Message “Satisfied...Not!” Pastor Charlie
PREPARING FOR WORSHIP…
“I can't get no, oh no no no Hey hey hey, that's what I say I can't get no satisfaction I can't get no satisfaction 'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try I can't get no, I can't get no … satisfaction!” The lyrics printed above are from the song,"(I Can't Get No) Satis-faction," by The Rolling Stones, and was released in 1965. As I pre-pared to write these few lines of introduction for today’s message, I was listening to the song on my computer. These words of discontent came from the era of the 1960’s and yet they seemed to ring just as true for the 2010s. While 50 years separate us from the release of that iconic song, the feeling of discontent and the inability to find true satis-faction are just as real today as they were then. In fact, this feeling and attitude was not new in the 1960’s. It is something that goes back a long, long ways, at least to the time of Moses and the Israelites when they had left the bondage of Egypt and the difficulties of life there. Not long after they embarked on their journey of freedom to the “Promised Land,” they began to complain and became discontent with everything, including God. My prayer is that today’s message might remind us to join with Paul and be able to say “for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.” (Philippians 4:11b)
