Existing Music Genres

Our chosen music genre is House because we feel that we can produce some abstract and ambiguous visuals to suit this genre of music. House music videos don’t have particular conventions to follow (thinking about Andrew Goodwin’s theory) and therefore we can play around with lots of different ideas for the video and ways to present our promotional package.

Why we chose Sub Focus Fits into the groups preferred music taste. More instrumental than lyrics, so we feel less obligated to include

miming. Also, their songs have mostly repetitive lyrics that can be interpreted in various ways. So we can experiment with lots of different ideas for storylines.

Fits under the generally favoured music genre for young people of our generation, as so we fell that we would know how to make our video appeal to that audience.

Lots of room for use of visual effects in our video (something we want to include a lot of) due to appropriate lengths of time for instrumental music.
