Quareo Physical Layer
Management System Businesses and organizations worldwide are more dependent on their physical layer than
ever before. From computers, phones and wireless devices, to alarm systems, security
cameras and video conferencing, today’s network physical layer touches virtually every
device inside an organization. Security of the physical layer also has become a top
concern among network and data center managers, especially in healthcare, financial and
mission-critical organizations where data is required to be secure.
CommScope’s Quareo physical layer management system, with its Quareo Connection Point Identification (CPID) hardware technology, delivers full
knowledge and visibility of the physical layer. These solutions enable higher network availability, while lowering network costs, by integrating full
visibility of the physical layer into existing network management applications—all the way from the data center to the desktop. Quareo is helping
network and data center managers bridge the gap between network management and physical layer management, transforming the physical layer
into a strategic asset and revolutionizing the way networks are managed and controlled. By providing a real-time comprehensive picture of every
connection point in the physical layer, physical layer management significantly improves productivity and efficiency of physical layer management
and maintenance processes while reducing costly downtime and operating costs.

Featuring Quareo® Technology
Quareo Middleware The Quareo system is an Automated Infrastructure Management (AIM) platform which leverages a common middleware to drive and collect port
level information from Quareo (CPID enabled) hardware. The Middleware approach and architecture of the Quareo system allows customers the
flexibility to use the automated hardware to augment and leverage existing physical layer documentation, connection level details to support logic
determinations, 3rd party management software platforms and custom use cases. The Quareo middleware API can host multiple connections to
various software systems allowing for consistent, uniform updates of the physical layer connectivity information. The same Quareo Middleware
drives communications for the purpose built Quareo Software GUI as a stand-alone tool.
Automated port status: Quareo Hardware (CPID enabled) in combination with Quareo Middleware provides the automated port status of whether a port is
vacant and available for use or populated with a patch cord. When Quareo Cables are used, the cable assembly information is provided with the port status
information. Quareo Assemblies have unique serial numbers assigned in manufacturing which is programmed into the CPID along with PN and other details
pertinent to the assembly/component. This CPID information allows correlation of the serial numbers to positively validate both ends/ports of the patch
connection, and align system requirements/parameters (e.g.: circuit length budgets, Color coding, polarity, performance categories, etc.).
LED Controls: Quareo (CPID) enabled equipment ports have bi-color LEDs for use in works orders and guidance as indicators. Within a change control process the
identified ports for connection or removal of a cable assembly can have the LEDs turned on with appropriate colors and flash patterns, identifying the ports for either
insertion or removal of cables, eliminating guesswork by field technicians, providing a reliable identification of the ports involved in the work actions.

Quareo Software The Quareo Software GUI supported by the Quareo Middleware is a purpose-built, stand-alone, server software application designed to document
and administer both passive and active network connectivity infrastructure. The Quareo software enables management of various levels of network
components from existing brownfield infrastructure to CommScope’s traditional and automated physical layer management solutions.
As part of the Quareo physical layer management system, Quareo software enables immediate notification and response to changes in
connectivity and automatically records the configurations of the physical layer cabling system and its devices with accurate documentation.
Features • Accountability of assets by location and date • Availability of assets and utilization is improved • Reduced operational costs • Best practice and regulatory requirements are more easily attained • Network problems are more easily diagnosed and corrected • Security is greatly enhanced • Remote visibility of the physical layer • DoD/DISA/JITC tested

Adapter Packs Adapter packs will generally be fitted on the trays of a FIST-GPSQ shelf, but can also be ordered separately.
Universal adapter packs are designed to accept a variety of connector types, including singlemode and multimode, angled and ultra-polished
connections, allowing a network operator to support all variants of connector type within a single adapter pack, greatly simplifying ordering and
providing excellent future flexibility.. The flexibility of the black universal adapter pack helps service providers reduce ordering SKU’s and total
inventory requirements. The staggered adapter pack design helps installers access connectors without pinching or moving adjacent connections
and helps clearly identify individual fiber ports. One 24-fiber (12 duplex port) LC adapter pack can be installed per tray or one eight-port MPO
adapter pack (12- or 24-fiber MPO) per tray; up to six total adapter packs per shelf.
