SAFETY FIRST: DON’T COVER UP CLASSROOM DOOR VISION PANELS! Classrooms and offices in educational institutions have vision panels in their doors for a reason: ensuring visibility of faculty and students inside in the event of an emergency and discouraging inappropriate behaviors behind closed doors. These vision panels are there to protect students and faculty, allowing clear sight lines for security personnel.

Recently it has been observed that a number of classroom and office door vision panels have been covered. In the case of an emergency or lockdown, occupants of rooms are directed to lock their doors and stay away from windows and doors so that they are not visible to any intruder, but security personnel will continue to need unimpeded vision into a room or office.

Going forward, all obstructions on vision panels will be removed. Please remove any materials currently preventing clear sight lines through these windows. For additional, older door locks that don’t allow for locking from the inside are being replaced.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE (PINK) ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM – ANNUAL AAWCC SALE Mark your calendars now for the Annual Pink Elephant/Bake Sale, sponsored by the Truman chapter of the American Associa-tion for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC). The sale, scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cafeteria Foyer, raises funds for the scholarships the chapter awards to deserving Truman women students.

Once again, they are in need of generous contributions to ensure the success of this fund-raising event. Donations may include:

• Gently used items for sale that may be dropped off to Naeema Mahmood in Room 162, or Teresa Walker in Room 118 of the McKeon Student Services Building.

• Baked store-bought-goods: Send an email about your contribution to Naeema at [email protected] or Teresa at [email protected], or drop them off to the sale loca-tion on that day.

• Volunteers to serve at the sale tables. Contact Naeema or Teresa to volunteer.

As always, the chapter wishes to thank everyone for their continued generous support. The event would not be possible without the help of everyone at Truman.
