others because it serves as a tool for fast and easy
access to communicate with others. There are many benefits of having a cell phone, it
serves as our main communication tool, for entertainment, for easy access on the internet,
for storage of data and a hands on tool.
With local literature, it talks about more on the benefits of having a cell phone.
Teenagers are mostly the users of a mobile phone. They consider it as a trend in fashion,
the newer the better. It has been a big factor to expenses but people consider cell phones
as a priority, because the things it contributes to our daily living.
If there is the good side there will always be the bad side and that is the burdens
of having a cellular phone. On Dapilans (2002) article it states, most teens have become
addicted to cell phones. Many engage on buying the latest model for the hipper trend.
Cell phone has negative effects especially pertaining to our health.

All of these are the benefits and burdens of our industrialized economy. In this
articles we can see that most have prioritized fashion rather than focusing on their basic
needs. In general, cell phones have a big contribution to every aspect of daily living.
Good or bad still the cell phone is an apple of the eye for every individual especially
teenagers.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter deals with the method of research used, respondents to the study,
research tools and instruments, procedure followed and the statistical treatment of data.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design used in this study is non-experimental descriptive design.
POPULATION AND SAMPLE
The total population of BSN IV respondents was one-hundred and twenty (119)
and only sixty (60) were the sample population.
INSTRUMENTATION
The researchers made use of a self constructed survey questionnaire based on the
statement of the problem of this study. The questionnaire consists of 2 parts. The first
part aims to elicit information on the profile of the respondents in terms of gender, and
religion. Part two intends to determine the affectation of the mobile of the respondents.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
A letter of request was sent to the Dean of the CON of MAC seeking permission
to conduct the study. Upon approval of the request, subjects were immediately
determined using the convenient sampling technique.
The researchers went to the classroom and requested the BSN IV students or
respondents permission to conduct and distribute the questionnaire. There were about 70
questionnaires given to conveniently selected respondents. The researchers waited the
same day until the respondents were done answering the questionnaires given. Only 60
questionnaires were retrieved. The questionnaires were then collected and encoded by the
statistician.
STATISTICAL TREATMENT
Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to arrive at the results. The
following statistical tool was employed, as follows:
Frequencies, Percentage Distribution and Proportion. These were computed to
present the demographic profiles of the respondents in terms of gender, educational
attainment, socio-economic status. The formula to compute such are as follows:
Percentage Distribution (% Dist.)
P = f x 100% Where: P = percentage
N F = frequency
N = total number or respondents
(Fundamental Statistics for College Students; Pagoso, Garcia and Guerrero de Leon,
1992)
T-test. The t-test assesses whether the means of two groups are statistically
different from each other. This analysis is appropriate whenever you want to compare the
means of two groups, and especially appropriate as the analysis for the post-test-only
two-group randomized experimental design.

Anova. The most common way to determine whether there are differences in the
means of a continuous DV across a set of three or more groups is to perform an analysis
of variance (ANOVA). There are many different types of ANOVAs. The specific type
you should use depends on two things. The first is whether or not your groups have the
same subjects in them. If the groups have different subjects in them, then you must
perform a between-subject ANOVA. If the same subjects are in all of your groups then
you must perform within-subjectsANOVA. You should try to make sure that your study
meets one of these two conditions if you want to perform a one-way ANOVA. It is
difficult to use ANOVA to analyze designs when you have the same subjects in multiple
groups but you dont have every subject in every group. For example, it would be
difficult to analyze a study where you had four different conditions but only measured
each subject in two of them.
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a collection of statistical models, and their
associated procedures, in which the observed variance is partitioned into components due
to different explanatory variables. In its simplest form ANOVA gives a statistical test of
whether the means of several groups are all equal, and therefore generalizes. ANOVAs
are helpful because they possess a certain advantage over a two-sample t-test. Doing
multiple two-sample t-tests would result in a largely increased chance of committing a
type I error. For this reason, ANOVAs are useful in comparing three or more means.
To apply the test, assume random sampling of a variate y with equal variances,
independent errors, and a normal distribution. Let n be the number of replicates (sets of
identical observations) within each ofKfactor levels (treatment groups), andy be the ith

restricting n to be the same for each factor level.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents the statistical analysis and interpretation of findings based
on the data gathered.
Problem 1: What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of gender,

Analysis:
Table 1A is the presentation of gender of the respondents. It shows that out of 100
respondents, 58% are female and 42% are male.
Interpretation:
The total number of respondents according to gender was picked in random order
and the outcome was that the female respondents were more in number at that specific
time than the male respondents.

