provider, about your new point-of-sale terminal. I’d like to setup a

convenient time with you for me to train you on the terminal functions.‖

Qualifying questions:

Would you like us to train you, a manager, or several staff members?

(If multi-location) Would you like to have all of your managers to train

together, or should we visit all of your locations separately. (Now schedule

each location accordingly).

What is the best time to train for your location (s)?

b. Timing

Introduction to the Vx810 DUET

Integrated Terminal, Pin Pad and Printer installation

The Verfione Vx810 is an integrated device. There is one cable to goes

from the back of the hand held pin pad and plugs into the far right of the

Vx810 stand. Note if this cable is not already connected you will need a

screw driver to unscrew the screw on the back of the pin pad. Please

reference below quick installation guide.

What is IP

Technology?

Internet Protocol (IP) is the protocol (or language) that allows devices to

communicate over the Internet using a unique IP Address. When a message is

sent from one computer to another over the Internet, it is broken to small

manageable pieces called packets. Each packet can arrive in a different order

than the order it was sent. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) puts them

back in the right order.

IP Software

Components

In order for the terminal to communicate properly using Internet Protocol

(IP), each of the following components need to be programmed in the

terminal.

IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Who am I and where am I going?

MAC address xx xx xx xx xx xx Identifies the physical hardware.

Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Who can I talk to?

Default Gateway (DFG) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx How do I get there?

Domain Name Server (DNS) Something.Something.Com Where is it?

Dynamic Host Configuration

Protocol (DHCP)

Passes all the above

info to the terminal

Tell me who I am.

Confidential Page 15 4/22/2010

IP

Hardware

Components

An Ethernet Cable is the physical wire that connects devices that

communicate via IP. The Ethernet cable should be connected to the back of

the Vx810 in the Internet port, as shown below.

A Router connects two or more devices on a network. One end of an Ethernet

cable should be firmly connected to the terminal and the other end in an

Ethernet port on the router (not in the Internet port). Check that the light is on

for the Ethernet port the terminal is connected to. Check that the light is on

for the WAN/Internet port.

A Modem transmits the data over the Internet. One end of an Ethernet cable

should be firmly connected to the modem and the other end in an

Internet/WAN port on the router. Check that the ready light is on the modem.

If not, refer merchant to their Internet Service Provider.

The diagram below shows how these devices are connected.

Base (see picture 2). Plug the other end of the cable into phone jack.

If using a 2 way splitter, sometimes it may be necessary to test both sides

If sharing a line and using a splitter, the terminal and the phone cannot be used a the

same time if installing on IP (Ethernet)

Firewalls:

All Firewall attributes need to be disabled. Please have the merchant turn off all firewalls

and any other restrictions that may hinder the terminal from connecting and sharing their

Internet service.

Firewalls or other restriction type features that may be setup can impede the flow of data

to and from the terminal. If a firewall is necessary it can be configured on individual

devices on the network but not the router or modem.

Ports

Ports 19000 - 19999 need to be open on the network router to ensure proper terminal

communications. Network Administrator may be required to help here.

Network Support

Our Helpdesk cannot perform networking support. This would require service from the

merchants’ network administrator or internet service provider.

Our helpdesk can troubleshoot connection error messages. If our helpdesk or Datawire

helpdesk are unable to see the terminal connecting, we will have to refer the merchant to

their network administrator or internet service provider for further assistance.

CHIP FAQ What is a chip card?

A chip card, sometimes referred to as a ―smart card,‖ is a credit or debit card containing an

embedded computer chip. It is the next evolution of credit and debit cards. Just like your current

debit card, chip cards — including credit cards — will require your customers to enter a Personal

Identification Number (PIN). By the end of 2015, 100% of all point-of-sale devices and cards issued

in Canada will be chip cards.

What are the benefits of the chip card to consumers?

Chip cards and chip terminals work together to ensure a highly secure transaction by validating the card and the cardholder. The computer chip makes cards more difficult to copy, thereby reducing counterfeit fraud.

Chip credit and debit cards make a secure payment system even more secure.

What information is stored on the chip on the card? How secure is that information?

The information stored in the chip is the same type of information that is currently stored on the magnetic

stripe of cards today - payment-related information that will allow the transaction to be authorized and

processed. The information on the chip is protected by multiple layers of security. There is no personal

information stored on the chip card.

Why is the industry moving to chip?

The move to chip technology is the latest innovation in the rapidly changing payments environment, and

demonstrates the industry’s efforts to prevent counterfeit and fraudulent activity due to lost and/or stolen

credit cards, and to further secure Canadian electronic payments.

Will chip card transactions be conducted differently than magnetic stripe transactions?

Yes. At a chip-enabled retail (or use ―point-of-sale‖) terminal or automated bank machine (ABM), the chip card

is inserted and left there for the length of the transaction. The cardholder simply follows the prompts to

complete the transaction. Credit cardholders will need to enter a PIN, just as they do today for debit cards.

PIN is a more secure form of consumer identification and will replace cardholder signatures on credit

transactions.

Are you doing away with the magnetic stripe?

We have created our application and chip terminals to recognize both chip and magnetic stripe

cards. In non-chip enabled terminals, cards will be swiped and a signature will continue to be

required for credit card transactions and a PIN for debit transactions. Magnetic stripe will co-exist

with chip card technology to allow consumers to use their cards at non-chip enabled terminals

Will individuals receive a single chip card for multiple applications such as debit, credit, bus passes,

loyalty programs etc.?

A Although it is technically possible for a chip to hold multiple applications on one card, it will be up to each

card issuer to decide whether to issue cards that support multiple applications. If a card is issued to a

cardholder with multiple options, the terminals will prompt the cardholder to select their choice.

Confidential Page 21 4/22/2010

Training Tips

i. Start with the basics. The QRG will give a good

foundation of how to operate the terminal.

ii. Take one thing at a time. Don’t try to train on all kinds of

card types (CHIP, MAG STRIPE, KEY ENTRY) at the

same time. Do a separate transaction in training mode if

you need to train on more than one type of transaction.

iii. Train on items applicable to the industry of the merchant.

Ask the merchant if they accept tips or do any pre-

authorizations, or if they have special requests they need

you to verify, so that you can 1) Train them properly and

2) insure the terminal is setup properly.

iv. Do train on the reports and batch close/ batch settlement

process, as next to running transactions, these are the

most important daily items the merchants will use.
