FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA)

SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY

Prelude

Chiming of the Hour

Welcome and Announcements

Let us build a house where prophets speak, and words are strong and true, where all God’s children dare to seek to

dream God’s reign anew. Here the cross shall stand as witness and as symbol of God’s grace; here as one we claim the

faith of Jesus: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

*Call to Worship

Let me hear what the Lord will speak.

For God will speak peace to the people, to those who turn to the Lord in their hearts.

Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet.

Righteousness and peace will embrace each other.

Faithfulness will spring up from the ground and righteousness will look down from the sky.

Surely salvation is at hand for those who fear the Lord!

*Hymn 8 Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates

*Call to Confession

*Prayer of Confession

O generous Lord, we have been selfish.

We demand things that we do not need, want, or deserve.

Forgive our greed, our presumption, and our pride

that cause us to treat your creation as our possession.

Call us to a repentance that leads to holy change,

that we may claim our inheritance in Christ

and invite others to join us on the journey.

Time for silent confession.

founded it up on the seas of old.

O who shall stand before the Lord on Zion’s holy hill? The clean of hand, the pure of heart, the just who

do God’s will.

Refrain

O ever lasting doors, give way; lift up your heads, O gates! For now, behold to enter in, the King of

Glory waits.

God alone.

Instrumental-ists are also welcome!
