A note from the pastor...
With the confidence as children of God...
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10b)
These Sundays of Easter (the Sundays between Easter and Pentecost), yes we are still celebrating Easter even though the
stores have longed moved on, are about understanding the Resurrection. What does it mean to be a Resurrection people? We are reminded of the many promises that Jesus made and
that are still true.
We are children of God! At least weekly we hear “with the confidence as children of God, we continue to pray “Our
Father…””, but do we live it?
We are children of God that is why we pray with confidence. Unpacking this a bit more, it means we are worth God’s love.
Unfortunately, many of us forget this. Many advertisers prey on us because they too know we have forgotten we are worthy of God’s love. We somehow believe we aren’t _____ enough. They tell us if we buy their product, it will fill our need and we
will be _____ enough. But this only works for a short time, until we realize it didn’t fill our need and we return to believing we
aren’t _____ enough.
God in Jesus Christ came to give us life, not just any life but abundant life or life to the fullest. This life-giving gift from God, reminds us who we are and whose we are. It is a life of love,
joy, peace,… (Galatians 5:22-23), and hope.
By the power of the Holy Spirit and the love of God through Jesus Christ, may we believe we really are loved by God, worth
God’s love, and receive the abundant life offered to us.
Now with the confidence of the children of God we continue to pray...Amen!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Kelli

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY
May 15th is the day that we honor our
Confirmands as they publicly claim God. Our
church is blessed to have these Youth a part
of the church family.
We have gifts for each Confirmand, but the real
gift is your presence. Count on being in
worship to support these young people.
SENIOR SUNDAY
May 22nd is the Sunday when we
celebrate the graduating High School Seniors.
The High School Seniors will be present in
worship that day as the church family has a graduation gift for
each one.
God bless Barbara Conitz!!
She is a wonderful teacher. The kids of the ukulele band are having so much fun as they learn about the ukulele and about music. It is hard to decide which is
brighter—the bright colors of the ukuleles, or the smiles on the children’s faces! Soon they will be coming to a
worship service to share the fun.
And, yes, there is still room for you to join! Just call the church office.
Playground Update
If there is a way, let’s get the playground updates in place by
VBS time. We need you to help by serving on a planning
committee. A church work day to fix, paint, and renew our church playground is set for May 21st from 8:00am to
noon, lunch provided. We see the need; now let’s do
something about it!
Contact Pastor Patricia at (830) 560-0303 to say,

Zika virus disease is caused by the Zika
virus, which is spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected mosquito. The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. People usually don’t get sick enough to go to the hospital, and they very rarely die of Zika. However, Zika virus infection during pregnancy can cause microcephaly, and other fetal brain defects. Once a person has been infected, he or she is likely to be protected from future infections.
No vaccine exists to prevent Zika.
Prevent Zika by avoiding mosquito bites.
Mosquitoes that spread Zika virus bite mostly during the daytime. Prevent/Reduce Mosquito Bites: Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. Stay in places with air conditioning and screens. Use EPA-registered insect repellents with one of the following active ingredients: DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or para-menthandiol. When used as directed, EPA-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant and breast-feeding women. Always follow product instructions. www.cdc.org

UMW News Annette Pfeil, President
The United Methodist Women will be having studies that involves everyone in our local Unit and the church.
What is the Good Life? United Methodist Women’s personality have at least four components.
First—Our reason for being and our energy for the work comes from our faith in God, from saying yes to God’s saving work through Jesus Christ and allowing the Spirit to move us to lives of discipleship and growing faith.
Second—We invest in and create leadership development opportunities for members and for women, children and youth in all places we work.
Third—To equip ourselves to be
partners, we study and learn from experts of many kinds, including through the stories of women near us and far away.
Finally—The expression of all of this learning, information and relationship-building is consistent work providing direct service and participating in advocacy to change systems that exclude and oppress. Our serving, faith and learning compel us to get involved.
These aspects of our personality are deeply interconnected, with the study this year of climate justice. Our rootedness is in God’s creating work and in God’s love for all of this diverse creation. God has invited humanity to see themselves as deeply connected not only with our own “kind”, but with the whole creation.
Be expecting this study to come up in early fall for the local congregation.

Speak, Parson! It is so hard doing what is right! I love coming to work at church. I think
that my job is to greet people—to love on them, and I do love my job.
However, lately I have had a problem on being too excited when I see people. Knowing that I am not to jump up on people, I have had the temptation to do it anyway. I have been so happy to see them, and my legs are so short… Well, that has been my problem. So Pastor Patricia has had to correct me. She has had to remind me of how I am suppose to act. I have hated getting into trouble, but I knew what I wanted to do, and I
have “forgotten” that I really wanted to do the right thing.
I understand that people have the same problem. No, no, no—they are not jumping on people, but they are doing what they want to do, and forgetting to do what is right. But just as Pastor Patricia forgives me, and reminds me to do the right thing, God forgives people as they make slips in their spiritual journey. And just as Pastor Patricia still loves me and tries to help me find my way, God forgives people and is there daily walking with people helping them find the right way.
Walking with Jesus. It’s a good thing!
