TuitionProtectionService(TPS)

FormanyyearsAustraliahasbeenaworldleaderinprotectingthetuitionfeesofinternational

studentsstudyinginAustraliaonastudentVISA.TheEducationServicesforOverseasStudents

(ESOS)ActprovidesprotectionforinternationalstudentsthroughtheintroductionoftheTuition

ProtectionService(TPS).

IntheextremelyunlikelyeventthatFitEducationisunabletodeliveracourseyouhavepaidforand

doesnotmeetitsobligationstoeitherofferyouanalternativecoursethatyouacceptorpayyoua

refundofyourunspentprepaidtuitionfees(thisiscalledaprovider's'defaultobligations'),theTPS

willassistyouinfindinganalternativecourseortogetarefundifasuitablealternativeisnotfound.

Pre-enrolment

ManyofFitEducation’sinternationalstudentscometostudythroughwordofmouthor

recommendationsfromfamilyandfriends.FitEducationdoeshaveformalagreementswitha

limitednumberofeducationagentsthatprovidereferrals.Adetailedlistoftheseagentsisavailable

ontheFiteducationwebsite(linkhere)

StudentsmakinganenquiryaboutstudyingwithFitEducation,eitherdirectlytoFitEducationor

throughanEducationAgent,willbeprovidedwithinformationrelatingtominimumEnglish

proficiencyrequirements,pre-requisiteeducationalandworkexperiencerequirementsforthe

course.ApplicationdocumentsareforwardedtostudentsforcompletionandreturnedtoFit

Education.Iftheapplicationisaccepted,FitEducationwillsendaLetterOfferandawritten

agreementthatissignedbythestudentandreturnedtoFitEducation.Enrolmentisconfirmed(CoE)

andthestudentisabletoapplyforastudentVISAtocommencestudyinthenominatedcourse.The

LetterofOfferwillincludeinformationaboutdatesofthecompulsoryOrientationsessionfor

internationalstudents.

SpecificentryrequirementsforeachcourseareidentifiedonFitEducationwebsite:however,

• orhavecompletedanAustralianaccreditedCertificateIV,orequivalent,and

Orientation

AllInternationalstudentsarerequiredtoattendacompulsoryinternationalorientationsession.At

thissession,youwillbeprovidedwithinformationthatwillassistyoutosettleintoyournewstudy

environment,includingacampustour,andanintroductiontotheFitEducationteam.The

orientationsessionprovidesinformationabouttraining,assessmentandsupportservices,your

responsibilitiesasastudent,keypoliciesthatimpactuponcourseprogressionandcompletion,and

yourrightsandresponsibilitiesasastudentofFitEducation.

UniqueStudentIdentifier

AllstudentsofanyRTOinAustralia,includingFitEducation,willrequireaUniqueStudentIdentifier

number(USI). This isaregulatoryrequirementforallRTOsandwithoutthis,FitEducationcannot

issueyourresultsandfinalqualification(Testamur).

ItisthestudentresponsibilitytoregisterforandreceivetheirUSInumber.IfyoualreadyhaveaUSI,

studentsarerequiredtoprovidethistotheAdministrationCo-ordinatorassoonaspossible.Students

commencingstudyforthefirsttimeinAustraliawillreceiveinstructionsaboutapplyingforaUSIat

theOrientationsession.

YourUSIwillgiveyouaccesstoanonlinerecordoftrainingyouhavedonesince1January2015with

any Australian registered training organisation. As a result, you will be able to produce a

comprehensivetranscriptofyourtraining;thisisparticularlyusefulifyouhaveundertakentraining

withmorethanoneprovider.FitEducationalsoretainsrecordsofyourtrainingundertakenwithus.

