STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE: GETTING IT
RIGHT AT THE STARTING LINE Stewardship Team, Finance Committee, or Church Council – if your
work in the church deals with people’s giving, you want to start off
on the right foot. As you prepare for the New Year, reflect on
these ideas that could make your job the best one in the church!
Jan 15 at 6:30 PM CST
SPRC PLANS THE YEAR Building positive relationships between staff and congregation
increases vitality and discipleship. Goal- setting, evaluation, job
descriptions, benefits and healthy work place responsibilities will
be covered for new and returning committee members.
Jan 17 at 6:30 PM CST
LAY LEADER: WHAT DO I DO? Expectations vary for this position! Learn from congregations of
all sizes, the Book of Discipline, and actual experiences to make
this role effective in your congregation.
Jan 22 at 6:30 PM CST
TRUSTEES PLAN A YEAR OF MINISTRY Trustees are stewards of church property, both physical property
and gifts and bequests. New and returning trustees will hear from
conference leaders about their legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
Plan ahead rather than react to crisis!
Jan 29 at 6:30 PM CST
CHURCH COUNCIL LEADS DISCIPLESHIP Being the Body of Christ in the world, living with the mind and
hands and feet of Christ: this is a description of Church! The
church leader team must build a comprehensive plan for ministry
and discipleship, implement and adjust the plan plus oversee
administration. This leader orientation will help you set a pattern
for the year and point the way to resources and support.
Jan 31 at 6:30 PM CST
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE DEVELOPS LEADERS Vibrant churches constantly identify, train, and support leaders.
This is the ministry of the nominations committee.

January Children’s Ministry News
January 2nd – No choir or FaithWeaver Friends
January 8th – Children’s Council Meeting at 7:00
January 9th – Choir and FaithWeaver Friends resumes
The Children’s Department would like to
extend a big thank you to all those who
assisted in making the Happy Birthday Jesus
party a great success! Twenty-nine kids
were on hand to celebrate by making clay pot
Nativities, playing Minute to Win It,
decorating cupcakes, and talking to Santa.
Our kids are good examples of inviting others into our church family as we had 3
visitors. We are blessed to have such good representations of our church mission
statement.
Bridgeport Summer Camp
It’s hard to believe, but is already
time to start planning for summer
camp. Bridgeport Camp is open to
all students in 3rd thru 5th grades.
This year’s camp date will be
July 30th thru August 3rd.
Hopefully this will allow all those in summer baseball/softball leagues to attend.
The cost for camp this year is $280. As has been tradition, the church will cover
half of that cost so each family is responsible for the non-refundable deposit of
$140 per camper. Scholarships are available. Registration forms and camp
deposits need to be turned into the church office by February 15`th.
If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
James 5:16b, NLT
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great
power and wonderful results.”
I would like to Thank everyone for
all the calls, prayers, cards, and
the prayer blanket I was given
during the last several months.
Lucy Hill
The Nurture Committee would like to
thank everyone involved in the Sunday
morning Advent Breakfasts.
This tradition is becoming a
wonderful time to not only celebrate the
season of Advent but to enjoy fellowship
with our church family as well.
Merry Christmas from the Nurture
Committee…...
