SUNDAY SCHOOL 9:30 WORSHIP SERVICE 10:30
From the Colemine
You shall observe the festival of harvest, of the first fruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You
shall observe the festival of ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of
your labor. Exodus 23:16
In the Old Testament they had a special time set aside called the festival of harvest. Today we have
something called Thanksgiving. Traditionally it is a time set aside for family to get together and have a big
meal and be thankful for what God has provided. We get a long weekend where we get to go shopping,
watch football and stuff ourselves with lots of food.
At one time, Thanksgiving was held at a time when the harvest was complete and people had plenty of
food and time to get together and share both their time and produce with one another. It was a time to store
away crops and produce for the winter that was coming. It was a time to be thankful for the harvest they
had received.
Today most of us don’t really harvest or store anything, that is all done for us. But we can still be thank-
ful to God for all the blessings we have received. We need to thank God not just on Thanksgiving day, but
every day.
Pastor Steve

Faith Builders in November
We will follow the Bible study “Half Truths” by Adam Hamilton. Is it true that everything hap-pens for a reason? In our study, we’ll find that this phrase and others are just common Chris-tian clichés. Topics include: “Everything Happens for a Reason”, “God Helps Those Who Help Themselves”, “God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle”, and “God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It”. We will use the DVD that goes along with the study. We invite you to join us in study and fellowship; come begin your Sunday worship with us. Ron Wood
What is the Memorials & Gifts Committee? The Memorials and Gifts Committee keeps track of and dis-tributes gifts that have been given to the church or in memory of a loved one. This is done in cooperation with the
family of the person in whose memory the gift has been given. Sometimes a family has a specific purpose in mind for their memorial and sometimes they leave it to the discretion of the committee. Often times there is a need for im-provements to the church building or new equipment and funds from memori-als are used for that purpose. In recent years, funds have been used for new flooring in the Fellowship Hall, carpeting in the mini-parlor and to provide scholarships for college students.
Thank you for the prayers, cards, flowers, calls and concerns during my recent surgeries and
recuperation. Robert and I appreciate the caring support that has been shown to us during
this time. Dina Wilson