CreditTransferandRecognitionofPriorLearning

FitEducationrecognizestheAQFQualificationsandStatementofAttainmentissuedbyanyother

RegisteredTrainingOrganisationoreducationproviderinAustralia.Ifyouhavecompletedprevious

studiesinAustraliaandwishtoapplyforcreditinyourintendedcourseofstudy,contacttheCourse

Co-ordinatorassoonaspossibletobegintheCreditTransferapplicationprocess.Thereisnofee

chargedforCredittransfer.

TheprincipleofRecognitionofPriorLearning(RPL)isthatstudentsshouldnotberequiredto

undertakeaunitofstudyforwhichtheyareabletodemonstratesatisfactoryachievementofthe

competencystandardsforthatunit.Ifyoubelievethatyouhavetherequiredskillsandknowledge

todemonstratecompetencyinaunit/unitsinyourcourse,contacttheCourseCo-ordinatorassoon

aspossible.AfeeischargedforRPLapplications.

CourseprogressandMonitoring

InternationalstudentsmustcompletetheircoursewithinthetimespecifiedintheirConfirmationof

Enrolment(CoE).FitEducationmayofferelementsofacoursethroughdistanceoronlinedelivery,

howeveronlinelearningunitscannotexceedmorethanathirdofthetotalcourse.

Studentsmustenrolinatleastoneface-to-faceunitoncampusinanygivenstudyperiod/

semester.

InternationalstudentsarerequiredtomaintainsatisfactoryacademicprogressaspartoftheirVISA

conditions.YouracademicprogressiscarefullymonitoredbyFitEducation.Supportandguidanceis

availabletoensurethatyouhaveeveryopportunitytomeetyouracademicprogressresponsibilities.

Youmustcompleteallassessmentrequirementstobedeemedcompetentineachunitofstudy.If

youarehavingtroublewithyourstudiesormeetingassessmentdeadlines,talktoyourtrainersto

arrangelearningsupport.Ifyouarerecognizedasbeing‘atrisk’ofnotprogressingsatisfactorily,you

willreceivealettertoinviteyoutoaccesslearningsupport.

FitEducationisrequiredtoreportstudentswhohaveachievedcompetencyinlessthan50%oftheir

unitsintwoconsecutivestudyperiods.Thismayaffectastudent’sVISA.

PlagiarismandCheating

Plagiarismisaformofcheating,whereastudenttakessomeoneelse’swritingsorthoughtsand

representsthemastheirownwork.Examplesofplagiarisminclude:

• Presentingworkbyanotherindividualasyourown,evenwhenitisunintentional

• Handinginassessmentscopiedfromanotherstudent

• Allowinganotherstudenttocopyyourwork

• Handinginassessmentstakentotallyorinpartfromtheinternet

PlagiarismisviewedasaveryseriousbreachoftheStudentCodeofConduct,andwillresultin

disciplinaryactionsbyFitEducationstaff.

Studentsareexpectedtoexhibithonestandethicalbehaviourinundertakingassessment.Ifthereis

evidenceofcheating inanassessment,disciplinaryactionwillbe takenbyFitEducation.Thismay

resultincancellationofthestudent’senrolment,andmayaffecttheStudent’sVISA.

StudentsareprovidedwithaUnitOutlineandLearnerguideforeachUnitofCompetence.The

LearnerGuideexplainstheassessmentsubmissionrequirements,duedatesandthecriteriaforeach

assessment.

Whenchoosingthemostappropriateassessmentmethod,thefollowingwillbeconsidered:

• Thefourdimensionsofcompetency(taskskills,taskmanagementskills,contingency

managementskillsandjob/roleenvironmentskills).

• Theskillsorclusterofskillsappliedinaworkplacesituation,specificTrainingPackageor

AccreditedCourserequirements.

• Underpinningknowledge/skillsthatarerequired.

• Theunitofcompetencelevelandoutcomes.

• Theindividualneedsofthestudent.

• Wheretheassessmentwillbeconducted(on-the-job,off-the-job,simulatedenvironment).

• Theavailableresources.