Analysis:
Is the presentation of relationship status of the respondents. It shows that out of
100 respondents, 54% are single, 42% are in a relationship and 4% are married.
Interpretation:
This shows that among the respondents there are more single nursing students
than those who are in a relationship or married. Most students in college prefer to be

Analysis:
Table 1C is the presentation of presence of cell phone among the respondents. It
shows that out of 100 respondents, 93% have a cell phone and 7% have no cell phone.
Interpretation:
The table shows that most of the respondents own a cellular phone. The other
remaining percent do not have phones due to such reasons like being stolen or forbidden
by their parents during their time in school. A cellular phone is a necessity now a days, it
helps student to communicate faster and easier than letters especially during emergencies.

for spiritual life of the respondents is 3.0167 with an interpretation of fairly agree.
8/4/2019 Final Thesis Mam Osorio
21/32
Interpretation:
This indicates that the spiritual relationship the respondents have with God is
affected by the use of cellular phone. When going to church students are not focused to
the lesson given by the speaker instead they use their cell phone in order to stay in
constant communication with their friends instead of constant communication with God.
Supported by Meghan, (2010) given that cellular phones have become popular in youth
culture, behavior and manners are affected. Even in churches and parties teens love to
take pictures of themselves and use their mobile for texting leading to wrong etiquette
and can be a disgrace to our Lord during church periods.
According to Christoper, (2011) that there are differences in levels of religious
beliefs across different disciplines that affects the behavior of students. In the table, it
shows that most students read the Bible than texting reflecting that dominantly students
here are Seventh Day Adventist and were raised as Bible readers since they were at a
young age. It usually depends on the discipline implemented on students for having a
certain behavior by their religious belief says Christoper.

Table 2C is the descriptive statistics of the sleep pattern of the respondents. It
shows that they fairly agree that they get enough sleep at night, but usually sleep late
because of cell phone usage than reading books, and usually wake up when their cell
phones beep with a mean value between 2.60 3.39. The overall mean for sleep pattern
of the respondents is 2.8933 with an interpretation of fairly agree.
Interpretation:
This table indicates that the use of cell phone use at night is mildly agreeable. A
study was done in Belgium of more than 1,600 3-to-15-year-olds by scientists at
Katholiede University Leuven found that almost 60% of students used their cell phones
either to talk or text message after turning their lights out at bedtime. Another survey in
the United Kingdom of 17,000 students between the ages of 16 and 25 found that while
86% owned a cell phone, only 73% said they owned a book. The National Literacy
Trust( NLT) believes a persons access to books has a direct effect on their reading
ability, finding that 80% of people reading at their expect levels have their own books.
Conversely, the same can only be said for just 58% of children not reading up to par with
their age group. It also shows in the graph that the behavior of students regarding the
usage of phones can cause deep awareness of receiving communication from others.
Parents have noticed changes in behavior with their teenage offspring, including paranoia
as it relates to their cell phone obsession.

Interpretation:
In the table above it cites that most of the respondents fairly agree that they have
less time studying due to cell phone usage which could be from game playing or
communicating with fellow friends. According to Villegas, (2002) when cell phone users
do not know how to discipline themselves, they simply waste time texting or playing

difficulty concentrating in class and doing their assignments due to cell phone use. The

reason why some students do not concentrate in class can be due to distraction from
friends or problems in their daily lives. According to Lundy, (2009) the key problems
teachers have with unsanctioned cell phone use in schools include: 1. Sending friends text
messages during class time. 2. Sending or receiving test answers. 3. Bullying or
harassment via unwanted text messaging. 4. Taking and distributing inappropriate digital
photos of students. But there are also good reasons in having a cell phone at school like
using it as a calculator, digital cameras, internet access, and dictionaries. In MAC there
are rules such as not using the cell phone during class which can also effect the
respondents usage of their cell phones during the class time period.

with their friends with a mean value between 3.404.19. The overall mean for the social
life of the respondents is 3.8900 with an interpretation of agree.
Interpretation:
Most of the time many students find more comfort and compassion from their
peers or fellow classmates due to the things they go through together or through the
things they share. Because unlike parent and child relationships, children tend to be more
open with others that are either equal in or close to their own personalities or ages
because they have dont have the feeling of being judged.
According to Martin (2007) Generation gap is common amongst most of the
parents and children in the family. This often results in poor or lack of communication
between parent and child. Children often feel that their parents do not understand them .
thus creating a trust more to their peers and less to their family. Even through text, mostly
teens spend their time with unlimited texting to their friends and through texting with
parents it just lasts for a matter of seconds.
According to Nakulgupta (2005) Technology and internet playing plays its role in
the society. Students spend more time on their mobiles or internet to chat with their
friends because they feel a sense of loss if they are not currently updated inside their
social circles leading to less concern towards their own family ties. Social skills in friends
are mostly achieved but to family member it is lessened.

