    1959, Supersonic airline research begins in Europe.

    2nd March 1967, The first prototype, Concorde 001, rolled out from Toulouse, France.

    9th April 1967, The first flight of Concorde 002 from Bristol, UK to its test centre at

    Fairford

    1st October 1967, 1st super sonic flight.

    1973, First flight to the US.

    1976, First commercial supersonic flight from London to Bahrain.

    1977, First London-New York commercial flight.

    1986, First Round the world trip.

    2003, Last commercial flight from New York to London.

    Operational Issues:

    Visible problems and failure of upper rudder. First failure occurred in

    April 1989 when BAS G-BOAF(216) lost part of its rudder while flying

    between Auckland and Sydney

    Made untidy operating profit for the airlines.

    No hopes for airline being able to fund this

    investment of premium first class market demand.

    Airline decided to write of the investment of aircraftof around 100 M rather than risk having to write off

    sums that could top 200M in upcoming years