Assessmentmethodsincludepracticalskills,writtenandoralexaminations,casestudies,workbooks,

worksheets,writtenreports,oralpresentations,roleplaysandprojectimplementation.

Assessmentstasksarebasedonprinciplesofvalidity,reliability,fairnessandflexibility.Studentsare

providedwithfeedbackaboutoutcomesoftheassessmentprocessandguidanceinrelationtothose

outcomes.

Reasonableadjustmentmaybemadetoassista learnerwithadisability.Areasonableadjustment

canbeassimpleaschangingclassroomstobeclosertoamenities,orinstallingaparticulartypeof

softwareonacomputerforapersonwithvisionimpairment.

Itisthestudent’sresponsibilitytoensureassessmenttasksandassignmentsaresubmittedbythedue

date.Academicpenaltieswillbeimposedforlatesubmissionsifpriorapprovalhasnotbeengranted.

Competent

Astudentwhoisdeemedassatisfactoryinallassessmentactivitiesrequiredinaunit,willbe

deemedascompetentforthatunit.

NotyetCompetent

Astudentwhoisdeemedasunsatisfactoryinanassessmentactivityisentitledtoa2nd[second]

attempt,orre-submissionoftheassessmentactivity,

Astudentwhoisunsuccessfulaftera2nd[second]attemptforassessmentactivity/activitiesforaunit

willbedeemedasnotyetcompetentfortheunit.

Theoutcomeofbeingdeemedtobenotyetcompetentinaunitmayhaveanimpactonthestudent’s

academicprogression.Studentswhoareidentifiedas‘atrisk’ofnotachievingsatisfactoryacademic

progressionwillbeofferedstudentsupport.

NOTE:

Allassessmentactivitieshaveaduedate.Failuretosubmitbytheduedate,withoutformalapproval

at least 7 days prior to the due date, will be deemed as a first attempt. If the due date is a re-

submissiondate,itwillbedeemedsecondattempt.

Requestsforanextensionwithinlessthan7daysoftheduedate,maybeapprovedinextenuating

circumstancesbytheCourseCo-ordinator.

IssuingQualifications

When you have successfully completed all of the competencies for a particular course, and have

completed your Fit Education studies, you will receive the appropriate certificate or testamur.

Studentsundertakingnationally recognised trainingwill receive a StatementofAttainment (SOA),

Diploma or Certificate (course dependent) following the successful completion of their final

assessment.Thesedocumentsareofficial,embossedwiththeNationallyRecognisedTraininglogoand

arerecognisedbyotherRegisteredTrainingOrganisationsacrossAustralia.

YourFeedback

Atthecompletionofaunit,studentsareissuedwithaStudentfeedbackSurveythatisdesignedto

collectfeedbackinrelationtothestudent’sexperienceinthatUnit.Thecompletionandreturnof

thissurveyisvitaltothecontinuousimprovementofFitEducation’strainingandassessment.

SUPPORTSERVICESANDFACILITIES

InternationalStudentSupportstaffcanhelpyoutosettle intoAustraliaandcanprovideextensive

support to assist you in your studies. Sometimes problems such as homesickness, food, personal

safety,moneysafety,transport,medical incidentsandculturalexpectationsarisethatmayimpede

thesuccessfulcompletionofyourstudyprogram.TheStudentSupportOfficerisavailableforsupport

andcounsellingtohelpyoutoresolveanysuchissues.FitEducation’sStudentSupportOfficerand

CourseCo-ordinatorarealsoavailableforguidanceandcounsellinginotherareassuchasacademic

HEALTHANDWELLBEING

OverseasStudentHealthCover(OSHC)

InternationalstudentsstudyinginAustraliamusthaveprivatehealthinsuranceasaconditionof

theirstudentVISA.Australia'snationalhealthsystemMedicare,coversAustraliancitizensand

permanentresidentsonly.Thereareanumberofprivateserviceproviderswhoofferoverseas

studenthealthcover(OHSC).PleaserefertotheFitEducationwebsitetofindalistofHealth

Insuranceproviderswhocanassistyoutofindtheappropriatehealthandmedicalinsurancecover.

