THE RAPTURE

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18(13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.(14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.(18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

CHURCH AGE

- Symbolizes the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ. As Christ ascends to His Father in Heaven, He sends the Comforter, God’s Holy Spirit down to be with us.

The Church Age – This began in my opinion, when the Holy Spirit came and indwelled the believers as their Seal unto the day of redemption. We are currently in the Church Age. - The very next event which will take place at any time in the future is what we have called “The Rapture”Vs. 13-14. He has given us knowledge and hope concerning life after death. This body is merely a vessel (1 Thess. 4:4) and the saints, already believing in the resurrection of Christ should have no problem believing in the resurrection of the saints (vs14).Vs. 15. Not only the dead in Christ shall rise but the saints that are currently alive at His coming will be caught away with Him after the dead.Vs. 16-17 This is the chronological order of events as they occur in the rapture. Once the dead in Christ is risen, then we will be caught up together with them in the clouds. I take it to mean these are literal clouds and not interpreted “clouds of witnesses” as some suppose. Either way the emphasis shall be on the coming of Christ in the Air. He does not touch down on the earth at this time. This is not the

second coming. It ends in vs.17 with a promise “so shall we ever be with the Lord”.Vs 18. We are going to get discouraged waiting. Comfort each other with these words.