Analysis:
Table 2F is the descriptive statistics of the time management of the respondents. It
shows that they fairly agree they waste their time using their cell phones. It also shows
that they disagree they are using their cell phones rather than spending time with their

time with a mean value of 1.80 2.59. The overall mean of the time management of the
respondents is 2.5267 with an interpretation of disagree.
Interpretation:
The table above implies that the respondents waste their spare time by using their
cell phones but their time for family, studying and other things to be done is not affected
at all. For the most part the respondents had allotted their time for studying and for family
gatherings. Though students can get things done they usually do them at the last minute;
theyprocrastinate thats why time is wasted and all they do is text and surf the net with
their mobile phones.
According to Michael Day (2008) one student in five suffers from problems with
their careers, relationship and health because of poor time managing. Many researchers
are blaming mobile phones and computers for providing too many distractions for people.

to be blamed off. It is on what people act and think not to the things around us says

Table 2F is the descriptive statistics of the health of the respondents. It shows that
they disagree that they do not notice proper meal times due to excessive cellphone use,
experiencing numbness and cramping while using their cell phone, as well in
experiencing hearing difficulties with a mean value between 1.80 2.59. The overall
mean for the health of the respondents is 2.1733 with and interpretation of disagree.
Interpretation:
Students do not experience effects of using cellular phones to their health showing
in the table above that students knows how to prioritize things like health first. Reflecting
that students are nurses knowing that health is wealth. They wouldnt skip a meal or a

snack for texting and the table showed that students are not addicted on using cellular
phones for a distraction to their healthy lifestyle. The school is facilitating health services
and health promotion because students are nurses, this is why student knows self-health
awareness. The school teaches and influenced the students to live healthy. Implying that
health promotion in our school is effective.
Supported by Lundy (2009) Effective school for nurses have a bilingual meaning,
it can speak for education and it can also promote health not only to patients but also to
the personal body as they usually practice different kinds of skills and various techniques
in order to provide for a healthy community.

CHAPTER V
SUMMARY
Findings:
The results show that there are more females with a percentage of 58% than males
with a percentage of 42%. With relationship status of 54% for single respondents, 42%
for the respondents that are in a relationship, and 4% for those that are married. In the
presence of a cell phone there were 93% who own a cell phone while 7% do not.
We found that the respondents fairly agree to using their cell phones while inchurch as well as spending more time reading the Bible using their cellphone and they
send love quotes more than they send spiritual quotes with an overall mean value of
3.0167. It also shows that they fairy agree that they get enough sleep at night but usually
sleep late because of cell one use than reading books, and usually wake up when their cell
phones beep with a overall mean value of 2.8933. In terms of studies in the lives of the
respondents it the results showed that they fairly agree that they have less time studying
due to texting and disagree that they have difficulty in concentrating in their classes due
to constant cell phone use, as well in putting cell phone use first instead of doing their
assignments with an overall mean value of 2.5633 meaning they the majority of the
respondents disagree. In the social life of the respondents it shows that they agree that
they usually communicate with their families as well as their boyfriend or girlfriend. It
also shows that they strongly agree that they communicate with their friends with an
overall mean of 3.8900 meaning that most of the respondents agree. In the respondents
time managements the results showed that they fairly agree they waste their time using
their cell phones. It also showed that they disagree they are using their cell phones rather
than spending time with their family, as well in not getting the things that need to be done
due to their cell phone usage time with an overall mean of 2.5267. For the health of the
respondents the results showed that they disagree that they do not notice proper meal
times due to excessive meal times due to excessive cell phone use, experiencing

numbness and cramping while texting, as well in experiencing hearing difficulties with
an overall mean of 2.1733 meaning that most of the respondents disagree.
Conclusion
With these results the researchers have concluded the benefits and burdens of cell
phone use amongst 100 senior BSN students at MAC and have found that they have some
affectations in aspects of their daily living either financially, spiritually, to their sleep
pattern, Studies, Social life, time managing and also to their health. The affectation
depends on whom is the common user and have been found out that girls are dominant
user that is caused by more female students enrolled as seniors. Also the affectation is
different depending on the relationship status of the students, the single are the most user
because there are more students enrolled in fourth years that are not in a relationship. The
affectation either its a burden or a benefit to senior students depends to the presence of
having a Cell Phone, most of the students are users so more are affected.
Recommendations
Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the researchers would like to
recommend the following:
Students
Students are suggested to use this study to be aware of the good and the bad
effects in using a cell phone especially in the nursing profession. We researchers
recommend this study for them to be more responsible in their school work either with or
without the presence of a cell phone and for them to develop a sense of organization and
prioritization in their daily living.

31/32
The researchers would like to recommend to fellow students to further explore the
benefits and burdens of the use of a cell phone not only in senior students but in the
school as a whole as well. Expanding this research study may provide more concrete
findings that may increase the knowledge of future students in the community about cell
phone usage.
College of Nursing
The findings of this study may be relayed to the Dean of CON for the
consideration of nursing students of MAC for the development of sense and
responsibility when it comes to the use of their cell phones especially in the classrooms
and during exams. To also help the teachers promote a focused and more organized study
group wherein the students will be able to achieve higher goals regarding their education
as well in their daily living.
To the Future Researchers
The researchers would like to recommend this study to those future researchers, to
study deeper about the affectation of cell phone use among students regarding benefits
and burdens.
The study may also be extended to non-nursing students in order to generalize the
results to the college as a whole.