YOURRIGHTSANDRESPONSIBILITIES

StudentCodeofConduct

TheStudentCodeofConductensuresthatallstudentsestablishandmaintainanacceptablelevelof

conductduringtheperiodoftheirstudyatFitEducation.Thesafetyandwellbeingofallstaffand

studentsisextremelyimportanttotheFitEducationteam.Studentsareexpectedtobefamiliar

withtheCodebeforetheycommenceclassesatFitEducation.TheCodeofConductoutlinesa

student’sresponsibilitiesandapplieswhetherthestudentisoncampusorundertakingarelated

activityoff-campus.WhenastudentacceptsofaLetterofOfferandasignstheWrittenAgreement,

thereisanexpectationthatthestudentagreestoabidebytheStudentCodeofConduct.

StudentsareprovidedwithacopyoftheStudentCodeofConductaspartofthepre-enrolment

informationpack.TheCodeisavailableatalltimesontheFitEducationwebsite(linkhere)

BreachesoftheStudentCodeofConductareunacceptable,andinextremecircumstancesmaylead

VISAConditions

To maintain a current student VISA, international students must comply with a number of VISA

conditionswhichcomeintoeffectafterarrivinginAustralia. Fordetailed,accurateandup-to-date

• Mustnotundertakepaidemploymentformorethan40hoursperfortnightwhilethecourse

ofstudyisinsession

• Maintain overseas student health cover (OSHC) for the entirety of the students stay in

Australia

• IfthestudenthasdependentchildrenwhoaccompaniesthestudenttoAustralia,thechildren

ComplaintsandAppeals

FitEducationrecognizesthatthestudent’srighttoaccessanindependentComplaintsandAppeals

processprovidesanassurancethatthestudent’scomplaintorappealwillbeheardandaddressedin

atimelyfashion.Studentsareabletoseekrecoursethroughrobustandimpartialinternalprocesses

howeverthecomplaintorappealcanbepassedtoanindependentexternalpersonorbodyifitis

notsatisfactorilyresolved.

FeesandCharges

Allfeesandchargespertainingthestudent’schosencourseofstudyareprovidedpriorto

enrolment.Priortoeachstudyperiod,studentswillbeinvoicedforfeesdueforthatstudyperiod,as

pertheFeeScheduleattachedtotheLetterofOfferandWrittenAgreement.Feesmustbepaidby

theduedateindicatedontheinvoice.

Studentswithoutstandingfeeamountswillbenotifiedinwritingthattheyhave5workingdaysin

whichtopayanyamountsowingandthatfailuretodosomayresultintheirenrolmentbeing

suspendedorcancelled.Pleasenotethatlatepaymentoftuitionfeesmayattractadditionalcharges

FitEducationisobligedtoreportanon-feepayment,suspensionorcancellationtotheAustralian

Government.Thismayaffectthestudent’sVISA.

Feesforeachindividualcourseremainfixedatthetimeofenrolmentforthedurationofthat

enrolmentagreement.Studentswhointendtoprogresstofurtherstudieswithhigherlevel

qualifications(i.e.:CertificateIIItoIV)willbeadvisedofthecurrentfeepriortoenrolment.Itis

envisagedthatcoursefeeswillincreasein-linewithinflationfromoneyeartoanother,unlessthere

isasignificantchangeindeliveryorotherrelatedcosts.

Refunds

EachstudentacknowledgesandagreestothetermsandconditionsoftheRefundPolicy&Procedures

enrolment,studentsmust:

§ SubmitacompletedDeferral,Suspension,CancellationandWithdrawalFormavailableontheFit

§ providecertifieddocumentaryevidencetosupporttheirapplication;

§ clearlydemonstratethatthedeferralortemporarysuspensionofstudies isoncompassionate

groundsorcompellingcircumstances.
