Last Sunday, the title of the message was “He Did This for You,” referring to the fact that God had shown His great love for us by doing something about our problem with sin which we could not do for ourselves. He sent His Son and allowed Him to die on the cross to offer us a way to salvation and a right relationship with Him. In fact, in Romans 5:8 (NIV) we read, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God did this for us! Jesus did this for us! It is difficult to comprehend that kind of love and sacrifice made for you and for me, but it should cause each one of us to ask ourselves, “What can I do in return to show God how much I ap- preciate His love and sacrifice?” Unfortunately, each of us too often take God’s gift of Jesus’ sacrifice for granted. We don’t take the time to seek ways to let God know that we really are thankful for what He did for us. However, in today’s message entitled “You Can Do This for Him” (building on last week’s message), we will be challenged to consider what we can do for God on a regular basis to show Him how grateful we really are. We will be reminded that we show our gratitude to God by the way in which we treat others. Because “He did this for you, you can do this for Him!” So, to bor- row the old Nike slogan, “just do it!”
