RECORDER - [email protected]
Most of you have noticed that we have increased the page count to
the Chariot and that we are trying to include pictures. If you have
pictures that you would like included in the Chariot that shows your
unit or club fun activities, email them to the Recorder with a short
description. Also, please send high resolution pictures. When the
Chariot goes to press, the quality of the image printed is only as
good as the image submitted. We can do some enhancing in Photoshop, but only so
much. That said, there is always a call for unit or club activities. We will be happy to
print what your group is up to, we just have to know. If you don't think you can write
an article, just send us the outlines and we can fill in the blanks. Welcome back from
vacation, it's time to start working again.
Nobles and Ladies of Ben Hur,
Well here we are in September! School has started again so be
careful out there with all the kiddos out and about. Labor Day
Weekend we had our 72nd annual Shrine Circus at the HEB Center at
Cedar Park. More on the Circus in the next issue.
Parades coming up are on the 7th in Bertram and on the 14th in San
Marcos. We have our Family Fish Fry on the 21st. The Fish Fry is a
Family, everyone invited event, so get your Blue Lodges out and all
your Friends.
Since we are in September now, the Temple is no longer Dark. Our first stated meeting
back is on the 19th, welcoming all new Nobles and their Wives. There will be special
presentations during the meeting for the ladies.
I want to give a special Bravo-Zulu to James and Janet Heineman for all they did for the
Temple and especially for the Potentate. They both went above and beyond the call of
duty in volunteering to pull the Divan Float and setting up for events at the Temple.
Let’s remember to recruit new members and make our Temple grow again. As my late
Father-in-Law always said, “See you in the Funny Paper!”

Ladies and Nobles,
Is it Fall already?
Thank you to everyone who helped with the Circus! There will be
more details about the circus in next month’s article.
Your Board of Directors is trying to start a new fundraiser for Ben
Hur Shrine: a Fall Carnival at the Round Rock Premium Outlets.
This year, the carnival starts on September 5th and goes through
September 23rd. The hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 5PM to 11PM, and
1PM to midnight on the weekends. Stop by, and tell your friends and neighbors!
The Vampire Ball is SOLD OUT! However, we have started a Waiting List, in case tick-
ets become available. To place your name on the list, please call the front office at
512-480-0812.
Fraternally,

ORIENTAL GUIDE - [email protected]
Howdy All,
Life has been good. The Fun Crew got together for an afternoon of fun bowling at Dart Bowl on Sunday, August 4th.
It turned out real well. There were 20 bowlers and about 10 in the cheering crowd. Looked like everyone had a great time.
Dart Bowl gave us 4 lanes right in front of the grill and bar. Guess they know us well, LOL. Imperial Sir Jim Smith and
Lady Alice surprised us. They had just got home from the airport that morning and showed up to cheer us on. I tried
but couldn’t get them to bowl this time. We appreciate their support. We also had ladies from the Nile and LOS bowling.
Everyone wants to do it again and we are for it also. We are going to try to have a roundtable meeting about every two to three
months. Come join if you want and help plan and execute some events in the future. We need some ideas. We want to keep them simple so there is not a bunch of work
pulling them off. Email Pam if you want to get on the email list [email protected] I
will also put it on the facebook site.
Casino party was a hoot. Glad it was not my real money I was playing. Check the
chariot and the web site calendar for events and parades coming in the future. We would love to see everyone out having FUN. See y’all soon.
Thanks for your support

HIGH PRIEST AND PROPHET - [email protected]
REMEMBER: Austin 360 Amphitheater. We will be selling CD's for
Breaking Benjamin. Last month I told you that I am looking for 20+
people to volunteer. So far only 10 have said they will help. That
means I need 10 more people. This is an opportunity to help with this
effort for Ben Hur, but also Shriners Hospital for Children.
Where: Austin 360 Amphitheater, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd, Del Valle, TX
When: September 9, 2019
Please contact the High Priest for more information and to volunteer.
Phone: 512-844-8374.
Again, thanks for your support.
TEXAS HOSPITALS UPDATE
The following information was sent to the Nobility and I wanted to repost it here, just
incase someone did not see it.
Dear Nobility
At this past Imperial Session, important legislation was passed to change the by-laws
regarding governance of our hospitals. The impetus for this change came from our
own leaders, members of local Boards of Governors, as well as our hospital leadership
teams. I am excited to share that after an historic vote this week by the Joint Boards,
the Houston Board of Governors, and the Galveston Board of Governors, the Houston
Hospital will be relocating inside the Galveston facility. This is an exciting transition
within our system as we continually work to serve more kids in more places, in the
most efficient manner possible.
Work will now begin on the process of combining these two facilities into one campus,
and we are extremely optimistic that this decision well positions Shriners Hospitals for
Children as we head into the future. A timeline is not yet known, although we
anticipate that this transition would not occur before late 2020. More information will
be forthcoming, but I wanted to share the results of this important decision.
