SPEAKERS: You Shall Be My Witnesses The Church exists by mission, just as a fire exists by burning. Where there is no mission, there is no Church; and where there is neither Church nor mission, there is no faith. – Emil Brunner Do we understand the central place mission has in the life of church? It is not just an attractive program once we have met our need for a good building, quality education, and fine worship. Mission is the reason we have all those other things. Someone has said it’s not that God’s church has a mission, but that God’s mission has a church. Once we get that inside of us we begin to see that being a follower of Jesus Christ is the same thing as being a witness for Jesus Christ. Our 2018 World Mission Conference is all about living our lives as Christ’s witnesses. Our theme text from Acts 1:8 reminds us that witness is our Christian identity both near and far, from around the corner to around the globe. Our goal is to inspire, inform, and involve our congregation in Christ’s mission in our neighborhood and in places we have scarcely heard of. Our emphasis is not on raising money at the mission conference (you are already giving through your tithes and offerings) but on raising awareness of how our Lord may be calling each of us and all of us to do his work in the world. I urge you to set aside the time beginning on Saturday, March 10, to participate fully in the conference. Whether your interests are more local or global, whether you are more interested in our historic mission commitments or exploring new ones, and no matter what your age, there is something for you. Come and let your faith be deepened and vision expanded as together we listen for what the Spirit of God is saying to the congregation at First Presbyterian. I look forward to participating with you! You Shall Be My Witnesses

The Church exists by mission, just as a fire exists by burning. Where there is no mission, there is no Church; and where there is neither Church nor mission, there is no faith. – Emil BrunnerDo we understand the central

place mission has in the life of church?

Tapestry 2.0Instructor: kelly Sherrill.
