Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) is a non-profit organization working collaboratively to conserve, protect and enhance Alberta’s wildlife, fisheries and habitat.

ACA Conservation, Community and Education Grants fund conservation activities by individuals (with appropriate insurance coverage), organizations, and communities that contribute to healthy fish and wildlife populations, to a healthy environment for fish and wildlife in Alberta, and to the understanding, appreciation and use of that environment. This grant program will also fund projects which increase the level of attendance and awareness of outdoor opportunities, while developing knowledge and respect for conservation.

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Alberta Foundation for the Arts Grant

A crown agency of the Government of Alberta, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) was established in 1991 with a mandate to support and contribute to the development of the arts in Alberta. The AFA currently reports to Alberta’s Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women.

The AFA receives funds annually from the Alberta Lottery Fund which it then distributes as grant funding to artists and art organizations to encourage the growth and development of the arts sector. More specifically, AFA grant funding supports creative activity in the performing, visual, literary, and film/video arts disciplines as well as a wide range of art initiatives including festivals/artists-in-residence programs, emerging artists’ exhibits, community events, performances, and education.

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Alberta Historical Resources Foundation Heritage Preservation Partnership Program

The primary purpose of the Alberta Historical Resources Foundation is to encourage initiatives that preserve and interpret Alberta’s rich heritage. Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Alberta Sport Connection Funding Programs

Alberta Sport Connection offers the Event Support Grant for small, medium and large events. This includes Minor International, North American, Canadian and Western Canadian Championships, Cups, and Events. These events are eligible for funding to a maximum of $10,000. For Major Sport Events, like large scale national championships, Olympic/Paralympic qualifiers, world cups, and world championships, the Alberta Sport Connection works with its Ministry partners in Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women to offer the Major Cultural and Sport Events funding program.

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Anti-Racism Community Grant Program

The Anti-Racism Community Grant (ARCG) program supports initiatives that raise awareness and understanding of racism and its impact on all Albertans. The program fosters cultural awareness and cross-cultural understanding in communities across the province.

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP)

Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) funding provides financial assistance to acquire, build, purchase, repair, renovate, upgrade or expand sports, recreational, cultural or other related public-use community facilities.

CFEP outcomes are to:

enhance the lifespan and support the creation of public-use community facilities, and

stimulate economic activity across the province.

CFEP has 2 funding streams:

Small Funding Stream (Up to $125,000). Organizations may be considered for up to $10,000 non-matching funding.

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Community Initiatives Program (CIP), Major Cultural and Sport Events (MCSE)

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP), Major Cultural and Sport Events (MCSE) funding stream is intended to streamline processes and maximize limited funding for organizations applying through multiple sources within Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women. These sources include Alberta Sport Connection, Tourism, and Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

You must contact program staff prior to submitting an application to MCSE.

Major Cultural and Sport Events grant stream will consider the following type of events:

Sport o National or international amateur sport events sanctioned by

national sport organizations or international federations. o Non-sanctioned events can apply for grant support through

the Community Initiatives Program Project-Based funding stream.

o This includes national and world championships and world cup events.

o Examples include: World Cup Downhill Men’s Skiing, Scottie’s Tournament of Hearts Curling

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program (ECAP)

The Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program (ECAP) helps to advance and strengthen the non-profit/voluntary sector by providing multi-year operational funding for up to 3 years to Alberta-based non-profit organizations that have a primary mandate and proven ability to:

build the capacity of other non-profit organizations in Alberta,

strengthen and advance the capacity of Alberta’s non-profit/voluntary sector as a whole,

build capacity for effective volunteerism in the broader community.

ECAP defines capacity building as the process of developing the knowledge, skill and ability to make and implement decisions in a manner that achieves effective and efficient results at the individual, organizational and sector level.

Funding through ECAP focuses on strengthening the non-profit/voluntary sector in areas such as:

Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Status of Women Community Grant Program

The Status of Women Community Grant Program provides one-time funding to charitable and not-for-profit organizations for projects and activities aimed at advancing gender equality and improving the lives of women and girls in Alberta. The funding is focused on initiatives in the following key priority areas of the ministry:

increasing women’s economic security,

increasing women in leadership and democratic participation,

preventing and responding to gender-based violence.

The Program is designed to provide funding to organizations who seek to expand their geographic or sector reach, introduce successful initiatives in other areas throughout Alberta, or organize events, conferences and training. Applicants are strongly encouraged to collaborate with external partners and to demonstrate, where applicable, that matching funds have been applied for or obtained.

Alberta Ecotrust Foundation Environmental Grant Program

Alberta Ecotrust’s supports the people and projects that effectively address Alberta’s most pressing environmental issues. The goal of the Aboriginal Economic Partnerships Program (AEPP) is to provide funding to Indigenous communities, community-owned businesses and organizations to foster economic development for Indigenous Albertans.

Alberta Indigenous Relations Ministry Urban Indigenous Initiatives Program

The Urban Indigenous Initiatives Program (UIP) supports projects that remove barriers and strengthen socio-economic opportunities for Alberta’s urban Indigenous people. The UIP complements other funding programs and is not intended to replace/duplicate other sources of funding that may be available. If applicable, Indigenous Relations will inform applicants if the project is better suited under other government programs or funding agencies.

The amount of funding awarded is based on project details so there is no minimum or maximum grant amount.

ALIGN Association of Community Services Bursary for Organizational Leadership

ALIGN is a membership-based hub of over 120 child and family service agencies throughout Alberta.

The purpose of the Leadership Bursaries is to foster future leadership capacity by enabling senior organizational leaders to participate in formal education and professional development programs that enhance their ability to lead their organization and the field. ATB Financial Donations and Sponsorships

ATB Financial sponsorships are strategic partnerships negotiated with an organization or event to make Alberta better. They sponsor events, festivals, and innovation in three focus areas: arts and culture, community and social development, and sports and wellness.

The Facility Rental Financial Assistance grant aims to provide a small source of funds to assist in situations where the costs of the City's facilities are a financial burden to a group or organization. The grant is not intended for continued support.

Government of Canada, Public Safety Canada Crime Prevention Funding Programs

Lethbridge Community Foundation Grants

Lethbridge Community Foundation provides funds to support charitable organizations in Southern Alberta.

In general, grants are restricted to organizations and projects which benefit the residents of Lethbridge and other Southwestern Alberta communities.

Grants are approved for

needs not normally met by other funding sources, and

one-time capital costs such as equipment purchase, facility construction and renovation projects or one-time operating costs such as a pilot project, awareness program, or the phase of a program which will be funded in the future from other sources.

It is intended that grants benefit the greatest community need (i.e. most benefit to most people affected by the project).

Muttart Foundation Training and Bursary Grants

The Muttart Foundation offers two bursary programs as part of its work to enhance the ability of charities to better serve Canadians. They view the building of organizational capacity through staff development as crucial to improving the effectiveness of charities, allowing them to provide enhanced supports and services to those they serve.

Through its two bursary programs, the Muttart Foundation awards grants to pay for tuition or registration fees for short-term courses, workshops, conferences or other formal training opportunities. The proposed training must include a knowledge or skill component that has the potential to increase the capacity of the individual staff member or key volunteer to contribute to meeting the organization’s mission.
