Rejoice in the Lord! Dear Friends in Christ,
Some people don’t like rain, but this time of the year we must remember that “April showers bring May flowers.” Some people don’t like the fact that Jesus died a cruel death on the cross, and therefore would prefer not to ob-serve Good Friday. However, it is only with the cross that we have the Resurrection.
“No pain, no gain,” says the athlete striving for the vic-tory. Yet with Jesus, it’s different. He bore the pain and the sin and the shame for us. The difference is that Jesus did it all for us. “His pain, our gain.”
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering... The punishment that brought us peace was on him,
And by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4a & 5b) Jesus alone accomplished our salvation and forgiveness.
The resurrection shows that the mission is complete. And He hands us the victory without us having to earn it. In fact we cannot earn or deserve forgiveness or salvation.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Corinthians 15:57)
The resurrection means that we win. And all of life, all goodness, all love, all everything is a gift from God. Our response is gratitude—especially for the rain. It gives life.
Now, the difficulties that still remain in this life can be seen in a new light. It is often through the crucible of dif-ficulty that our lives are renewed spiritually.
Our response now is to heed Jesus’ example and follow His lead. We live differently from the world. We respond to others with grace. We willingly sacrifice for the good of others. Self-centeredness is not in our vocabulary. Kind-ness, tender-heartedness, truth, generosity, love, joy, for-giveness, optimism, faith, and patience permeate out DNA.
And, it’s all because He lives. HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!
In the light of His love,
Pastor John F. Holt

Blessed to be a Blessing!
Some important principles about biblical stewardship. 1. Ownership—The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live
in it. (Psalm 24:1) is the fundamental principle of biblical stewardship. God owns everything, we are simply managers or administrators acting on his behalf.
2. Responsibility—Although God gives us “all things richly to enjoy” (I Timothy 6:17), we’re responsible for how we treat it and what we do with it. Owners have rights; stewards have responsibilities. We are called as God’s stewards, graciously en-trusted with the care, development, and enjoyment of everything he owns, and we are responsible to manage his holdings well and according to his desires and pur-poses.
3. Accountability—Like the servants in the Parable of the Talents, (Matthew 25) we will be called to give an account of how we have administered everything we have been given, including our time, money, abilities, information, wisdom, relationships, and authority.
4. Reward—In Colossians 3:23-24 Paul writes: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
We need to be faithful stewards of all God has given us within the opportunities pre-sented through his providence to glorify him, serve the common good and further his Kingdom.

Happy Easter
To All--CHRIST IS RISEN!!!
ALLELUIA!!! ALLELUIA!!! ALLELUIA!!!
In John 20:24-29, The Resurrected Christ Appears to Thomas: 24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said “Peace be with you !” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” What causes us to believe? What is the foundation of our faith? Does personal doubt ever overshadow personal faith? Sometimes, there are more questions than answers. We, as human beings, want to see tangible evidence for everything in life. We are "need to know" people. The technology evolution has even given us the tools and accessibility of information to truly stay "in the know"--to deal in facts and happenings. That was certainly not the case in Jesus' days on the earth. It seems that when it comes to our Christian journey, our faith and beliefs, and in growing as a follower of Jesus Christ, we must rely on the foundation of faith--the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Word of God. It gives us foundation. Faith is not a simple thing, but Jesus made it simple for us to grasp the power of faith in Matthew 17:20--Jesus replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." It is the foundation of faith that nothing is impossible through Jesus Christ--nothing seen or unseen!!! Have a blessed Easter Season!

First Lutheran Church-Jessica Lokken Memorial Music & Arts School & Camp— Applications for the First Lutheran Church-Jessica Lokken Memorial Music & Arts School & Camp are available in the church office. A full outline of the design and schedule for the school is outlined in the brochure. We are looking for a huge turnout for this school. If you are an interested youth or are a parent of interested youth/children, please contact me at the church to get on the reservation list for the school. The school will run for three consecutive weeks during June 2015. It is the goal to ensure that every child who wants to participate will have that opportunity! Our goal is to provide a spiri-tual, positive environment in which children/youth can learn and/or further develop their mu-sical and artistic talents.
Have a great April. Please keep our Music Ministry and Outreach in your thoughts and prayers. Peace, Tim

Over the years, those First Lutheran Church members who have consci-
entiously included First Lutheran Church congregation in their estate
planning have enabled some very important and powerful ministry to
happen here. Please consider including First Lutheran Church, which
has served you these many years, in your estate planning. You will en-
able this congregation to serve many, many more people in years and
generations to come.
HAVE YOU INCLUDED FLC IN YOUR WILL?
